Deceptive Advertising and scams

I recently purchased a starter kit for the Chaz Dean Wen product through Guthy-Renker.  The product itself builds up on your hair with continued use and no longer works after a month.  Also, Guthy-Renker does not adequately advertise that upon purchase of the starter kit you are actually comitting to 3 additional months of product delivery and an additional amount charged automatically to your debit/credit card.  It is not clearly stated on the G-R site nor on the Chaz Dean homepage.
Guthy-Renker and Chaz Dean are obviously working together to defraud the consumer marketplace in this situation.

DO NOT ORDER THE WEN PRODUCT OR DO ANY BUSINESS WITH GUTHY-RENKER.

    Typical "health product" scam.

Dispute unauthorized or fraudulent charges through your bank, and close any accounts you have provided to prevent additional fraud.

I called CS at "Chaz Dean" and spoke to someone and they said they will stop further charges and that I do a return to sender. I was charged for "vitamins" and for "wen" to the tune of an unexpected $90.00  I speed read the terms and conditions and could find nowhere where they outline that they will continue to send and charge you from your debit card automatically.  Where is this fine print?  AND if I don't get a credit within 4 days--should I dispute unauthorized use of my credit card even though I purchased the product to try it out?

I am so tired of these scams on the internet--I almost don't want to buy anything anymore online for fear of fraud.

For serious account issues, you should call Guthy Renker Corporate, at 1-760-773-9022 from 9am-5pm M-F Pacific Time. Ask for a Customer Relations agent, preferably Renee (x5517), she has helped me in the past with GR issues. I hope this helps.

another low functioning coment. There is a hook here.It is not said in the comercial because it is the hook to get the call. At the call center it is not said up front. When it is said and the costomer says no I just am interested in trying it 1x or I do not need it every 3 months the reply is or ok  I can not do that for you but when the product comes call the costomer serv. number and make the changes.Put the buyer off so that hopefully they forget and continue recieving product 1 2 3 times more till they are out raged and call and are told we told you when you 1st called in. this is a trick played by many for years
I findit interesting that someone you took the call and was not paid well can defend the game.
If this product was all that it would be ligning the salon walls.

I am a very happy wen hair care and proactiv user. I have been with guthy renker off and on since 2001, only taking time off because of a backstock of product. When ordering off the tv, it does say on the screen about auto home delivery more than once. When ordering online, it tells you before placing your order in bold, normal sized letters. You can place a one time order with the conplany, but it is more expensive if you're not a member, as it should be. On every invoice you receive, it lists exactly what dates you will be billed and the amount, as well as your next shipping date.  I'm tired of hearing about this so called "scam" everytime I go to encourage people to try the products, which are great products that actually work once you give them a try.  a company shouldn't get a bad name due to a large amount of people who can't seem to actually read about what their buying before they buy it, or do what any responsible adult would do and check out the invoice that comes with a package.  the only issue I have ever faced with the company is supply and demand related. products are sometimes backordered for extended periods of time, which again, should say something about how many happy customers they have.

Hi, I was thinking about trying these products and I have seen the advert that talks about the home delivery. If you didn't mind helping me out. I'm from Portugal and the only way for me to get these would be for me to have someone with a US address to get them and ship them to me after right? Also how do I make sure I cancel the automatic home delivery. I don't want those until I know the product works on me. If you could answer me at b_serep@hotmail.com I would be very grateful. xx

Your an idiot. These people have deceptive business practices at best. The owners and majority stock owners of this collasiul scam should be thrown in jail. I bet they dont even reside in the us. Give every customer their home addresses so that they can return these unsiloicitated products.

First of all i just ordered the products and it states clearly that you are receiving a 30 day supply. Out also states the date that you will then receive your 90 day supply and the amount that your credit card will be charged. I'm not sure where all of these people are getting the idea that they are being "scammed" because it was very clear about what you were ordering, what you were being charged, when the next 90 day supply would be shipped, and the cost. As i read all of these comments about people believing they were somehow"scammed" i can't help but agree with those individuals who say that you need to pay better attention when purchasing anything. It also gives you an option of how frequently you would like to receive your shipments. For instance, i knew that i wouldn't go through the product in 4 weeks so i chose to gave my next shipment in 6 weeks. It really comes down to paying more attention.

In addition, i sent an email to the customer service center because i had some questions and received an email back within 24 hours. So i hope people make decisions for themselves, based on the quality of the products and not on the opinions of individuals who obviously do not know how to read.

      You're stupid.

I called and placed a phone order and NEVER ONCE was told that I was signing up for some monthly autoship program.

Wen's products have known carcinogens (not readily disclosed on website) in them so go ahead and slather it up.

      ALL PRODUCTS RETURNED...

It is true, I read all of the fine print, I cancelled the vitamins but kept the product for hair.  I am pissed because there is no warning on TV that you are in a monthly club for 35.00 which is deceptive.  So far, I like the product and that is why I am keeping it, I never received the starter kit- they were too greedy and sent the 90 day to try and hook me.  I am not stupid and let them know that. Read the fine print because they will charge monthly, if it were not a decent product I would report them to the BBC.  Chaz Dean should be ashamed and know better.  If Chaz stood by his products, he would not have to deceive the customers.

Hey [***], people who BUY A PRODUCT aren't there to make a life commitment. They just want to buy something. Why should you have to read fine print to establish if you're going to be scammed or not. Imagine going grocery shopping and paying at checkout n then a month later getting half a dozen items you previously bought ??? They'd get the [***] sued off them

And that's what should happen to these companies taking advantage of anybody. Who do you think you are?!!!

        lindsay replies to Mr Worker
It wasn't in the fine print, it was clear as day on the check out page. It even gave you an option as to how often you wanted the shipments to continue, 4 weeks, 5 weeks, 6 weeks, etc.

        100% agreed Mr. Worker!

@ Lindsay: Look at you! What a smart woman you are! And you gotta tell us all that you can read! Thanks so much and I really hope the feeling of predominance will still linger a little longer to feed your small ego!

I called them too and they never ever said anything like that. I was not aware they would go on an charge me for stuff I have not committed to. This is in fact a scam as the company knowingly prevent to tell you (at least when you call them) that they will send you more than one kit and they will charge you for this, even though you actually might wanna try only one kit.

Every reliable company that is actually treating it's customers fairly would not do stuff like that! Ever! Stay away from this scam.
