Here is an example of a magazine scam with associated "debt collector".
Note how reviewing and profiling a range of independent complaints from various sources allows you to construct a model of their activities, and to map out the goals of their various deceptions.
This happened to me at another company, they sent me a $100.00 toner pack and I never ordered it. It took me a week for them to take it back and they tried to charge me for it. THEN I just got a solicitation from their company and he said this is Ryan from United Supply Source how are you. I said Im great how can I help you, he said you're a real [***] [***] you know that... SO BEWARE. We dont need anyone doing business with customer service like that... I should have wrote a review along time ago, but this situation, just refreshed my memory...UGH! You call me to solicite and get an attitude, I tried the # given and it goes to voicemail everytime, so I left a VM which I doubt that is going to go anywhere. BUYER BEWARE..or in this case UN BUYERS beware.. ugh!

As you found out, even while they were "nice", their only goal was to con you, and even when you went to the trouble to "return" the unordered product, they STILL tried to con you.
That is why the best tactic is to recognize it for what it is, a fraudulent racket and nothing more, and immediately file fraud complaints with all authorities. Don't play their game. It just encourages them. If they want their product returned, they can arrange for a common carrier to come get it, on their own nickel, if they think it is so valuable. Otherwise, dump it after 10 days.
Unordered merchandise is a "gift" under postal regulation. Claiming anything else is mail fraud.

My advice is DO NOT send it back. If you send it back, you are basically supporting their operation. You have, legally in your possession, something that now belongs to you. If you send it back to them, they will obviously be able to use it to scam someone else. If no one ever sent them back, they would go broke and perhaps out of business.
DO NOT send them back, people.
As TJ has pointed out, it belongs to you now.

Why are you sending it back?
It legally belongs to you so you are, in effect, donating to their cause. They WILL use it to try to scam someone else.
If no one ever sent them back, they would go broke.

Same scan line- Lisa presented herself on the phone from a Oce company who said we regularly ordered supplies and that there was a price increase but that we hadn't been notified so I could get some at the old price. I had someone named John also calling to verify equipment brand.I called United Supply on 8/18 and talked to Gracie to let her know we got the toner and why are we being charged and why should it be paid to United Supply Source and not to OCE and she said that's where the toner is coming from and told her I will wait for Oce to send us an invoice or better I will call Oce Majestic. I also felt stupid because when i called Oce on 8/19 to verify our order and inquire why it will be paid to United Supply Source they said that it was a scam by United.True, I searched the internet and found this. I'm sending them a certified letter stating they must pick up the toner or we will send this back to this address in Lancaster CA 93534 or we will be forced to dispose of the goods after 30 days. The company name is United Supply Source and the return address is 43759 15th St. West, Suite 144, Lancaster, CA 93534.

I found the cure!!!!! They've been bugging us for months and we've battled with them just the same as all of you have. Now, whenever anyone calls claiming they're from "Sharp" (in this case, they might change it for other places), you ask them a call back number and they hang up immediately. Made it so the phone calls last less than 30 seconds and they never get any words that can be cut apart and used to formulate a conversation that never happened. They'll still call, but this is working so far.

Ask for their callback number. I found that if you ask right up front, your true vendors will give it to you, they wont. They hang up on me every time.

The guy called me last week and he said he will send us Toner. I told him, toner is included in our service contract(agreement) with vendor, so there is no reason that 3rd party going to send us a toner.
It came today, I called 1-661-723-9000, left my message with Invoice#, Lady name Ms. Francine call back in 15 minutes, she said ship it back to her attention and said she will remove our information from their database.

These people are horrible human beings! Same thing happened to me. The man called and asked for the girl who used to be in my position. I informed him she was no longer with the company. He said that an order was placed by her then he asked that same question he asks everyone: "Can you please verify the model printer you have, your address, and your name for a toner order that was placed?". Not knowing any better, I told him. It seemed ok to me. If the girl before me used to order from them, it must be ok, right? Pretty soon I get the bill $700 bucks for one toner! About a week later he calls again and says that their shipping department messed up and that there are two more toner cartridges on their way that were supposed to be included in the first shipment. I thought, "Ok that is why the bill was so much". But then I got another bill for $1300! Then today someone called again saying that they needed to verify our printer model number. There was no way I was going to fall for the same trick again! When I asked who was calling, she hung up!

