Annoying phone calls
Complaint

Ok, the number 702-520-1131 keeps frigging calling my phone and when I pick up it's an automated voice that says "This is the last warning that your factory auto insurance is going to run out" or something. I hang up every time because our auto insurance is fine. I have no idea where they got my number from but I want them to stop calling me.

STOP CALLING!
We should all file complaints with their local BBB!
Digitcomk, of course. spent more money calling the number, just got a tape saying" gosh were sorry..."
So lts all get together and call digitcomm on a certain day at a certain time and tie up everything we can, then we'll just say "gosh, were sorry..."
I traced phone number 310.599.9114 to a landline at Digitcom Services. Either this is a fraudulent outfit, or they are systematically providing services to a fraudulent outfit.

If you look closely tho, Joe's number is so close to mine...Its the same company most likely but the number changes so its probably impossible to block them or anything
- this forum is NOT effective
- this forum is routinely trolled by Digitcom Services
- the Digitcom reps frequenting this forum are providing false info to lead you astray
- Do Not Call lists are NOT effective. The gov't sets up a list that is immediately flooded with millions of people seeking NOT to be called. The list is the easiest and cheapest access to millions of phone numbers to any telemarketer. Telemarketers increase their call activity and the gov't gets flooded with complaints that they DO NOT have the proper resources to handle (small oversight)
- Telemarketers know that the gov't is backlogged with complaints
- Gov't help is rendered time-consuming and useless
Remember this, for every 10 people who takes a stand or complain about these guys, there is 1 who falls for it and provides their personal info. At 10% odds, factoring in thousands of calls across North America each day, I'd say these guys have quite the little enterprise going. Lawsuits won't even dent their bottom line, kinda like suing a multi-billion dollar chemical company 10 thousand dollars for dumping waste into the ocean. CLEARLY NOT A DETERRENT.
So . . . Complaints don't work, Do Not Call Lists don't work and Lawsuits don't work. What does this leave us with ? VIGILANTE JUSTICE !!
Burn the [***] down.
Here's the theory, you're getting called from an automated phishing system. The system receives a caller list and begins auto-dialing these numbers. If you answer, there is an automated message about car insurance or banking, etc. and then it hangs up. The real money is in answering. What the program is doing is creating a database matrix of phone numbers and the time of day that the number is most frequently answered if at all. That explains the repeat calls people have been getting. The database is compiled and then sold for HUGE $$$$ to telemarketers who now have your number and the best time of day to reach you (priceless info).
As for do not call lists . . . what a joke. There is a post above that is so true. The government gets thousands of complaints a day about list violations and they just can't keep up. The list has turned into the best FREE source of phone numbers for these companies to find you and harass you.
If you want to win against them, you have to NEVER answer. The system probably has a default number of pings before giving up. You just have to outlast, Im not sure how many calls you would need to ignore, but I am sure you have to ignore them. If you answer, they win.
Hope that helps.
