My husband just got off the phone with a customer service rep from Maytag and is he upset.  We have a 3000 series washer that we have had for 2 years.  It started making a very loud noise during the spin cycle, so we called to see what the problem could be and how to rectify it.  Customer service pretty much shuffled him around (transferring his call so that he actually spoke to and explained the situation to three separate people).  The first person told him that they had been having issues with this problem and that the labor and parts would be covered.  He then transferred to another person to get further information.  Once my husband gave the second person all the information, she then transferred him to the third person, who basically told my husband that he could purchase the extended warranty, roughly $316, and that might cover the problem and be in effect for one year.  He declined that offer, since the first person told him the parts and labor would be covered.  The third person told my husband that the first agent had "misspoke". Once he was off the phone I told him I would look this problem  online and see what it could be and I was surprised to see that this is a REGULAR REOCCURING problem with this washer that the company is WELL aware of.  Very frustrating to learn that the company does not stand behind the product and take better care of the customers who loyally purchase their products.   Hopefully we can get our washer fixed and it will last awhile longer. We are calling our local repairman, from the company that sold us the machine to see what can be done.  But, we will not be purchasing another Maytag product.

We have had our maytag 3000 series for 3 years now and omg! I agree it does sound like a jet taking off during the spin cycle! Also the codes all the time! My Affresh cycle has never worked and the parts and labor hang on to your pants! I agree we will never buy a Maytag again! There name defiantly doesn't stand up like it used too. It is all down to the mighty dollar!

We have the same problem. We had the largest earthquake in Virginias history, after which, my son replied, "That was an earthquake? I thought it was the washer"...WOW

Can I put my 3000 in the recall for mold?  Saw on today show but Maytag is not listed.  Spent a lot on this washer just to smell like mold.  I spend more in electricity to re wash or even just to get clean.  Really wish I had my old washer back.....hate having my house and clothes stink!

my magtag washer is during the same thing on the spin cycle, it makes a loud, roaring sound, as though a jet or plane is taking off from my wash room.  I contacted maytag customer service by phone, I gave them the model number, they verified the info and then told me that my washer was out of warranty and it would  cost me 300.00 some odd dollar amount for an extended warranty also.
my washer is also leaking now, water is getting all over the washer room floor.  The more washing the more water on the floor.
    What can I do.

my maytag washer is also during the same thing on the spin cycle. Sounds like a plane taking off from my wash room.  Contacted maytag, their customer service dept. suggested that I purchase a service plan, because my washer was out of warranty also.  Plan costs 334.00 for year warranty.
My washer is also leaking now, water is over my washroom floor, too.
What should we do, just purchase the  warranty or what? I checked  into the cost of the inside tub that contain the new bearing @ the bottom, it costs 200.00
or the bearing replacement kit costs 80.00, but you have to buy the tool to put the part on, it cost 80.00.
Well, then there is the labor for each one of these repairs.  I found a repairman that will charge me 125.00 labor, I guess. Or if we choose to only repair the bearing, going the cheaper route, the labor will cost more, so it may not be the cheapest.
    what then?

I too have a maytag bravo and this loud noise also during the spin cycle!! I bought it in 2011 and purchased a 4 yr extended warranty .. Thank goodness!! But this will be the second time they had to come and fix the spin cycle problem!! First time it wouldn't spin at all.. Now this noise!! I owned a maytag for years and the set I had I had to leave it when I sold my house.. They never gave me a problem but these new ones are horrible!! Never again Maytag!!

I bought a Neptune Maytag front loading wash machine about 7 years ago.  I bought my first Maytag when Maytag were still manufacturing their own appliances and it lasted for 25 years.  I can not believed that the bearings in this machine have worn out so soon. I has really inconvenienced me and living on a limited income has caused me financial hardship.  I bought this appliance with a lifetime lasting washer in mind.  I will never buy another Maytag appliance again and will recommend to my friends and family not to buy any appliances that have been made by the same manufacture.  What has happened to North American quality or is it?  My repair man told me that it would cost around $600.00 (Canadian) to fix it and it is not worth the trouble.  He told me to buy an new machine.

Have the Maytag washer during the spin cycle I must turn up the TV it is so loud. We have had this washer for a couple of years and was this way when we brought it home from Menards. Talked to Menards about one week after purchasing and was told they are all like that.
Will never purchase another Maytag product and Menards is on my Shi? list.

Called Maytag (Whirlpool) to see if there was an out of balance switch that shuts the washer down if the load gets too far out of balance during the spin cycle.  My washer tub will actually hit the sides when spinning if the load is very far out of balance.  Couldn't get an answer other than they didn't have any information.  Note:  I have been working on washers for over 45 years and every Maytag I worked on up to 2001 when I bought this one had a feature that would shut the machine off when the load got too far out of balance during the spin cycle.  I have the service manual which is one of the worst I have ever seen, and it does not address this problem along with a long list of others.  Not only will I never buy another Maytag or Whirlpool appliance I will advise the hundreds of contacts I have of my experience.

I purchased the Maytag Bravo MCT top loading washing machine three years ago. Today during the spin cycle it sounded as if a jet engine was running. Apparently this is a common problem and it sounds like I will be spending more money to fix this issue. This will be the last maytag appliance I purchase.

We too are having this problem again with our Maytag 400 quiet series. Contacted Maytag customer service before the 1 year warranty was up the first time they sent someone out to repair it. They extended the warranty for us for 6 months. Less than a year later same issue and water leaking had to repair it ourselves, because Maytag would do nothing. We have had it fixed 3 times in the 5 years that we have had it. Will Never buy a maytag again. Anything........ I just remodeled my entire kitchen and not one maytag appliance in there.

Same problem with the loud roar during the spin cycle; found some promising info at fixya.com that might enable me to fix it myself for a fraction of the cost of service.
