The company PeakLife offers a fourteen day trial offer for a natural sleep aid product called Somnapure. They pretend to need your credit card only for postage of the free product. Little do you know that they are putting you on a subscription and will be charging you $74.98 a month for the product that they keep sending you. What's even more disturbing is that they seem to be in alliance with GNC, which is a major Vitamin and health products company. Be wary of these guys. DO NOT get taken by their free trial offers. They are deceitful and highly mercenary. I had to close my credit card account in order to get off their subscription.

    The Attorney
After I just accepted Peak Life's "free trial" offer and foolishly provided my credit card number for the requested $2.99 "shipping and handling" charge, I received a confirmation email.  In very fine print I saw they intended to continued monthly shipments and charge my account unless I cancelled the order (the made up, not mine).  Immediately, recognizing a scam, within one hour and not the 18 days the allowed, I repeatedly called the number they provided (1-877-869-3304) only to get lengthy recorded messages touting their Somnapure and other products.  No live person ever answered the call. It seemed this was purposely done to discourage calls to be completed.  Frustrated, I called and notified my credit card not to make any payments to Peak Life, or any other name they may have tried to put the charge through to mask their ownership.  That completed, the following day I again called the same phone number and let it ring and let the message play, and finally an operator answered.  I cancelled my order, and requested an email confirmation for my files, which they already had from my order and I was told would be sent.

The reason for this message is after further online research and finding so many complaints going back a couple of years, I was amazed that this fraudulent marketing operation was allowed to continue for so long.  Rest assured the text they employ in their online ads are carefully drafted to avoid many legal issues, including even future monthly shipments of product since they try to shift the burden on the customer to stop the orders and their payments.  Many persons have neither the time nor ability to first, recognize the scam, and secondly, to timely and effectively cancel the orders.  Of course, in the interim, one wonders how many payments they have collected without refunding them to customers who just give up the effort to get reimbursement.  For these reasons I felt the need to submit this message.

While I pass no judgment on the effectiveness of the Somnapure product itself, the market method is at least highly suspicious, and quite likely fraudulent in nature judgment from all the web site complaints.  So I strongly urge the following to anyone who has been duped by Peak Life's online advertising.

While still trying to get your refunds, and without waiting to see if you get your refund, write complaining letters to your local Better Business Bureaus, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, or any other consumer agency you are familiar with.  However, since Peak Life is a Massachusetts business you should definitely specifically send a letter to the following:  Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General, Consumer Complaint Division, 100 Cambridge Street, Boston, MA 02114.

If you feel the need to contact the company directly or to copy them with any complaint letter to an agency, you can write to the following:
Daniel Wallace or James Siestra, c/o Peak Life LLC, 24 School Street, Suite #301, Boston, MA 02108, and/or another of their addresses, 700 Technology Square, Suite #202, Cambridge, MA 02139.

Good luck to all aggrieved persons, but if you want to get some action, be sure to write.

Iwas unaware that a 14 day risk free trail would end up costing me $39.99.  This was my surprise as they shipped me a month's supply I never ordered.  After much hassle I did receive $29.99  of the money, but no refund on shipping cost.  I must say be cautious of this company.  From what "ve read they sound a bit scary to say the least.

would suggest that a person take a drink of water in place of somnapure ,will do just as much good and as for being able to cancel any future shipments,,,,forget it ,their 800 is a scam  I spent 30 minutes on the phone trying to get thru and received message that due to high no. of calls you may have to wait 5 minutes for representative.  so after much confusion I decided to cancel my card and start over , but heed the advice of someone that got took in,  don't waste your time and money on this company , just flush it down the comode, it'll do just as much good.

No need to order this stuff through Peak Life and pay an outrageous price.  CVS drugstore sells it for $14.99 for a 30-tablet bottle.

Don't really know if this is true But I did notice the select age only goes to 65. Could this possibly be so they can't be charged
with any crimes against the elderly?  ( People over the age of 65 )

i would like to cancel my order.  The sale was very deceptive.  I read the offer carefully.  Still not clear there was no FREE sample.  I will Cancel and pursue a claim under the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act for triple damages and attorney fees if I am charged more before the 14 day trial period.

