We attended their presentation and after some calculation decided to pay for the membership which was $4990. We wanted to update our kitchen and bathroom cabinets, as well as bedroom furniture. We put down about $1000, and the rest was financed through their lender Beta Finance.

A month later we started planning our purchases and realized we were about to pay more by buying through them than we would otherwise. What the don't tell you on their presentation is that while you save about 10% on furniture they add 8 % handling charge in addition to 7% tax, and that doesn't include shipping.

I am now trying to get our membership money back. Do not become a member! Buy from other stores.

My husband and I joined a year ago.  Paid our dues in full.  Was promised that if we didn't save money or use it they would reimburse our membership.  Now all of a sudden no one remembers that part of it.  Gave us a food gift card for places we didn't have in our area.  They did send us the cash for that.  We could never find anything to buy that would be cheaper than what we could get at local stores!  EVER.  Do not join. You are better off at Lowe's, Home Depot, or Sutherlands.  Just saying... I did receive something about a law suit.  I hope we can recoup some of our loss.

Just got to say check your furniture before you pick it up. Some merchandise does come in damaged and they will call a repair tech to come fix it. There were some instances where I had to lie to members about furniture not being here, in when in fact a tech was repairing the damaged goods. Or I was told to tell members their merchandise was damaged and that Directbuy ordered a replacement. again a repair tech was fixing the damage. Directbuy is full of broken promises and they do discriminate against minorities. Trust me I dealt with a lot of unhappy members saying they regret siging up.

I AGREE WITH  EVERYONE ABOVE THAT SAYS DB IS A SCAM.  NOT JUST A SCAM BUT THE WORST KIND. We bought into their presentation over 13 yrs ago. Had just built a new home, were looking at remodeling old one dwn the road to sell. Thought it was a good opportunity to have high quality things at reasonable prices. They don't tell you how exorbitant their shipping and handling is, even worse --they don't deliver and not keep things till all are there so you can pick up in 1trip ( useful if you live 15 miles from the warehouse). Half the stuff you can't order on line--have to physically go to warehouse to order .. Even then they don't tell you right away if something is not available any more.. After ordering a dinning table set and a matching set of bar stools, we learnt that stools weren't available any more BUT IT WAS too late to cancel the dinning set order ! . Eventually , the dinning set that was supposed to be a high end quality turned out to be such poor quality, chipped gass top . . We tried to cancel membership for 3 yrs.. Needless to say. Never bought anything from DB again. I wish there was a  class action suit against them--this ended up being one $ 9000 dinning table set that we donated to Youth ranch after 2 !

Even though there are class action lawsuits - they do not provide reimbursement for membership fees.

Although our franchise owner promised he'd give us 10 yrs at DB to recoup our monies, alas he does not own the DB in Tampa FL anymore where we stupidly joined..  (Saw his new job-seeking on internet)

MAJOR REGRETS:  $5,590 down the tubes... I believe our previous owner now works for Verizon...

    Didn't buy the sell
My wife and I  went to one of these presentations.  They show you the low dollar stuff you buy on TV for an outrageously low price.  Yeah, like i need to spend 4K to save 130, what sense does that make. We looked at their ads for a 70 inch Sharp 3D set, one side had to have been MSRP at $3495 their price $2348.   Costco sells them for less.  Our sales agent quoted his real life purchasing of buying 4 tires, no description of type or manufacture and paying $400, At the same time I could get a set of Ecopia Bridgestones  for $506 or a set of Michellens for $587.   Yep at that point I figured keeping my $4000 was worth more to me than spending it with them.  I did not have a lot of major purchases to make in the coming years so the appeal to me was just not there.   When you stick a piece of paper in front of me stating IF I buy today I pay $3990  but if I wait till tomorrow or up to 30 days later I pay $5990, there is something wrong there.  If your club is worth their weight in savings it should not matter when I join, nor should there be such a high entry level price for joining,  Totally crazy what they are asking.    Oh the bright part in all of this, I did get a tablet, brand new and in the box so at least that was not a bummer.

you'd be better off getting some friends and     beating the crap out of the  manager  when he leaves  the warehouse.  no money, but lots of satisfaction,  and sends a message that some people won't put up with their crapola

I own the DB in Columbia sc
I am getting very wealthy thanks to the stupid people here who believe anything you tell them after you let them see you carrying a bible around.
Then I make a point of asking them where they go to church and have memorized enough local pastors names that I can claim to be a fellow brother in Christ with them. Works so well it is scary. I know eventually this gravy train will end but man what a pile of dough I am accumulating from these southern Baptist, Methodists, Lutheran  buffoons.

file a complaint with Indiana better business bureau direct buy is an Indiana company.

also with your states consumer affairs department

also contact your state attorney general

what state are you in?   call your credit card company and tell them you have been defrauded by direct buy and will not make any more payments.

I too filed reported them to Better business Bureau

Also sent complaint to the Attorney General

Tried everything to get the membership fee back but didn't succeed..

I suggest Small Claims Court.  the sooner the better.

How is it possible that this many people actually sent this company real money from your actual bank accounts or credit cards.  If you send them money, you honestly deserve to get ripped off.

Since my husband and I were split from each other for three years, I never thought anything would work. I tried to be positive about this spell because I knew it was real and because of that there would be no negative things that happened, so what did I have to lose? Well actually I had everything to GAIN! My husband has been home now for over a week and he is home for good! The kids are so happy and we are having a renewal of our vows on our anniversary in September. I cannot thank you and your gods enough for helping him to find his way back to us. You are the real angel here Dr. Lee! He is ready to help anyone that comes for help. Contact him via: Ancientfathersandmothers@gmail.com
