Country: United States
I got a call today at home from a man stating he was a process server for Collin County DA's Office and he is with the Sheriff's office and needed to come serve a warrant on me.  I was shocked and asked why?  He stated do you live ....are you still at this address are you now at this address and I stated who are you?  He again, stated he was from the county going to serve court papers on me today. He gave me a toll free number for what he stated was the county's office which is 1 866.872.6116 gave me a case no. which he called a Cause No. 008307-TX. I called the number was transferred to a Mr. Fisher's office who stated that law suite in the amount of $6,214.24 was filed in Collin Co., Tx and that warrant was out for me.  He then after back and forth said let me get more information from my secretary and state this was for an outstanding debt in from Capital One a credit card that I obtained several years back and had disputes over interest charges etc.  He stated that if I did not want to go to court or jail that I could pay $1,951.00 in full by end of business today and this matter could be cleared up.  I explained that I recently lost my job etc.  Anyway, he stated that I needed to call him back by EOB today or they will serve the papers.  Ok, so that was a heads up for me.  I called the DA's office nothing is filed on me as of today, after searching PMG it is clear that they do not practice best practices for collections and have been in trouble for this before back in 2004.  I need someone to give me advise. I want to pay off my debt, I don't want this type of collections to continue this upset me, made my blood pressure raise, this type of collections are not the right thing to do.  Had they called and ask to make arrangements or give me an opportunity to clear the matter, rather then threaten me by taken legal action, or harassment stating they are sending a sheriff over today.  This is wrong, bad business, and should not continue this company is bad news.

Been following this train wreck for the past few months, and all I can say with certainty is the following:

    1. Low level employees are totally screwed at this point. You already had a crappy Thanksgiving (guess you guys didn't get to enjoy Black Friday or Cyber Monday like the rest of us who have real jobs) and Christmas probably won't be much better. Its time to stop demanding your 'rightfully earned' pay and accept the fact that minimum wage is about the best that you're going to get at this point.

    2. The ringleaders might still have the bulk of their cash, but their reputations are shot. Their neighbors, friends and relatives all know that they're crooks. Even though they have little remorse, it must still be pretty unnerving to know that everyone in your world thinks that you're scum.

    3. Yeah, the process server scam is still continuing, but its getting harder and harder for them to make an easy buck off of unsuspecting prey. I'd be willing to bet that the owners regularly have to open new bank accounts because of the massive amount of chargebacks being initiated. Pretty hard to pay your own bills when you rely on scamming to earn a living.

    4. It won't last. As the number of victims rise, I won't be surprised when these 'process servers' have to start dealing with serious repercussions. Maybe they'll never go to jail and perhaps they will be able to keep most of the money that they've stolen, but eventually they will pay the price. You can only tempt fate but so many times, and the rest will be history.

    5. It must be easy to scam when you've convinced yourself that you're a 'good guy.' So, these employees - oops, 'independent contractors,' try to locate debtors while acting all self righteous and sanctimonious. If the 'dead beats' agree to pay the 'debt,' everything is all good because they get to go to the bank and they've 'helped' someone to avoid legal action and keep their credit intact.

Anyone that thwarts their efforts is immediately labeled a liar - as if they couldn't possibly be harassing someone with a similar name, or, gasp, a person that already satisfied the debt in question. Again, this is all said with the assumption that the debts were valid and that the 'process servers' actually had the right to collect upon them - which we all know is completely false. Getting angry because a debtor refuses to pay on a time barred threat is like getting mad when you pick someone's pocket and find that there's no money inside.

The main problem with this theory is that they dinged their credit reports with an inquiry without any permissable purpose. So, they think that lowering their credit scores first, then contacting their employers and relatives and threatening them with legal action is justifiable? So its okay to break the law because, you know, they didn't physically hurt anyone. But, they come down with the wrath of God almighty on anyone that questions their motives or refuses to pay without proper validation? Right.

