There are several internet websites which I believe are scamming the public. Those sites are known as TVaddicts.tv, ultimatedvdshop, tvbox, dvd avenue, to name a few. All these are affiliated and called "sister" sites.

I was going to order a dvd set and found large price discrepancies among all these sites for the same item! I tried to call the phone number posted on each of these sites (which by the way is the same number for all of them), and was met with an answering machine no one every picked up, or I was cut off, or I left messages and have sent emails receiving no response at all.

Why would I ever trust these sites enough to order anything from them when they don't even have someone answering their phones? And on top of that their live "customer service" chat person can't even help. I suspect they are in another country since their written English skills seem to be lacking. I don't want some unsuspecting consumer to get burned using these websites.

I ordered from one of the sites listed (mytvshowdvds.com) because I actually saw an ad for them on another website (I think it was either myspace or something like that, I don't actually go onto many websites so) and thought I'd check it out. I ended up buying the complete X-Men:TAS from the 90's. Needless to say I was a little disappointed when I got it and it turns out it was a TV rip that was pirated. I thankfully didn't have any extra charges go to my card though so I guess I got out lucky and I wouldn't buy from them again but all the booted dvds they sent me did work so I was able to watch the whole series it was just terrible quality. It's my own fault though for not researching them and stuff.

AMEN. THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME THIS. You have saved hundreds of people from getting scammed by a bunch of senseless bozos who do not have a sense of dignity or making real, decent money. They have to lie to people in order to sell something. They do not have the real talents of a salesperson and their "business" is laughable.

Thank you all for the warnings.  I was going to purchase Owen Marshall Councelor at law but thought better of it.  I'm sure all the complaints saved me a lot of trouble not to mention money.

Unfortunately I didn't find all this until after I bought.Wish I had done some research first because I got screwed too. I received  the NYPD Blue complete series several weeks after I ordered it & was disappointed with the crummy quality pirated from TV dvds. After contacting the company (dvdavenue.tv) I was offered two options a refund of the shipping or a complete refund with a postage paid return envelope.I chose the second option & was told it would be 6-12 business days.Of course after 3 weeks nothing so I e mailed them again & was told they were having a problem with their refund "gateway" & it would be another 5-7 days before my refund was processed. At this point I was skeptical that anything was going to happen so I filed a dispute with the credit card company. The next day I get a call from the credit card stating that there appeared to be fraudulent activity on my card which I promptly canceled.DO NOT by any means do business with this/these companies you will be sorry.

    Lesson learned
I, too, was ripped off.  It was close to Christmas, husband left the website up for a series he'd like.  I ordered it without thinking. I thought I was dealing with a legitimate company in the US.  As soon as I saw where the dvds were coming from - China - I immediately emailed and asked for my money back.  Here's how they get away with it: they say when the product arrives it will have a return post envelope. Once it arrives to them they will process the refund. Well, there isn't a return envelope and there is no return address.  I called my credit card bank and asked for a reverse payment.  Problem is they have delivered the goods - ie, they have fulfilled their obligation.  They then string you along until the 30-day satisfaction guarantee expires.  Even two conference calls with "Michael" and the bank was futile.  I was not given an address to return the goods, even when specifically asked by the bank - a key problem because you can't ask for a refund and keep the goods - they just keep saying no problem, keep the dvds.  I count myself lucky the bank refunded half my loss as a good will gesture.  I'll never get caught again.

I am so glad I routinely google any new company for complaints, boy did it pay off this time.  Add http://www.tvboxsetsdvd.com/ as a suspect site to your list, I checked it on the McAfee site advisor as one person recommended and it came up as Russian and probably a scam site,  http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/#.  After reading all these experiences I will forget saving a few dollars and buy from one of the big names where I am sure of the product/security of my purchase/ability to return. Thanks for all the advice!