SORRY TO ALL
I know where this company is. I was sucked into the scam as an employee for 7 hours then I researched cuz they just seemed off... EVERYONE there and I was told no materials of the speech could go home because the company is not known. As of today, it was my first and last day. Im SO SO SO SO SORRY to ALL BUSSINESS'S I called today all around the USA. Their current address is 1034 West Ave L-12 #B Lancaster, CA 93534. What I think is kinda strange how they are hidden behind a church building where they have no labels on their door and there is only one way in and out of the office. Once again Im very SORRY to ALL business's that are or have been affected by this company.

Whenever you receive unordered merchandise, followed by demands to pay for it, file fraud complaints with the U.S. Postal Inspector.
Mail fraud covers not only fraudulent invoices for unordered merchandise, but using the mail or common carriers in a fraudulent scheme.

Hello everyone,
Just FYI I talked to the Lancaster City Business License enforcement and they have a valid business license. Their business, however, is of course not valid.
THEY ARE LOCATED AT

I plan on paying them a little visit

I had been manning the front desk for only a few days, when a call came in from United Supply, who told me a previous receptionist had ordered a printer user manual, and toner. She asked for the make/model of the printer (saying she 'forgot' what the other person told her). She said she would send out the user manual, and mentioned that we had an active order for toner. She stated that we could expect to receive both items in about a week. After checking with the former receptionist and our office supply manager, neither of whom knew of the order, someone in our firm looked up the company. That's when we saw all the complaints. Today United Supply called back, eager to follow-up with their 'target' (that would be me). What I wanted to say was 'we are on to you'. Instead, I told them we were no longer accepting their calls. If they call again, they will be told this matter has been referred to our legal department, and that they can expect to be contacted shortly. Question: Based on the dates of these complaints, this company has been at this for some time. Why haven't they been stopped?

Mac - i truly appreciate you posting the phone numbers .... i just had an encounter with these guys as well and when i told them we are under contract to purchase only from Staples and HP, he said he was going to call me back. So I was afraid they would be sending those toners out (they already had our address etc) - i called the main number and told them in no specific terms they were not to send me anything!! so thank you again for posting their contact numbers - what a big help!! we'll see if they will still send us those stupid toners...

If they send it anyway and demand payment, file a fraud complaint with the California Attorney General, and another with the U.S. Postal Inspector for mail fraud.

Frustrated Business owner
I am so tired of these companies, it's such a waste of time and money on our part!!! Our toner is included in our maintenance agreement, why would we pay almost $700 for 1 cartridge??? We have been told the invoice will be credited upon the return of the product. This time it was the night janitor that answered the phone & supposedly ordered there product!!

They will always claim it was someone, whether or not anyone "authorized" anything.
They will misrepresent that you do business with them, and lead whoever answers toward some statement they can then excerpt and misrepresent as "authorization".
It's a scam, nothing more. Treat it as such. File fraud complaints with FTC, your state Attorney General, the California Attorney General, and the U.S. Postal Inspector.
They set out to defraud you, planning to con you out of $700 from the start, and they knew they had no "authorization" for any "order" and that they would have to fabricate it.
You have no obligation to return unordered merchandise, and you can expect that if you do, they will find some reason to still demand payment.
Maybe it will "never arrive", maybe it will be "damaged", or maybe they will charge a "restocking fee" for about what a normal toner cartridge is really worth. If you insure it, you might get to help them con the carrier, on your nickel. If you don't, they stick you for their full scam amount, for nothing.
The whole idea of any scam is to set it up so that whatever you do, you lose and they win. Any appearance that you might not have lost if you had only done something different is just illusion, a deception created to further the con.
The only way not to lose is not to play their game.

This company has called our office SEVERAL times over quite a period of time and each time suspicion arose over their cheery small talk promptly followed by toner-talk. We buy everything locally. If you question them they hang up faster than you can get your not-so-cheery small talk back at them. Today was the first time they slipped up and gave me a company name. Game on United Supply Source.