Anyone that went to work for these Corona scam companies had to been having financial issues. Meaning that they knew what it felt like to have collection agencies call and send letters. They had at least had a basic understanding of what was permitted under law, but yet disregarded that information when it came to them collecting a fat check. In a way, its actually funny because they're more angry about getting caught and losing their source of money rather than being implicated in a nationwide scam. How pathetic.

So, the next time one of you shills shows up typing in all caps, threatens to report the 'meanies' to the authorities for slander, accuses anyone that disagrees with them of being deadbeats or says that the economy is in the shape that it is because of irresponsible consumers, just try looking in the mirror first. If you are unable to form a coherent argument that addresses each one of the main points (i.e., why the FTC came down on Lunsford and Begley), while composing a post that is grammatically correct, uses correct syntax and properly spelled, you're just showing yourself to be inept. You can't fake being smart just like you can't hide being a scammer forever. Over the phone, you can be anyone that you want to be. Not so easy on the Internets, is it?

Hope all the former independent contractors have a wonderful holiday! I know I will :P

wow smart guy....your such a clown...way too much time on your hand...get a life...pay your debt and debt collecters will not call. just because you can spell does not make you smart. I can read between the lines. your a weak little lonely person with nothing better to do, so you sit at your computer and try and sound smart. All you are is redundant.

    they need jail time
Excellent post! I agree wholeheartedly with everything that was stated above.
JC is dangerous with all his BS.
Does anyone really believe a word he says?
At this point I am ready to see some criminal charges against these
    [***].

The only thing funnier than this wordy attempt at sounding intelligent is that you actually replied to it with a compliment to yourself.  There were people with Master's and Bachelor's degrees working there that had every reason to believe what was going on was legitimate because the only experience they have had with the workforce was legitimate.  For you to celebrate their demise and the unfortunate events that befell them and their families is probably the only thing that shows your ignorance more than the countless redundancies and falsities that pepper your "summary".  You sir are a fool and I will give you a tip for future attempts at seeming smart; that is when speaking, do so more limitedly as it provides less oppurtunity to expose your stupidity.  Ignorance is bliss so I imagine your holiday and every day that follows will be blissful!

    ???...
    you sound like a shill.

The case was made quite clearly...
which is more than you can say about your own post.  Nothing but unsupported rhetoric.  All you can do is attack those who are fed up with your fraudulent scheme.

Not much to show for having a Bachelor's or Master's, if you didn't even  learn to beware of people spouting BS.

Many people are fed up with your scam, and with those who continue to perpetrate it.  Some are your intended victims, some are relatives of your victims, and some just don't like creeps and trash moving into the "neighborhood", pretending to be "legitimate debt collectors".

Oh, wait, you weren't "debt collectors", you were "process servers", or "sheriff's deputies", or was it "paralegals who were not debt collectors" (so YOU don't have to follow FDCPA), or was it "a filing firm who files lawsuits, but was not an attorney", or were you actually playing "attorney" that week?  Or you were "with the county court", or "the DA".  You changed your story so many times.

We know that if you are allowed to continue, sooner or later, you will scam someone we know, maybe even a relative.  Better to drive you out now, when you are on the run.  Gather up the "torches" and the "pitchforks".  It's time to visit the old "Corona mansion" and root out the evil that lives there.

    jeb
I worked for this company for 45 days up until the raid.  I have just read most of the posts and have found it to be a very interesting read.  I am one of those college educated low level employees.  I had built up a nice pay file but never received a dime for my many hours of work.  Yes I said work.  What most of you people don't understand is that everyone we called actually lied to the banks when they filled out their credit applications.  Yes there were a few bad apples, but that is true in every profession.  I enjoyed my time working for this company and respected management and yes Jeb is my real name!

    dumb as dirt
Jeb, I find it hard to believe that you went to college and obtained a degree
and then went to work as a telemarketer, Most people who attend college and finish do not end up in that type of job. You must be really slow.
I'm glad you have respect for this company and management because you just got ripped off just like you were ripping off your victims. You really are dumb.

    dumb as dirt,

You must find a lot of things hard to believe.  Take responsibility for your own actions and please cease with the judging.

