We attended their presentation and after some calculation decided to pay for the membership which was $4990. We wanted to update our kitchen and bathroom cabinets, as well as bedroom furniture. We put down about $1000, and the rest was financed through their lender Beta Finance.
A month later we started planning our purchases and realized we were about to pay more by buying through them than we would otherwise. What the don't tell you on their presentation is that while you save about 10% on furniture they add 8 % handling charge in addition to 7% tax, and that doesn't include shipping.
I am now trying to get our membership money back. Do not become a member! Buy from other stores.

I can no longer monitor p. 1--------Promise to try to help!
I am so glad you're still here helping so many people. It's good to hear success stories! I know you're making a difference and am so glad for this website where we are not selectively "edited" or "deleted" We just need to keep fighting the good fight with the certainty that justice will prevail.
No, my wife & I have not received a refund. We are out almost $6000. We are monitoring the class action lawsuits and have sent correspondence to the Los Angeles County District Attorney & California State Attorney General. They respond to a large number of complaints and I believe that once people find out DirectBuy is a scam, they tend to feel embarrassed and just "take the financial hit" This is sad because we won't be able to move forward without a good number of people complaining. My wife & I did initially fight about all of this but in the end found that it just wasn't worth it. Like I told Trudy, I feel that justice will prevail in the end and good guys (people) like us will win and DirectBuy will get their get their pants sued off. I agree that this website is a good place to vent and my utmost intention is to warn people to stay away from DirectBuy in the first place so they won't have to go through what we did. Hopefully, all of our efforts will pay off in keeping people away from that scam. I am glad you're still monitoring this site. Even though it will probably take years and a lot of patience, I believe we'll get our money back + interest! Keep up the good fight!

I have just found your site here. I thank you for the service you are providing to all the folks who have been scammed by DirectBuy. My wife and I attended a presentation on Saturday September 4th 2010 in Virginia. We fell for their lies... they also did a credit check even though they said they would not. We went to DirectBuy of Hampton Roads, they are about an hour and a half away from where we live. We had planned to shop on line. We finally got our "membership" data which allowed my wife to log on to the web site. She could tell in a matter of minutes that it was a bunch of crap. I sent them a certified letter on Monday September 13th that I am cancelling my contract. I have also sent faxes and left messages... I have already opened a dispute with Visa, but the bank says I have to give the vendor 30 days to reply. I can already tell that this is a waste of time. The only "reply" that I have received is that my account had been transferred to beta finance. It was by googleing beta finance that I found your site.
Since I paid by Credit card I think we might be able to get those original funds returned... do you think so? I am willing to take these crooks to small claims court also. I will do the same to beta finance if I have to.
Do you think I should keep sending letters mysef?
Thanks for your help
I am hoping I can get my original deposit back since it was paid for on a credit card
did you send registered mail? when?
IF NOT, prepare a reg. letter.....
you have to stay with the site after asking for help
cuz tons of responses to your letters, have been abandoned
if they don't want evidence out there, they think no one will figure out to make a cophy of it?
sounds like a delay ( past the deadline) tactic to me.
