TIMOTHY R.
Country: United States
I received a letter from this company, MCM on May 19th, 2007 on behalf of the Aspire credit card company about a debt. On may 21st, 2007 at approximately 8:35 a.m. Arizona time I called in to respond to the letter.

The person I spoke with was so rude, that I did not get his name because he actually hung up on me. I tried to explain to him that I had settled this account on April 12th, 2007 and that if he would like I could send him over, meaning fax, the original settlement letter, the letter from the creditor showing that this account was paid, and the bank statement, if they needed a copy of that as well.

This guy did not even try and talk to me; he was the rudest creditor I have ever dealt with. I know that nothing will be done about it and another person will have to endure his brutal behavior but I have written all three credit-reporting agencies about how MCM conducts their business when it comes to trying to collect a debt. I am going to search to see if there is a complaint line against the aspire credit card company, and if there is not one I will be starting one.

I admit that I have not been the best creditor in the past but I have fixed my debt with aspire, and for someone to act the way they did in order to try and collect a debt, you must have a load of delinquent accounts in your desk because if I had not settled this debt prior to dealing with this individual. I would have shredded your letter, and said the hell with you.

I do collections and if I ever talked to a client the way I was talked to. I would not expect one dollar from this individual, bottom line if your in collections, and you have someone trying to explain to you that they have settled the account, or if someone is calling to resolve a debt. YOU LISTEN! And you do not HANG UP! On the person because whether or not they have fallen behind in their debt or are current, they are still a CLIENT!!

Sincerely,
A client you will never have again.

I had a similar experience.  We received a letter with the same credit card and when I called to explain that we had never had a credit card with Aspira, and that the middle initial on the letter was not correct, I was interrupted and told to send it back and HUNG UP ON before I could get it out that we had a 6 year old grandson with the initial and i was concerned that someone may have stolen his SS# - I called back and asked that I not be hung up on so I could get out my concern.  I never got all the info out because as soon as I said the letter was sent to us in error, but that I was not going to waste my stamp sending it back if they wouldn't talk with me to clear things up - they broke in and said "send it back" and hung up AGAIN.  I called again and asked to be transferred to a supervisor and was told I had to tell them what I wanted.  I explained, they said send it back, I told them I was not wasting my stamp to send it back but wanted to speak to a manager and was told I would be put into voice mail - I left a voice mail regarding the rudeness of their people, but I do not expect to get a return call.  I would like to report them to some authority that oversees the licensing of collection agencies.

I USED TO WORK FOR THEM. THE HORROR STORIES ARE SO TRUE. WE WORKED IN A DIALER SYSTEM. WE HAD SO MUCH TIME ON ONE ACCT AND IF WE COULD NOT COLLECT , WE HAD TO GO ON.  IN MANY SKIP TRACING INCENDENTS WE WERE TO PUT A KNOWN RELATIVES ADDRESS ON THE ACCOUNT AND SEND OUT A DEMAND LETTER.THEY HAS A DEPARTMENT THE CALLED "REWORK" IF THE CUSTOMER REFUSED TO PAY SO MANY TIMES , THEY FORWARDED ON TO THE MOST AGRESSIVE COLLECTORS TO PUT MORE PRESSURE ON THEM.  THEIR GOAL IS TO GET THE CUSTOMER TO SET UP CHECK PAYMENTS FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME..THE MORE CHKS IN THE SYSTEM THE BETTER YOU PAY SCALE.. I COULD BE MAKING 12.50 1 WEEK AND 17.25 THE NEXT .
I HAVE SEEN THEM CALL THE CUSTOMER EVERY DEROGETORY NAME POSSIBLE ..
LUCKING I WAS THERE ONLY A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.   A SUPERVISOR I HAD BEEN GOOD FRIENDS WITH, WENT ON VACATION WITH METO SAN DIEGO AND WANTED ME TO SMUGGLE DRUG OVER THE TJ BORDER WITH HIM , WHEN I REFUSED, THEY FOUND A WAY TO TERMINATE ME.  THESE FOLKS SHOULD NOT BE IN THE COLLECTION BUSINESS

I'm so irritated with MCM right now! They told me I have a balance and my so-called account manager is never in his office and now I know the phone number including his extension by heart!...Ridiculous! I called back to speak to someone else so that I could pay but when they asked for my account number they immediately transferred me to my [***] ACCOUNT MANAGER WHO NEVER ANSWERS HIS PHONE OR RETURNS MY CALLS!!!!....In addition I tried to give a complaint and the lady cut me off and wouldn't listen to a word I had to say!....I'm not paying, they can suck balls!...This is a call for any and everyone who has ever had a complaint with them to band together and report these crooks to the Better Business Bureau! Here's the website!!! http://www.bbb.org/

So as many of you have posted this company is a major pain in the ass....they have been calling my house for my daughter who is in rehab,  I tell them send a letter of debt and I will be happy of forward it to her, they then tell me they have sent several letters to such and such address in FLA  HUMMMM we live in KY and never has my daughter resided in Fla.  when I tell them this they hang up and in about 1 hour they call back....always under Unknown Name.....they as me to verify her SS# to which I reply NO WAY...if they were a so called Legit Debt Collector they would know her correct mailing address and Never would they expect someone to give a SS# over the phone.  Screw these [***]....they wont see a dime of my daughters $$$  not today NOT EVER!

