SST bought my Washington Mutual Card. I already have an account with SSN because they bought my Providian card two years ago. The service is so horrible that as soon as I found out that they took over my WAMU card I paid off the balance.

A month later I received a statement with a $4.00 finance charge. I couldn't believe it. I called them and they explained that the finance charge was back-billed!? The guy threatened to send my account to collections if I don't pay. What make this situation ridiculous is that if I pay online, their online system doesn't except payments that are less than $5.00. If I agree to pay by phone they charge $10.00 to do it.

The only option I have is to mail them this payment that I don't think I even legally owe. Oh, and one more ridiculous thing, if you pay online more than $200, they will hold your payment before crediting your account for 10 days!

Their customer service is rude and it's hard to get to anyone there. The best way to get to SST is to call 1-800-388-1806 and choose the option that says your card was stolen. They will get to right away. Then ask for a transfer to customer service.

For every one else whose account was transfered to SST Card Services Run from this company. Close your account. Don't activate your new card, and just stay away from this dirty company.

Agree...  Run; AND report them to the Better Business Bureau, Federal Trade Commission, and your state Attorney General!

My WAMU card was sold to SST three months ago, on 7/5/07 I made a payment through their website, which they didn't post - and don't supply you with a confirmation number... - so now they tell me it is my fault, and I must pay the $39 late fee!  (I've never had a late payment, and have good credit) I'm transferring my balance to a new account with a different company who has offered me 0% APR on balance transfers, and am closing my account - via certified mail!  It will cost them more than $39 in staff hours to deal with the government inquiries and they've already lost the $$$$$$$$$$ they would have earned off of my interest rate...  Consumers do have the power in this instance - not the company!  Let's remind them of that!

I have to agree....My WAMU card was also to SST and I am being charged a Cash finance fee along with my regular fiance fee. I was told this was because some merchants put through charges as cash instead of charge. I have NEVER heard of this before. I have spoken with several of other creditors and was told this was untrue. I have never had a cash advance and spoke to rep a month ago and was told I could have the charges reversed but, I would have to look at my statements first. I did and called back and of course NO REFUND! I said I would gladly pay the fee if it could be shown where I made this cash advance or was rung up that way the associate indicated she couldn't provide me the info and to read my disclosure statement again. ( Which of course covers a cash advance ). I am making this card a first priority to pay off and vow to never use it again!!!

We also have a problem with a WAMU that was also converted to SST. We are in the process of buying a home and SST popped up on my husband's credit report as owing $99.00 and that card was paid off years ago and is no longer in his possession. They are saying it is interest!!!!!   It is affecting his credit score that is preventing us getting a better interest rate on our mortgage....... This is terrible, after all this time we suddenly owe them $99.00? My husband is going back and forth with them and we will end up paying the $99.00 so that they can re-score his credit once this payment posts.  Unbelievable, we are at the mercy of these types of creditors who report things like this..............

I have beeb dealing with Providian card service and was doing great on my payments until the sold out to SSt card service. For some reason i have to pay my payment and my finance charge every mont but they don't add it all together. They are ripping people off and they need to be check out by the BBB becausec every month i make a payment my balance seems to be going up instead of down. I went from a couple of hundred dollars to almost a thousand dollars and i haven't used my card in over 5 years and i had it ccancel after it got stolen. I even repoted it to providian before they sold out.  SST card needs to be investigate really bad.

What is everyone doing about this company?  I still have not resolved an issue (and have no time to hassle with it) where they added 400.00 onto the acct. because of a supposed "bounced" payment which they found 18 months after the fact.  I just don't want my credit hurt but I really don't want to pay this bill either.
    Please advise.

I, too, have had nothing but problems since my Providian card was sold to this horrible compnay, SST. I never received any notices that my account was sold until I tried to make a payment online & was unable to access my account. From that point on, I have had nothing but problems. My account was fine the whole time that I had Providian & was on the way to being paid off. I closed the account in 2004 before SST even took the account over & after not having used this card in nearly 4 years now, the balance has just increased. How can that be possible? It all started when they first took over my account & I could no longer access my online account. By the time I found out who they were & that I had to get a new account online made up, my payment was late. Ever since, I've been assessed some fee for something & the balance keeps going up! It's now over $1,000. How does that happen on a card that is closed & hasn't been used in nearly 4 years?? I've recently contacted the BBB, but SST just lies & says that any fees incurred are justified. With this company, your balance will never get paid off. I've read that even when balances are paid off, consumers still keep getting bills for bogus finance charges! I'm preparing a case against SST to submit to the Attorney General's office. I suggest that everyone else do the same

This sounds totally bogus! This company is gouging consumers any way they can. What proof do we really have? One consumer from another complaint site contacted the Attorney General's office regarding an account that was also sold to SST, but the balance kept increasing instead of decreasing. He requested an investigation & after the Attorney General's office monitored his account for 30 days, it was proven that this consumer was owed money back from SST that he had overpaid. He suggested that everyone having problems with their SST accounts, contact the Attorney Generals office. At least file a complaint. You can easily do it online. Good luck!

Does anyone know what the time limit and or legal right is for a credit card company who you have had no communication with for 7 years, no payment, no conversation etc to then have them close the account in Oct 2016 and then send to collection 12/2016. I thought the time limit was 7 years.

    Virginia Martinez,No Mercy!
My Providian accounts were sold to SST. I pay on time and my balence never goes down. I have tried to be reasonable with them. In the credit world they privide a no win situation. If a person closes an account by means of pay off it can still show up as negitive on your credit report. I also found out that SST is really just a collections agency. They will never lower your interest rate because they say they are just there for debt collecting The part I do not understand is why a person who had a good payment history would have to be sent to the SST card people. We all have no hope of ever paying off our accounts. We all did not ask for their card. I agreed to the terms and conditions I signed on with as a Providian card holder. We all do need to turn them in as stated above. This company is run by a bunch of crooks and they are getting away with all of are money, lets do something!
