I had a moneygram account for 10 years. I used a shared account (which I have with my sister, who knew???), and my account was closed. No communication from MG, no questions,, no email, no phone call, nothing, they just closed my account. I thought, OK, I will work with them to resolve this.
So, I called the 800 number provided, to find out that no one knew anything. Then I sent them this email, ‘MESSAGE:
My account is locked. I do not know why my account is locked, no-one can tell me. I have emailed, called, requested information and have not received a reply. I would like to have any issues with my account addressed. After today I will start visiting the complaint boards, perhaps I can learn or add some information to them.’
I then received an email from mg with another number to call, I thought, OK, I will work with them to resolve this. I have been on the phone for the past 2 hours talking with people. After hours,  I was told ‘Create a new account’. But now, I cannot create a new account. So, another call and I was told, ‘Well, I can tell you where a mg location is’. NOPE, not going to happen. I actually work; I WILL NOT take off work to go to mg to send money to family members in need. So my 10 year account?? Locked??
My Decision?, I have now opened an account with Western Union and have NEVER had a problem with them. They have become my HEROES!!!
So now?, I am planning to post this on every complaint board which is available on line. I also plan to send this email to WalMart and every other company I can find which uses mg, and at the same time push the use of Western Union.
Can you tell my patience is gone??

    Tried to send money but when I clicked on send money it said account is locked for security reasons.  Contacted customer service,  they said they didn't know why and couldn't tell me.  They also said there was to way to contact the security system to resolve problem.  Told me to go to the nearest location.  Problem with that?  It costs me 4 times as much.  Maybe that's exactly their reason for it..

      Sorry. I meant there was NO way to contact security services. .. also,  cannot even sign in to my account anymore..

    They locked my account too but no one knows why nor can they direct me to where ever I need to go to get it fixed

    This just happened to me.  Locked account for no reason and no means to rectify.  What a way to treat good customers?!

    Same here... I can go to a store and send money and I get the email confirmations it’s send and picked up, but the App is locked... No explanation and no way to fix it. What bad service... unfortunately there aren’t any western unions accessible in the country I want to send money to..

    MoneyGram is poor company that does not deserve the business!!!

    The same as me they are block me for no reason .This company start scamming people personal.
    Do not trust the money gram anymore please share they does not deserve the business!!!!!!!

    Yep I had my account locked too something is wrong with these idiots I use this account to send my elderly mother money so she can buy groceries and stuff just crazy I called and they said we don't feel comfortable with you having a online account I am like what funny part is I have never sent over 300.00 dollars why would I even be considered a red flag??? Guess I will send a check in the mail for now on and save the fees. I plan on filing a complaint with the BBB as soon as possible I do not like being made to feel like I did something wrong or criminal they will loose a ton of business like this.

    It's a shame on Money Gram, they block your account without no reason. If account is lock for any reason, why don't they ask the individaul come, verify with them, with their bank, and then re-open their account. What a shame that they can even manage online services successfully

    I can relate to everyone on here. Moneygram locked my account because I entered my password wrong. It's been blocked for about 7 years. I have been sending money through their agents. Today I sent money through the agent and I received an email with my reference number. So I thought great now I can use online again. I set up my account and everything seemed great because I could see all my transactions. Few hours later when I tried to log back in I was told to contact customer services because my account has been blocked for security reasons. I have been on the phone with different people telling me that they can't tell me anything else. This is it I'm done with moneygram

    Happened to me too
    Been using MG for over 10 years now. Got locked out because I tried to send funds to someone to go to school and they said the person reached their limit (Not true). She's banned from collecting money and my account is permanently locked. No one in C.S. knows anything.  This is ridiculous.

    I want to send some money to my fiancee in Russia and the last time I tried to send money it was declined. Can I send money to her now?? I can assure you there is no security issue here.

    so sad. my account got locked today because i cant remember my password. i called the 1-800 number. i gave them all my information but they expect me to know all my family members information when we dont even live together lol. i asked if i can open new account and they be like NOPE. so i ask if i can send them my information like ID and other stuff to get my account unlock but they said there no way to unlock my accnt. so i ask if they even know how to unlock mg accnt? they said NO. i lol and hung up.  lol 1 failed attempted and u can never get ur acct back. why sch company even exist lol

    Recently I transfer my information over to a new phone and made a transaction,I was denied and my account was closed by the MoneyGram security department.I was with the company for yrs.They will have their pay day coming.Not how u threat ur loyal customer.Thank God I had WesternUnion.

    I just set up an account, and while sending the money transfer I received a message saying my transaction was declined for security reasons... When I called, to an offshore call center, I was told that for security reasons my account was locked and can never use MG online services again...

    I experienced the same thing early this year. For no apparent reason(s) they blocked my account.  I called, and some guy in India responded that they have the right to close my account. He even warned that I could not use their service in Walmart and any other locations of theirs. I have switched to Western Union, and I couldn't be happier. However, the only thing I do not like about Western Union is having to go to their location to send money. You cannot send money at the comfort of your home. However, generally, I am happy with Western Union. To hell with Moneygram.

    MoneyGram??????   Has just got my online account locked for using wrong password. I spoke to some guy called Henry ( 12-09-18)-Time 10:35pm and he could help because he was not patient. Switching to World Remit or Western Union.
