Hello, I had a water softner rep. come to my home and sell me a water softner with a 3 month trial, if I was not satisfied they would take the unit back and I would owe nothing. The cost of the unit was $ 2,900.00 I told them I would pay it in full at the end of the 3 months if it really made my clothes softer, use less laundry soap, shampoo etc. and my dishes and silverware would not have any more spots, not to mention I would get a free year's supply of cleaning and soap products.

After a few weeks I noticed the same spots, didn't use any less soap etc. and my family hated the "slimy" feeling we had when we took showers. I called them and requested for the unit to be removed as I never rec'd the free products, and it did not perform as I was told.

I did pay them $900.00 in full for the faucet and the purifier under my sink. I never rec'd phone calls back, I wrote them letters to remove it and I was not going to pay for it. A man from their company came out and added more salt to the unit (even though they said it would last 4 months, this was only a month later) and when I came home from work I found the hose running all over my yard!! I lost thousands of gallons of water and have the bill to prove it. I called them explaining why he came out and what happened with the hose, again they never called me back.

I continued sending letters, I had an Attorney write them as well as the better business beauro and they continue to have a collection company call me as they placed me in a finance company to pay for the unit at a high interest rate without my knowledge!! Now it went on my credit report saying I owe them over $ 3,400.00!!

The unit is still sitting there, we never used it as it was defective since the water hose just lays there and when it runs it drains the water out from my house since it is hooked into the main water valve not to mention even if it didn't drain the water it still did not do what he said it would do. I showed them in good faith by sending them the $900.00 since the water from the sink filter they installed actually did make a difference by paying for that.

This company is really a scam and I still am trying to get this removed
from my credit report as well as all the collection calls I receive daily, I just want them to take this unit back and be done with it. This was installed in May or June of 2006.

My Experience with Kinetico distributor Blue Fountain Water:

I wrote here a while back in the year 2010 when I had a visit from owner Randy from BFW.  Of all the reps that visited from Rainsoft, Culligan and Kinetico, Randy seemed the most genuine.  The Rainsoft rep first quoted me $7900. Ignorant, I thought ok, since it is a whole house softener, it was reasonable.  Called back to cancel before installation and he seemed very upset, as if I made a mistake.  Eventually, he offered me the unit for 3k, but it was too little too late, and still too much for just a softener.

Culligan was too expensive as well, so I didn't even bother.

When Randy came over, he gave me different options, from the lowest model, to the highest.  At first, my wife and I wanted to go with the lowest model for $1800.  We were set on it because its features met our needs.  He actually offered the next level model for the same price.  Surprised, we took the offer.

Installation had a few issues with permits and such, but every call I made, Randy answered or called me back and he got the whole permit thing situated without me having to do anything.  A year after owning our softener system, we decided to get a dechlorinator from Randy.  Again, he was very kind and offered us different solutions and it was installed shortly after.  We had an issue where to top looked as if it cracked.  I called, and within the weekend, he had someone come out to replace the dechlorinator for us.

Today, I didn't notice before but it seems like my sprinklers affect the salt usage.  My guess is that the sprinklers run the water gauge even though soft water isn't being fed into them.  I called and spoke with him again.  He'll have someone come out and take a look.  If it needed replacement, he would do so without charge.

Although I've had a couple of minor issues with the system, overall it has worked well within my expectations and the service I receive from Randy and the folks at Blue Fountain Water is exceptional.  He is one of the most passionate persons I have ever met.

Ignorance is a big leverage in marketing. The less you know the more you go for higher price. My $400 GE softner works like a champion. It uses one bag of salt every 7 months and supplies soft water 24/7/365 for 3years and 24/7/366 once every four years. It may use less electricity than the cordless phone and answering machine. It is made in USA and I installed it as DIY. It will be a lot cheaper and less hassle replacing with new unit when it goes bad. Why is "no salt and no electricity" so big deal? Keep it simple S.

in most cases like everything in life you get what you pay for or you get to pay more later for what you did not pay for earlier. quality lingers long after price is forgotten.
