I got a call on my mobile and on my land line with the same automated message so like most people, i hung up and phoned my bank. They told me it was genuine and understood my concern why i wouldn't answer to a call like this.
I cant understand how some people on here say its not genuine so im guessing they are only on here to confuss people and take the piss.
Someone tried to take £2056 out of my account but the bank refused to action this request, i have just canceled my card and have a new one on the way.

This is really good advice. If my 'bank' phones me I always say I'll ring back then ring one of their published numbers and sort things out. Sometimes a bit expensive with all the waiting and checks but worth it.

I was concerned when i recieved aan automated call on my mobile and work phone from 08456031755 you here so abiout so many scams. so I phoned LLOYDSTB on a different number I found on their website. IT WAS A GENUINE NUMBER ! LLoyds tsb had tried to contact me as they have stopped a suspicious debit card transaction attempt of £223 from ASDA online at 5.30 am this morning! They informed me that my card details had been comprimised they cancelled my card and will issue a new one. I am very impressed by LLoyds ! if in doubt do what I did phone the normal customer services number to find out DO NOT IGNORE IT! x

I had a missed call and a message from these people on my phone - usual computer generated message. It was also followed up by a text message as well.
The problem is I don't have a Lloyds account, not had one for 5 yrs, and the name on the message was not my name!
Sounds like an attempted fraud to me.

Number is genuine. Ignore it at your peril. I was suspicious and hung up pretty sharpish, but then immediately called the banks personal account number on my landline, but not before typing the number into Google and reading a bunch of clowns on this thread telling me it was a scam and to ignore it. As I said, I called the personal account number and the woman I spoke to confirmed it was a genuine number and transferred me to the correct department. They asked if I could confirm several attempted payments to different mobile networks and online shopping sites. I couldn't. She canceled my card immediately and is sending another. If I hadn't canceled my card I would have been liable for the payments.
If you're suspicious of a number or phone call, hang up and call back on a number you know to be genuine and ask them. Makes a hell of a lot more sense than taking the word of strangers online.

It's not listed on that page?
I am so confused, I'm going into my bank personally to find out.

This is real, I just went into my bank and the lady in there called the number with me and confirmed it was real. She said it was most likely a spot check due to high usage of my card, or I think it was because I bought something from a small overseas company.
All they do is ask you to input the number that THEY ORIGINALLY CALLED YOU ON, so you are not giving them any new information there. Then they ask which of a selection of dates is your correct date of birth, so there's no new information there either. Then you just listen to the last few transactions on your card and confirm whether or not you made them all. Simmples.
Still, if I get another call from a number that I cannot verify, I will just go into my bank again.

Just had a similar problem from a different angle. Shopping being delivered, driver informs me that the debit card I used had been declined, looked online to see wages are in and no reason why the card was declined. I quickly transferred the money to another account and tried that, Declined again! All this in front of the driver, grandson and daughters boyfriend, how humiliated did I feel? On phoning Lloyds I found out it was because it flagged up on their fraud watch! Pleased they have fraud watch but shopping being delivered to a house and on a monthly basis, Why. Now unable to get anywhere with a complaint.

Had a random call saying there had been an attempted withdrawal from the US, sounded dodgy so i phoned Lloyds and it turned out to be true.
A good service but they need to make the initial call sound a little less like fraud itself!

Had an automated call this evening to say suspected fraudulent activity and wanted dob verified before they could verify questionable transactions. No way was I going to do that so I called the 0845 number given but they would not verify to me who they were.........should I just accept they are who they say they are? I think not! Ended up calling Lloyds direct who confirmed all was genuine and yes fraud had occured.
Grateful this was flagged but why oh why use an automated system that wants me to confirm my personal data.........flies in the face of common sense.

So much confusion! I've also received this call today & spoke to the bank. They say it is a genuine credit card fraud number used by lloyds TSB.

Was contacted by this automated number, ignored the request to press buttons, which means they put you through to a human. Told him i didn't know who he was and i was certainly not giving any details to him.
He said fine, phone the number on the back of your lloyds tsb card, tell them whats happened and they will put you back through to us.
Did that and ended up back with them.
The number is genuine, but i would always recommend phoning your bank directly if they want to talk to you, they will soon put you through to the correct department

The message service sounds very strange, but on calling LloydsTSB back on the normal customer service number I was transferred to fraud and this had been a standard fraud check on the card.

Got called at home by this number today, but I wasn't in. Coincidentally (or not) the call was at exactly the same time I was trying to withdraw some cash over the counter at my local branch! Over half an hour and three attempts later, presumably after contacting the fraud department, the branch were able to process my withdrawal request. They said it was probably just a spot check. I am glad in a way that they now do these checks, as I've suffered fraudulent activity on my account before, but I wasn't entirely impressed at standing around in the bank for half an hour trying withdraw my own money! It was lucky that I actually had some photo id on me or else I could have left empty handed!

Yes, it is genuine. Checking when they spot what they think is odd account activity. In fact, they were being a bit TOO careful, but better that than allowing bad stuff to happen.
I'm quite impressed, actually.

I received a call today after making an online payment using Western Union(for the first time). As this payment was about £300, Lloyds put a block on my account suspecting Fraud and asked me to call them back. I just did and can confirm this number is real and it is the Fraud department. Thank you Lloyds for being so secure with my account! Do not ignore this call.
