Problem with loud noise during spin cycle

My husband just got off the phone with a customer service rep from Maytag and is he upset. We have a 3000 series washer that we have had for 2 years. It started making a very loud noise during the spin cycle, so we called to see what the problem could be and how to rectify it. Customer service pretty much shuffled him around (transferring his call so that he actually spoke to and explained the situation to three separate people). The first person told him that they had been having issues with this problem and that the labor and parts would be covered. He then transferred to another person to get further information. Once my husband gave the second person all the information, she then transferred him to the third person, who basically told my husband that he could purchase the extended warranty, roughly $316, and that might cover the problem and be in effect for one year. He declined that offer, since the first person told him the parts and labor would be covered. The third person told my husband that the first agent had "misspoke". Once he was off the phone I told him I would look this problem online and see what it could be and I was surprised to see that this is a REGULAR REOCCURING problem with this washer that the company is WELL aware of. Very frustrating to learn that the company does not stand behind the product and take better care of the customers who loyally purchase their products. Hopefully we can get our washer fixed and it will last awhile longer. We are calling our local repairman, from the company that sold us the machine to see what can be done. But, we will not be purchasing another Maytag product.

loud noise and shut off with a code 70 & 71. I called maytag since these codes are not in my manual. i was told tha i could pay $399.00 that would cover service call and parts to fix it. All i wanted to know id what the codes meant .lady told me tat machine needed to be serviced.I dont have this amount of money i am laid off my job. I dont mind paying a service call but i dont feel like i should have to after reading all the complaints this washer has on it.Please dont change my mind on maytag being the best.It will wash half way thru then shut down at code 70 or 71 with clothes full of water.
ploease help
Also, customer service representatives are advised annd instructed to never leave their own forums supported by their own respective websites as per a certain law which I again am just too lazy and tired to look up that was passed in light of insurance scams and everything. The scams had to do with people claiming to be real life employees of the company in complaint coming and telling everyone misdirecting comments or confusing and utterly horrific customer service. In the light of these trolls laws were passed requiring that companies stay put in their own respective forus nd supported customer support hotlines to avoid any more of thhese miscommunications. Never listen to anyoone who claims to be an employee of a company in question in a forumm as this could possibly llead to certain details eing given that would make you liable to being in full honesty "trolled".
Also it is a notable offense to even take the qord of someone who asks you for information as intimate as your name and phone number as such things nowadays are enough for skilled identity thiefs to carry out their malfunctory practices. Please anyone who reads take note of everything listed (hopefully you can answer my question). I will be scanning this blog often to check on this post and see if annyone has put out some sort helpful advice for me. Again, I understand it could just be the bearings, but I want to see if their is anything else that could possibly be done or if most toploaders make that noise when thhey are getting old. Also for all of you out there raging at Maytag for poor quality in their products, by a GE. They are depedable enough so far as I have seen and very consumer friendly (though ours was made when people still used floppy discs as a common storage device so yeah. Things may have changed but this washer is a loyal old piece and I would hate to part with it now.
