I am currently being scammed, but they haven't gotten any money from me.  I supposedly won $6,500,000 and a 2017 Mercedes-Benz C Class worth $95,000 from Mega-Millions.  They sent a fancy email describing my "prizes."  I have had 100+ calls from a Larry Johnson at 876-328-4458.  He says he is from California, but you can use that number anywhere there is phone service.  He could be calling from out of the country.  I was supposed to send $500 cash for shipping expenses to an address in Georgia via overnight express for another $22.95.  That was supposed to be the maximum out of pocket expenses to me.  Two days later, I was told I needed to send $4,500 cash for customs fees to an address in Connecticut; also overnight express for another $22.95.  Oh, and don't tell anybody until we deliver your prize.  I found out from Google Earth that both of these businesses are dwellings in not fancy neighborhoods; not what you would expect from a company dealing in the big bucks.  I called the Mercedes-Benz dealer in Las Vegas where the car is supposed to be coming from.  The dealer said they have not recently sold a Mercedes-Benz to Mega-Millions.  Also, I was told you can buy a nicely supplied 2017 C Class for about half of the claimed value.  I have two other phone numbers:  The company office at 408-837-9371 and Chairman of the Board a Mr. John Benjamin at 937-303-0537.

Received a call from an unknown number and the callers name was Tony Smith.  He stated he  was a UPS agent assigned to MegaBucks and I had won a certified check for $250,000.00, a chevy malibu with free year of insurance from Geico and gas card for a year.  (gave me choices of colors) and a gift basket.  He provided a UPS package #, a Certified Check number from Bank of America and a confirmation number.  He also gave me the number to the main office in Washington 206-666-8420 (does not work) and his manager John Jackson who when called me said he was an attorney 306-977-7711.  The so called UPS Agent said he needed further information form me and asked me what is my work position. I said "If I won why does my work position matter?"  He then gave me John Jackson's phone number.  I was not able to talk with John Jackson to see how far the scam would go.  I will contact the companies and report the fraud.

My mother received a call from a man using the name of DAVID ANDERSON.  He said she won two Mercedes Benz cars and $19 million.  In which $ 5.5 million would be paid in $100.00 dollar bills.  That the FBI would be with him and the cars would arrive at the house tomorrow at 2:30 pm on flatbed trucks and he would be there with two FBI agents to accompany her and I to the bank. I heard about the scam  where they try and get you to say "YES",  I avoided saying yes and used other phrases.  I knew it was a scam right off the bat, but played along.   He said he would call her tomorrow morning  with an amount that she needed to take to Western Union and send money to the Sweepstakes.  Phone number he called from is 876.347.6299.  BE WARE!!!!!!!

Called my house and claimed to be Attorney James Jackson from the Procter And g***le Legal Dept. He told me I had been chosen as a 2nd place winner in a sweepstakes that was sponsored by Procter And g***le. He told me I had won $950,000.00. He then gave me a claims number and told me to contact an agent Dennis Marsh with the Dept. Of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs in Washington D.C. at 202-869-2360. He then explained to me that 2 men from Brinks Security would be coming to my house on 5/12/2017 to check and make sure I was who I said I was. He said they would need 2 forms of I.D., one of which should have my picture on it. Next he told me that there was a document bond that needed to be paid in order for me to receive a certified cashiers check for $950,000.00. He said the document bond cost would be 0.5% of my total winnings which would come out to be $4,750.00. Then he told me that if I couldn't pay that then there was a federal assistance program that I would be approved for to help me pay for that so that I could collect my money. He then told me to call Dennis Marsh for more information. When I called Dennis Marsh, he was going to explain my options for paying the document bond fee, but I cut him short and asked him if he would like to buy some oyster reefs that I had for sale in central Tennessee. He then hung up on me. I then called Procter and g***le as well as the real Dept. Of Consumer And Regulatory Affairs. Both denied having any involvement in any sweepstakes and neither knew who Attorney James Jackson or Agent Dennis Marsh was. After speaking with both of them, I called Attorney Jackson back and told him what they said. He told me he was a very busy man and wasn't here to convince me if This was for real or not. Then he said he would be mailing me all of the information so that I could fill out the forms myself. I then told him that I owned a movie production company and asked him if he would like a part in an upcoming movie I was producing because he was a great actor. He said have a great day sir and hung up. This number is a scam that some elderly person is going to fall for and that in itself is a shame.

So my wife received a call from James Peterson claiming to be from Mega Millions. He claimed that we had won 2 million dollars, and a suitcase full of other goodies, including a key to either a Benz or a BMW. He was very convincing. I am always Leary of calls like this so I called the number, it rang to a what I think is a cell phone in Jamaica. I say this because when he answered my call, her line hung up. I hung up the call mid sentence. He immediately called my wife back and got mad at her for "hanging up on him" when we questioned him about what contest we entered he got frustrated and said his boss would call her back tomorrow.