I was also taken by the scam of needing the credit card for only shipping. I could not get an answer or email address from company. I filed a credit dispute with my credit card company and had them block all future billings to it. If they want to call me to talk about future billings it would NOT be in their best interest.

Same story here.  I gave PeakLife my bank card info for the $2.99 sample and today noticed they charged me $34.98.  I did NOT intend to keep on ordering this product.  If I want to use it, I will buy it at WalMart.  I am on hold with PeakLife as I am posting this comment.  Wish me luck.

I got through to an operator at Peak Life in about 15 minutes. I expressed my pique at the charge made to my bank card and told them to cancel my account.  The person was pleasant enough; said she cancelled my account and offered me 2 options for refund.  1) return product when I receive it and get a full refund or 2) get a 60% refund immediately (on card) and keep the product when it arrives.  I chose the second option because it's easier and I will be getting the Somnapure for approximately $16.  We shall see if they keep their word.

I was scammed too! Thought I was only paying $2.99 for a SAMPLE, but then now I was just hit with a $34.98 charge! I am going to dispute this transaction with my bank and I just made a complaint online with the FTC, at WWW.FTC.GOV.  If enough people complain about this company, they will have to do something about their deceptive business practices.

I am yet another victim of Peak Life Somnapure. I was told by my doctor not to continue use of this product as I already have 15 medications to take per day. I called Peak Life to cancel my trial membership but according to them, a new shipment went out today & they will not do a refund even though I have not received the product yet. I'm sorry but why should I have to pay when I don't have the product & my doctor has advised me NOT to take it??? This just doesn't seem fair at all. My bank has advised me to cancel my card & get a new card number to avoid any additional charges. A lot of trouble for a company who  tells you how much they care about your health  ""

I, also was duped by Peaklife into giving them my debit card # to pay $0.99 postage for free sample of Somnapure. Shame on  me.
I noticed a 34.98 descrepency in my checking account, but didn't get to the bank to inquire about this before I received
my 1st month 30 day subscription in mail. I called their number Friday, Aug 7 & talked to the sales rep who told me she would
cancel my subscription, but could only refund $17.99. I contacted the Better Business Bureau that Friday afternoon & filed a
complaint against Peak Life. As these charlatons are still in business after 4 years, I doubt I will get any remedy from the BBB.
This sleepaid doesn't even work! If a company signed me up for 60 valium a month for $34.98, I would happily pay for that.

I place an order for a free sample of  Somnapure with a $2.99 shipping and handling.  On 8/4/2015 they withdrew $1.70 from my account on the same day another withdrawal of $1.29. On 8/19/2015 there was a withdrawal in the amount of $34.98, on 9/18/2015 a withdrawal of $2.99, on 9/18/2015 a withdrawal of $4.99..  This is what happens when people like this can a whole of your credit card.  on 9/18/2015 I received a deposit back into my account for $4.99.  on the same day there was a deposit of $29.99 and on 9/28/2015 a deposit of $5.00.  I'm still due $32.97..

I have been using Somnapure for 10 months. It works great for me. I use 1 pill at night an hour before I go to bed.
I purchase mine on Amazon. I get 60 pills in a bottle for approx. $20 per bottle. Buying 3 bottles at a time.
The last time I bought them, I had to search around on Amazon to get the right Distributor.
Very happy with the product. Feel great in the morning.

Well I don't know about anyone else's experiences but I tried their "sample" trial & after 10 days I cancelled the product but then Somnapure tried sending me this "Puritea" sample but I refused that one too! Now after 3 months I find on my B.O.A. statement this morning that Somnapure has the nerve of charging me $29.99 + $4.99 again & I cancelled ALL their memberships ! What gets me it states in their cancellation policy that you may cancel your membership "hassle-free" without reason as long as you do it prior to getting your next shipment? But I've NEVER received anymore shipments prior to my cancelling my trial membership and now after 3 months their charging me all over again!!!!