    You got your money..
by making threats and lying.  Complaints report your lies against all Corona LLCs and phone numbers, so it was not just "some bad apples".  Your own scripts, obtained by FTC in the raids, documented your planned deception.

"What most of you people don't understand is that everyone we called actually lied to the banks when they filled out their credit applications."

You could have no way of knowing if anyone you called had lied to any bank.  You didn't even have access to enough information to determine that, and your scripts guided you to evade FDCPA required validation, so you conned people even when they owed nothing, as FTC documented in their court filings.

There is no reason to believe you.

    Not all reputations are ruined
This has not even been "big news" in the Sun City/Menifee area.  Wayne's friends still view him as the second coming.  Or maybe they are just still enamoured of all the money the Lunsfords are still throwing around.

    They can't get it
Looks like the corona scam turning into the temecula collections scam

A breach of contract is a lie.  Everyone we called actually owed money and instead of doing the right and noble thing decided to run and hide and not pay their bills.  So yes they lied when they said they would accept all the stipulations in their loan application for that credit card or loan.

    >>>>>>>
Don't you people ever get tired of this? Leave it alone already, everyone else has moved on, maybe you should as well.  Talk about beating a dead horse, all of you are pathetic. It's really pretty damn entertaining to come on here and read all the ridiculously, narrow-minded comments that people from both sides of the issue are writing.  Bottom line, if your one of the "employees" that got screwed, hey, find another job. And, if your one of the whistle blowers that keeps posting, well, it's obvious you don't have a job because you keep posting.  Let the courts settle this, and just shut up already, everyone!!

    make me stop
Then why in the hell are you posting on here.
Worry about yourself and don't worry about when and why the public wants to post a comment.
If I want I can sit her all day long and make comments.
It's truly none of your business.
My job status is not your concern, but if you need to know I am retired and have plenty of time and money to post whatever comments I feel like posting.
If you don't like it then don't read it.
It' sounds like you are just tired of being exposed over and over again.
This is a message board, to tell everyone on her to stop posting messages and to shut up is probably one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. You must be a debt collector with a genius mind like yours!

jeb needs a life and a job
Jeb, People may of owed money but they did not owe it to you.
You need to understand you were not working for a reputable company.
You harassed people that did not owe anything to anyone and I honestly hope you go to jail. You need to go back to school and learn some ethics and morals because you seem to think you have done nothing wrong.
You are dishonest and in denial. You sir are the liar.
Now, go see if Jack in the box is hiring because debt collection does not seem to be paying your bills.

    enjoy while you can
The Sun City/Menifee area is a pretty sad place to live.
It really is the armpit of Southern Ca.
Great place to make or buy meth though.
The reason it hasn't been big news over there is because over half of the friggin city can't read or write.
I'm glad he's throwing money around because what he doesn't give away will be taken from him real soon.

    What's really odd...
Is the fact that you assume that I am a man. Are men the only people that you believe can form logical arguments or remain unemotional? Again, please note that the angry shill failed to actually address any of the points made above. Just like I thought.

You and your friends celebrated each and every ill gotten gain collected. Why can't I have a good chuckle at your misfortune? You cared not for the family members that were harassed in pursuit of a 'paycheck,' and you certainly didn't care if the victims got fired after repeatedly being harassed at work. So once again, save the sanctimonious drivel for someone that might believe the lies. You know, like when you had to explain to your family that you're broke and don't have the skills to find work elsewhere.

On a final note, please brush up on your basic understanding of proper nouns, comma usage, compound sentences and capitalization. While I wouldn't be so quick to question intelligence if I wasn't able to spell basic words like 'opportunity,' I really get it. You're in a lot of pain,
don't appreciate the fact that you're being mocked and truly think that you should be given a break. That's why I'm not even touch any of the 'points' made in your circular arguments. I guess debating 101 wasn't offered at your alma mater.

Even still, I applaud your efforts to write a grammatically correct post that wasn't completely riddled with errors. I'm not one to give kudos to mediocrity, but at least you are applying yourself somewhere. Must have taken you an awful long time to come up with something worthy of, oh, maybe a C+ grade. Thanks again for playing the shill game! Come back again soon!