    James Peterson "mega millions"
    Phone number 876-577-3069
Mega Millions says on their website they will never contact anyone via phone or email for winnings

Got the scam phone call this morning - usual spiel - won $2,5 million plus Mercedes. I had to go to Walmart and western union $499.42. I knew immediately this was a scam    typical east Indian accent but I played along. I filed a police report tho there is nothing they can do. He said he was Mark Johnson, and to wire the money to Samantha Holness in Philadelphia PA. Of course I didn't and he spent most of today ringing me relentlessly. Eventually I answered- told him I knew it was a scam and he became verbally hostile. Just hope he is bored with me and will leave me alone.

We just got a couple calls from "Frank Miller" he couldnt spell MegaMillions, claimed it was MagerMillion....  I asked to speak to supervisor, got "Mary Bell" claiming my husband won 2.5 million and white cadillac.  I knew of course it was a scam but asked them a number of questions.  They wanted 1% of winnings sent as shipping fee....wow expensive to send a check nowadays.  They claimed to be in Achitson Kansas but had a hard time giving me the address, I  could hear them shuffling papers as they looked for answers.  Did not have a foreign accent, instead sounded like mentally disabled people, hard to understand "supervisor"... if you are going to do a scam, ar least make it believable!  They said address was 314 North st., which does not exist in Achitson KS.  Gave number as 9132048731, bad number, caller id said Unavailable or private call.   ADVICE if anyone offers to give you money but you must PAY a fee, IT IS A SCAM.  Strangely I even said to the woman, "I will call the Achitson KS police and check to see if you are legitimate, is that fair..."  and she said Yes...and didn't hang up.  And called me back yet again.  I did call the police in fact, but apparently they get so many of these calls they just said it is a scam and the call was from overseas.

Just received a phone call from Kingston Surrey County, Jamaica 876-413-3198. Told I won $2nd place in a sweepstake that I never entered. Was told that entry was automatic because I paid my bills on time. Also was asked what color Mercedes I want since this is the bonus. This is no doubt a complete scam, so when they call me back this afternoon, I will bust their bubble. Just sharing FYI.

    Miss Scammed
I was a bit shocked when I found this page and began reading post from the last few years. This scam has been going on for years and still continues. The person who figures out how to give us control over this problem will become very wealthy from selling their invention.

I had just received several calls from a private number telling me I had won a 2017 mercedes, that I need to go to Walmart to pick up a receipt. It is hugely irritating to me when I'm called "sweetie" from a stranger, and he called me that over and over many times. On his 9th call (the only other time I answered), he said it once again, and I hope I left his ears ringing in agony.

After I hung up on him the first time, he called back 2 more times but I ignored it knowing it was the same "private number" calling. He called again the next morning but I didn't answer because it was "private number" again. I guess he was determined to get through to me because 3 hours later he called again, only this time the caller ID said "unknown" number. I answered. I couldn't believe my ears as he was trying to assure me it wasn't a scam and at the end of that sentence, he said "sweetie".

First of all, if I was winning a new car, why wasn't it a 2018 Mercedes? Second, what official from any sweepstakes would call someone "sweetie", ever? Third, why the heck are we meeting at Walmart? Oh yeah, Walgreens was the alternative, and he knew it was closer to my home. I wasn't taken back by the fact that he knew that. Most of us who live in a city, live within a few miles of either, or both, stores.

After all this happened, I found myself fantasizing about how I could do things differently, should this happen again. I could pretend to go along with him and ask a police officer to escort me to Walmart, and bust the person I was to speak to, which is probably the "fall guy" to the actual scammer who's hidden away somewhere. I could have pretended to go to Walmart and let him think I was there, while still at home just to see what was to happen next. I could go along with everything he was telling me to do, but keep asking him to repeat because I didn't understand, and I mean to the point that he begins to get frustrating and tired of repeating. Say what? No understand!

I must be bored, right? Not really. I just wish there was a clever way to turn the tables or catch these jerks. I feel for those who fall for these scams. Seems like this issue has gotten worse over the years, which tells me it must be paying off for them.

Come on Tech heads! Please, come up with a good way to deal with this problem, especially targeting private or unknown numbers. It's a growing problem that needs to be addressed. Personally, I would prefer it if only the numbers I put on my contact list, were the only calls I can receive. What a lovely thought.

    Robert
So I just spent the last hour, yes hour.  ( I had some free time) with this company as "Robert".  They have called me for the past couple weeks looking for a Robert. I keep telling them Robert does not live here over and over. Tonight I i called John Millar back (  I blocked my number by using *67 before calling)  and rambled politley non aggessivly over and over. Left lota of messages. ( ramble talking about the winnings, ect.) To the point that I get a message that the call has been rejected. There is a Susan Davidson, who called me last week. I used her number to for John. To my surprise John was there. ( of course he hung on me) and yes I did call the number over and over until it to was rejecting calls.
I don't know if this will work but next you get a call from this company  if you have time like me. Block your number by dialING *67 ( the) - number  that called you,  and ask for John Millar, if a guy answers.  Susan Davidson if a women answers. And please let them know politely to call me  "Robert" back.  Robert is patheticly waiting for them to call back.  See how many times you can call befor the call is rejected.  PLEASE I DO NOT IMPLY USING ANY VULGARITY OR HARASSING MANNER.  Maybe they'll get tired of this hoax.  Maybe. But it's a try.
