Yesterday, we received a voice message on one of our cell phones.

Someone claiming to be "Officer Robert Richman", claimed that our number, name, and social security number had been referenced as part of a "complaint", and strongly suggested that we contact them back immediately.  The number he left was 936-657-4224.  The voice on the recording had a very thick foreign accent, perhaps Indian?, and sounded as if it had been mechanically altered.  We tried calling the number back, and got a recording suggesting that we give them our name and information and they would call us back.

We called several times trying to get through, each time becoming more convinced this was a scammer. We even attempted to look the agency up on Google to find out who they were.  We eventually cot through to them, and asked them directly who them were, and what agency they worked for.  The voice answering the phone, was the same voice that had left the recording. However he would not give his name, or who he worked for, and demanded that we tell him who we were, saying that their policy prohibited him from talking to anyone that concealed their identity.  He then went on to call us stupid for calling him, and demanded to know how we got his number.

This is absolutely a scam.

    They are a scam.

They are a bunch of scammers running a phony "debt collection" racket, extorting money for unowed and non-existent "debts" by telephoned threats.
They ar commonely reported to have thick Indian, Pakistani, or middle-eastern accents, and may even be calling from India or Pakistan.  They may have access to old payday loan data, or to U.S. consumer credit reports, which they use to fake "debts".  They impoersonate law enforcement, court clerks, attorneys, or whatever else they think will con suckers.

Do NOT believe their threats.  It is all bogus.  Do NOT believe anything they say.  Do NOT provide them any information.  Do NOT pay them.  Don't feed the bears.

I just got off the  phone with the same two people. I hung up the first time after he threatened with an arrest warrant. The second time he called I told him I would have to call him back because the police are at my door and I am filing a complaint against him.  The scary thing about is they have all of your personal information.

I just had the same type of call from a man nameing himself as ( Officer David Marshall ). I ask him for his badge# and he gave Badge Number: (8061) which i knew right then something was up if anybody has any affilliation with the law they know that an officer badge number typically has a lot more numbers than that. The call came from a TX number being 1 (210) 957-5344. And the name of the company he claimed to be with is the United States Crime Bureau. this is definatlly a scam after asking for his badge id I asked for a company web adress he began to yell at me almost screaming and telling me that I was in serious trouble and I would be going to prison for not paying on a loan I never had heard of. Then he hung up the phone,

I HAD A CALL THE OTHER DAY SAME STORY LINE EXCEPT HE WAS OFFICER MICHAEL GIBBS. HE SAID THAT IF I DIDNT AGREE TO PAY ON THIS THAT I WOULD BE SORRY AND THAT WITHIN 48 HOURS I WOULD FIND OUT. SO HE SAID THAT FOR ME TO LISTEN TO WHAT HE HAD TO SAY THEN I COULD ASK HIM QUESTIONS. HE HAD A VERY THICK ACCENT ALSO AND COULD BARELY UNDERSTAND HIM. NOW HE TOLD ME MY SSN# DATE OF BIRTH AND ADDRESS. SO I ASKED HIM WHO DID THE COMPLAINT AND HE COULD REALLY TELL ME UNTIL I MADE THE FIRST PAYMENT. THEN I ASKED FOR A ADDRESS TO SEND IN THE PAYMENT AND HE SAID HE WASNT ALLOWED TO GIVE THAT OUT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO GO TO WAL MART AND PURCHASE A DEBIT CARD PUT MONEY ON IT AND MAKE PAYMENTS THAT WAY. I TOLD HIM THAT I WASNT GOING TO DO THAT UNTIL I GOT SOME INFORMATION IN THE MAIL ON THE SITUATION. SO WHEN I WENT TO LUNCH I CALLED FROM HOME AGAIN ASKING QUESITONS AND ASKED FOR HIS SUPERIOR OFFICE WHICH WAS WILLIAM WALTERS. WELL IF YOU HAPPENED TO GET HIS VOICE MAIL IT COMES UP THAT YOU HAVE REACHED THE OFFICE OF WILLIAM WALTERS NOT MICHAEL GIBBS. SO I STARTED ASKING A LOT OF QUESTIONS AND THEN ASKED FOR HIS SUPERVISOR. I WAS ON HOLD FOR 5-7 MINUTES AND THEN ANOTHER GUY GOT ON THE PHONE WITH NOT AS THICK OF AN ACCENT BUT STILL SAME VOICE. I TOLD HIM I WANTED PAPERWORK PRESENTED TO ME OF THIS COMPLAINT AND THAT I WOULD BE CONSULTING MY ATTORNEY AND HE JUST BLEW UP YELLING AND SCREAMING ON THE PHONE SAYING FOR ME NOT TO GET JUST ONE ATTORNEY BUT 5 OR 6 CAUSE I WOULD NEED THEM AND HE HUNG UP.
THIS IS OBVIOUSLY THE SAME SCAM BEING DONE ON PEOPLE AND THE SAD THING IS THAT THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS. SO DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY IN TO ANYONE LIKE THIS BECAUSE AS SOON AS HE GOT HOSTILE AND THEN HUNG UP ON ME I KNEW THEN IT WAS A SCAM.

They are criminal con artists and phone extortionists, nothing more.

They have gotten access to U.S. consumer credit report and identity information, and are using it to threaten and extort people by phone.

No law enforecement officer in the United States would tell you to go to Walmart and get a prepaid debit card.

I got the same call yesterday and when they woulldn't provide the companies name to whom I suooosedly owed, I got suspicious.  The other red flag was he didn't use my entire first name, he only  used the first part.  Thick indian accent, hostile when questoned and threats that in 24 hours I would be sorry and the I better ask God foe help because I would need it.  I reported him and his phone number to the FBI TIP online where you can report extortionist.  I called him back and told him that he had been reported to the authorities and that he better watch his back.  Maybe I put a liitle fear in him like he's doing to all those innocent people.  Don't give them one shed of info.  These people screwed up so bad, that when I had the local police  call the number, they couldn't get my address or last 4 digits of my ss# right.  Ther're IDIOTS and that's being nice.

Even if they got your SSN right it wouldn't have proven anything.  They are reported to have gotten access to old payday loan data as well as credit report data.

"Maybe I put a liitle fear in him"
He is probably calling from halfway around the world, and keeps changing his phone number.  He has no reason to fear the "stupid Americans" he cons, but if it's obvious you won't be conned, he will move on to the next sucker.

They are idiots, but they must be fooling enough people to make it worth it.