MCM does not follow correct procedures when speaking with anyone nor dealing with them. They said I owed on a credit card with the last due date of June 4, 05' so I requested in writing validation of the debt. They did not get back to me within the 30 days by LAW they are required to do so. One year and a few months later I get a letter with 4 year old account statements saying I owe this debt and a lovely letter from them that this is an attempt to collect a debt. So again I send them another Validation letter, this time telling them that I am disputing the debt and would like PROPER verification meaning the agreement that authorizes them to collect debt on the "alleged debt", the signed agreement by ME that says I agree to pay them, and the PROPER documents regarding the payments made on this account validating the amount. I just sent this out, I am waiting to see if they can get this "supposed" information from this credit card company and send me back this information that i asked for. A little over 4 years has passed since that date, and according to California law..statue of limitations is up on this "debt". I do know its not my bill, so i do plan to fight it tooth and nail regardless of the time difference. I know it will be awhile until i hear from them again so i will make sure in 30 days to contact all three credit reporting agencies and explain to them that MCM has not complied with FDCPA regulations.

This company is the worst collection company in the world.  When you try to call and resolve the problem you have representatives that instead of trying to help you resolve the problem, they want to talk to you as though you are 5 years old.  This debt that I have is very old, because of a lot back and forth with the orginial company, which never sent me out the settlement contract to get this debt paid.  This debt has now been sold and resold to everybody's mother, brother, aunt, uncle and cousin.  Too make a long story I called in to get the bill resolved and everything that I asked to possibly do, I was shut down.  I spoke to a Ms. Martinez and had already explained to her how nasty another person of her company so that she doesn't do the same thing......what do you think she did the same exact thing wanting to talk with me as though I was five, then has the nerve to say I am going to put on hold until you calm down, as though I was getting a time out, but yet she wanted to talk to me any kinda way.  I called back agaiin to speak with another representative only to be put on hold for 10 Looooooooooooooooooong minutes while they sit and talk amongst themselves.  Mr. Tahile gets on the phone and do the very same thing that the other representatives and did and started going off as well.  He said well you called this month so we want money this month, although I was telling him payments could't start until the 10th of April.  Today is the 22 of March, I was asking for 16 days to start he made it sound as though I was asking for the impossible.  So I then questioned him and said if I called in April then it wouldn't be no problem and  he said, so I said fine I'll call you back in April.. These people have no compassion for other human beings.  If I had talk to someone on the phone the way they talk to people I would have been FIRED ON THE SPOT.   It is obvious that they do not have any customer service skills as all and do not know how to deal with the public.

How does one get them to stop calling? The debt I have is for a total of $400. and its 7 years old. They call our number 4 - 5 times a day. Its listed on caller id as unknown caller. NOW, they are calling my elderly mother in another state? Can I somehow block the number through my phone company?

I have been getting letter and calls from Jason Martin. I started making payments on an 869 debt. After the first payment I had some financial trouble and had to reduce my payments and he agreed. I received a letter stating the new payment and the check number. Times got even harder and I called to push the payment back to the next month and I didn't get an answer and I left a message. No one called me back and he sent the payment through anyway causing me to go into overdraft with my bank. Upon getting the letters from my parents house the balance went up, which he did not say it would do when we lowered the payments. I am not satisfied with this company at all and will be cancelling my checks.

I get a call at the same time each morning from an "Unknown" number.  They claim to be MCM Midland.  I refuse to give anyone who calls that comes up as an unknown number any personal information over the phone.  I tell this each time to the MCM caller and ask that they call back with a traceable number.  Almost every time they then hang up on me.

I was on vacation for them last week and received a call from "unknown" every morning at 6:15AM. When I answered there was no one until the other day. I explained they had the wrong number and that I was not in my time zone and they had woke me up on vacation every morning. I asked the name of the caller and I got "Bob Jacob", sorry he didn't sound like a person who would be named "Bob Jacob". He then told me he was in india. He then said he would not call and he said he must have the wrong number and asked if we could end the call. At this point I said "NO no Bob we can't end the call you have bothered me enough and now I want to talk". I proceeded to ask him stupid personal questions....which he didn't know how to answer. Just so everyone knows Bob isn't married, has no kids, no pets and most other questions were not answered or unrecognizable with his thick accent (not an accent you would expect from a Bob). The good news is I haven't heard from Bob Jacob since. What a scam and a pain in my vacation. Good luck

I received a letter stating I owe $1,762 and have no idea for what. It was addressed to a different first name but the last name was the same and the address. I called and gave the guy the account number. He said "the name on the acct" Me: thats not my name. In a harsh tone Him: "Then why did you open her letter" Me: Because it was sent to my house. Him: "Whats the address", Me: Same as mine. Him: Well just put it back in the envelope and put wrong address return to sender. Me: Ok so, then he just hung up on me. I didn't even get a chance to say anything. He was just rude. I work at a bank and would never talk to a customer that way.
