I received an email from a Matt Williams of ACS Legal Group claiming I owe Advance Cash Services $529.00. I know this is bogus because I never got a loan with advance. It has threatened me with a lawsuit if not paid within 2 days. I do have pdls with other companies and am working with a debt solution company to pay them off. These scumbags need to be caught thrown in jail and the key thrown away. They prey on innocent people and need to be punished severly.

BRAVO, RITA!!! I am the same as you - I have had ENOUGH. Here is my reply to the email that they sent my husband. Please excuse my very strong language:

You sir are a [***] idiot. Not only have I NEVER taken out a payday loan, but do you realize how easy it is to google your information and find out that you are attempting to commit fraud?? Do you realize that operations like you are being busted and that scum like you are going to jail and paying restitution for the money that you are STEALING? How DARE you attempt to strike fear into people, in interest of your own sick-headed greed for the all almighty dollar. How DARE you attempt to rob from people who are honest, hard working people who may be struggling just to make ends meet. The only thing I am able to thank you for is that your feeble attempt to rob me came by email, instead of humiliating phone calls at my place of employment. I work 40+ hours a week to care for my family - I do not need cold hearted greedy and selfish thieves such as yourself inflicting your attempted CRIME on me. I have reported this email and all of your attached information to the Internet Crime Division, the FTC and my Attorney General. Enjoy your ill-gotten funds while they last because I guarantee that you will be paying it back very heavily, not only in dollars but in wasted life in jail. I have one question... how do you live with yourself? Can you look at yourself in the mirror and convince yourself that you are actually making an honest living by what you are doing? Can you sleep at night? Do you ever ONCE put yourself in the shoes of one of your victims? My guess is that you have not, you evil son of a [***].

I'm glad I'm not the only one this has happened to, I got a phone call last week and now an email...so I replied simply...

Please contact my attorney screwyou@noscamshere.com. Thanks. This is your second attempt to scam me, please make a record of it so you don't try a third time...or I will take legal action of my own against you.

I received relatively the same letter, except the amount was different as was the phone number.
This person picked the wrong email, as I AM a certified collection agent, and I know what is legal and what is not.
THIS IS NOT.  THIS IS A SCAM
So everyone just ignore this, as it is a fraud and a scam, and do report it to the Federal Trade Commission.

I am just hoping that someone who feels threatened by this does not send any payment of any type.

Stay alert people...these type of scams are everywhere.

I received the same email today and replied I couldn't pay the amount they asked.  Then I said I can pay a lower amount and went a little lower which they somehow accepted it.  But after reading this, I am not going to answer them anymore nor will send them anything.  I do have payday loans but I work with the company itself.

Well, an email came to me cause I was looking for a loan. So when I got it, it was $150. After I got the money, there was no email or calls telling me when to pay it back. So months later they calling threatening me about fraud check and all kinds of stuff sending me emails with a strange number. If I don't pay the amount, then I will be thrown in jail.....

        CONFUSED !!! replies to xxtessxx
I received an email on Wed. 31, 2013, saying I owed this company $663.00. It was the same message that the other people have received, 48 hrs to respond or I will be prosecuted. The phone number was 229-494-3300. When I called it the operator said I must have dialed it wrong and to try again, which I did 2 more times and each time it said you must have dialed the number wrong. I do have some loans out with other companies but I am dealing with a collection agency now. Do you know if they get information on the internet and try and make you think that you owe them? The email sounds so official. This is very scary!

I LOVE IT!  I had a message from "Robert Wood" of "something & Travis law firm" - yeah, right, his name was Robert Wood!  Could barely understand him!  Expept that they were going to "send a letter of garnishment to my employer payroll dept."  I know it doesn't work that way!  I left HIM a message and told him he had violated several federal regulations regarding fair debt collection and that I was reporting him to the FBI, the FTC, the Atty. general and anyone else I could think of!  AND I DID!!!

I received the same email today saying that I owed 406.99. I contacted CashNet (the business I apparently owe) where they took an incident report and urged me to contact my local police.

    good Morning,

I received the same email this morning... this is weird... stating ...

Your delinquent account with Advance Cash Services has been referred to my office for collection action. You are currently several payments behind on the above referenced account. The total outstanding amount on this account is $692.00.

I have been instructed to bring legal action against you as may be necessary, which may result in Judgement.

The file indicates that you have failed or refused to pay the above claim even though it appears just, owing, and correct.

You are hereby further advised that if payment is not received within 2 business days of the date of this letter, suit in small claims court may be commenced against you forthwith and without further notice for the amount indicated above, together with prejudgment interest. Instead of small claims court, this matter may be referred to our attorney for suit in municipal court.

As I am sure you are aware, if this matter goes to suit, all court costs, process server's fees, sheriff's fees, attorney fees where permitted, and other post judgment costs will be added to the amount that you already owe.

You can avoid the unnecessary inconvenience and added expenses of a lawsuit by making immediate payment to us. For any queries feel free to call us on 1-302.387.0023

    Sincerely,

    Matt Williams,

    Collections Manager
