Travel Guard insurance was included with a travel package I purchased. My flight was delayed causing me to miss a foreign connection until the next day. I filed for compensation with Travel Guard on return from my trip.

Three months later I got a call saying my claim was invalid because the airline was at fault. They said that I could write a letter and include receipts and I may still have a claim. I already had to get documentation from several places including the airline and didn't feel that I needed to jump through more hoops. I think that this is their plan to wear you down and give up. I will never do business with this company again.

Horrible customer service!  They were rude and didnt return calls.  It took 2 months to get a "denial" letter, and when a live person was reached, they were condescending and degrading.  Horrible company to do business with

Can anyone give me the name of a good insurer ??
    I am in Australia.
I am trying to buy insurance for a 73 year old relative who is coming to Australia next year for a month.
Her Blue Cross has not come to the party. It wants all monies paid in advance if hospitalised.
I want to mainly cover medical up to $100,000 as our hospitals are as expensive as yours.
She is a healthy person .
It would appear all these cancellations policies are a sham

i purcased travel insurance through a scheme barclays do , when i rang travel guard telling them my departure was delayed due to an emergency door being broken they said there was nothing they could do as flight was only delayed for 7hours and not 12 hours so they will not pay out.
I then went through barclays and they asked me if i wanted to complain I said yes, the advisor went through to travel guard on my behalf to be told they don't have a complaints department since then barclays has now given me the adddress for travel guard complaints.
I am now going to ask barclays to re-look at the travel insurance they recommend as feel I have been ripped off.

I purchased this sham of an insurance policy. The only thing they would cover is trip cancellation due to the carrier. Sure enough that is what happened and TravelGuard breached the agreement. They did not pay out or even return the cost of the insurance. They kept speaking in circles and they do not get back to you until 3 months later even after you provide them with all the documentation. It was frustrating because the idiots that work for this company speak out their [***]. I hope the [***] who choose to work for such a sham company at least get paid well for all the people they steal money from. It's a shame the government lets a company like this operate.

I bought my policy as part of a Package from the Northern Bank( Owned by the Bank of Denmark). My experience with Travel Guard has been extremely distressing.

I called them from France in July when i heard the tragic news of the death of my sister in law. I asked them if I would be covered  for me and my family to travel home to Northern Ireland to support the family with the funeral arrangements. The representative informed that we would be covered and to make arrangements to travel and they would send me a claim form. I double checked that I would be covered for the death of a sister in law.
I completed the forms and submitted the documentation - they insisted on a death certificate and would not accept a Coroners Cert ( they even stated that they would have to check for pre existing medical conditions!) Communication was appalling. I supplied the Death Certificate when it was available in Sep. At this point Travel Guard stated I was not covered because it was related to the death of my sister in law and it was not covered by the policy. They sent me a cheque for £20 (Why!) as a final settlement. I have not cashed the cheque!

I made a formal complaint to Travel Guard and the Northern Bank who sell the Policy as part of the Banks Prestige Service( £18 per month).

I will now be taking this to the Insurance Ombudsman Office and any other legal or publicity service which will review these unfit insurance policies.

I will be changing my Insurance and banking arrangements for the future.

TravelEx/Nationwide - It is considered primary health ins. - Alert: Patient will have to get treatment started and med report plus invoice need to be send to Ins. - They will approve a Gurantee of payment and then pay hospital as they go along up to max coverage. - Choose the right plan. Get policy within 14 days of trip deposit to have pre-existing conditions waived.

I too had a horrible experience with Travel Scene/Travel Guard. What was suppose to be a trip of a lifetime turned into a nightmare. Due to computer trouble on my USAIR flight I was not able to make my connection in LA to a tropical paradise. The next schedule flight out of Los Angles was three days later. This was not fesible for my vacation time. After numerous email and unreturned phone calls, three weeks later I received a response . Having provided all of the necessary documenations and receipts, I was denied any all of my monies..

I brought Travel Guard insurance when purchasing a Spirit Airline ticket. I had to cancel on recommendation from my Doctor due to stomach cancer which was detected on 1-24-11. Date of insurance coverage was 1-21-11 and my claim for travel costs were denied because of a pre-existing condition. My condition was found after the date I brought the insurance, so the 60 days prior should not be an issuse. Many letters and fax's were exchanged with Travel Guard and they keep denying my claim. But, I'll wear them down with replies.

I certainly would not recommend this travel company to anyone.

We purchased travel insurance for our trip to the US.While there my wife was hospitalized with a seizure. The insurance company (Selectcare Worldwide)refused to pay for her hospital stay because they say that she neglected to tell them that she was taking 2 high blood pressure pills. After consulting with her own doctor she was told that her seizure had absolutely nothing to do with high blood pressure.
Is there any way we can get them to pay for her claim?Thank you for yor help.
