Yesterday, we received a voice message on one of our cell phones.

Someone claiming to be "Officer Robert Richman", claimed that our number, name, and social security number had been referenced as part of a "complaint", and strongly suggested that we contact them back immediately.  The number he left was 936-657-4224.  The voice on the recording had a very thick foreign accent, perhaps Indian?, and sounded as if it had been mechanically altered.  We tried calling the number back, and got a recording suggesting that we give them our name and information and they would call us back.

We called several times trying to get through, each time becoming more convinced this was a scammer. We even attempted to look the agency up on Google to find out who they were.  We eventually cot through to them, and asked them directly who them were, and what agency they worked for.  The voice answering the phone, was the same voice that had left the recording. However he would not give his name, or who he worked for, and demanded that we tell him who we were, saying that their policy prohibited him from talking to anyone that concealed their identity.  He then went on to call us stupid for calling him, and demanded to know how we got his number.

This is absolutely a scam.

These people are really pros. They called me saying they were from the United States Crime Unit , but when I called the BBB they never heard of them from that number. Spoke Indian,I Asked if I could speak to someone who can speak English they yelled at me saying I was rude to a police Officier and they are coming to my job to arrest me. I said lets do a three way call to the local police  and he yelled and said I hope you get wants coming to you. This site  was good so I knew I wasn't the only one to get scammed. I keep getting phone calls from an officer David Marshall once said he was with the sheriff's office in NY and I have gotten two calls from the same guy now saying he is with the USCB the phone number is a FL number they are (305) 728-8667 ext 155, (724) 228-8549. He has a heavy accent, when he called me from the NY office he told me they had a warrant for my arrest so I called my state police and they couldn't find anything when I told David that my state police didn't find anything he said he didn't file it with them yet.....when he called from the FL number he said they was coming to arrest me in the morning and that was Friday May 24,2013 um I'm not in jail......he called me today saying he was filing the papers with the courts, this is over a payday loan. DO NOT BELIEVE THESE PEOPLE. My state police said to disregard these phone calls.

I was just called by these guys and I actually work for Financial Crime Services which is a company that collects on worthless checks for the state. It is terrible that people like this will actually have honest people going to jail when they get a call from a legit company they think its a fraud because of these scammers!!(If that made any sense!) My husband is a cop and they say that these guys have magic jacks which are completely untraceable and use those to call. What creeps! Keep up the comments guys so we canm keep everyone aware.

I just rec'd a phone call from an officer David Marshall.  He says there has been a complaint filed against me for some moneys owed.  He had a very heavy middle eastern accent.  Says he was calling from United States Crime Bureau, which by the way, doesnt exist!!!  Left me a voicemail saying I had to call him back immediately or he would need to forego further options.  Please call back immediately and even wished me luck.  Dont fall for these scams, as I once did  few years ago.  They took me for a total of $2700.00.  After the third payment that they sent me a fake document showing paid in full, I noticed it was very odd looking so I brought it to my Lawyer, he came with me to police station and filed a report.  They knew this scam like the back of their hands and apologized to me but told me I would never see my money back but they would put in a formal report.  Dont be had people, its all fake.  If he were a real law enforecement agent working for big american branch, he'd speak a lot better English and know that he needs a better Indian fake name than, Officer David Marshall...God bless America  :)

My husband had two calks on the voicemail, using his fulk name, saying if he didnt call back in 24 hours or his attorney call back, they eould send an officer to arrest him. I called them back and they said they were with the united states crine bureau, which i tried looking up. There is none, and he said he was officer daniel blackwood. The number is 214-446-3596. My mom had one too, and she got scared and even sent money before i told her it was a scam.

I started getting these calls as well as fake "Chase" bank calls about a week after my computer was hacked. The information they claimed they had was not even close to my banking or credit status. Please know that NO bank will ask for your personal information other than your account name or pin. They will not ask for your email password or to send them money. Call the local or federal police. Block the call by subscribing to the federal do not call list. report the scammers and never ever divulge personal info.Chase bank will not call you 30 times in one day. They will not ask for passwords and they will not call you after business hours.

Thank you everyone who posted above. I recieved the same phone call from the same person only this time his name is Mike Davis. He claimed to be an officer collecting on behalf of Money cash advance of a debt that I owed which I don't recall making in the first place. He was very rude and had a very heavy accent like Pakistanian, Indian or something. The number he gave was from New York 646-937-9174. I'm glad he wasn't nearby because my husband was ready to choke him out!

Did he have an Indian accent? replies to ray
The Indian swindlers use VoIP to appear to be calling from US area codes.
They generally demand payment by prepaid debit card, often a "Green Dot from Walmart".
In reality, they are safely overseas.

I received a call from a LEAH SMITH from CMG HOLDINGS stating that I am being recorded on a federally mandated line for check fraud.  I have never committed check Fraud.  She told me that I can settle outside of court or they would serve me paperwork.  She demanded that I give her a correct email address for her to send me documents. When I asked her to mail the forms that she said I should have received 30 days ago, of which I have not, she said she has to get them to me in 24 to 48 hours.  I let her know that she needs to send me actual paper forms with my signature at the bottom for my attorney to look at.  She then began listing my entire social security number and people that she was going to contact from my family.  The problem, is that I do not have most of those people in my family.
