Unsolicited and then rude

Complaint

I answered one of the many "unknown caller", "unknown number" calls today and someone actually was on the other end, unfortunately.  The woman gave me her name (which I didn't catch) and said she was with EZ Yellow Pages and needed to update our business information before the invoice was sent out.  Oh, I need to state that she asked for the owner (my husband) by his first name and then I asked if I could help her.  As soon as she said "before we send out the invoice" I informed her we would not accept any invoice from the company.  She said okay they would delete all of our advertising and no one would be able to find us by the end of the week.  I am really tired of having to put up with these sort of callers, especially when they are just rude and as far as I'm concerned, obnoxious.  They don't even give a person a chance to tell them "take this number off your calling list".

Isn't there anything that can be done about phone numbers and identities that are hidden from the called party?

I just got hung up on by a lady form EZ Yellow pages...sorry to see this has happened to so many others...same thing, she wanted to CONFIRM my business listing and when I asked if this was a FREE listing she said no. It cost $449 the same amount I have been paying for 5 years. I said that is impossible and to cancel...she said "I cannot cancel that is a different department...may I ask why you are cancelling"? When I said because I have never even heard of your company, she said fine and hung up on me! So, has anyone actually received and INVOICE? Thanks! Mick

    yes  same complaint
Someone with foreign accent called to renew my
ezyellow pages, when I asked what I had paid for it the past year. She advised me she did not have that information available.

These calls are quite a nuisance as this is a Catering company and 90%
of our business is phone related.   When we are attempting to be polite
on a phone call we are  wasting  time when we could actually be talking
to someone about business.  I am learning to tell people to just fax me
information and when I review I will decide to give you a reply

I was just called by the rudest woman trying to collect $495 for an ezyellowpages ad she said I authorized. When we received this bill a week ago, we knew we never advertised with them and threw it away. When I told her I never authorized this she said she had it on audio tape. Well come to find out my babysitter had answered the phone and had answered yes to the usual questions, she was not told there was a bill coming, just that they were confirming our business info. When I informed this woman of the mistake she got real rude and made threats about ruining our credit. I have reported them to the better business bureau, am writing a letter to them as well informing them they did not speak to an authorized representative of our company.

We too just had a call (unknown name & #)-all the exact tactics as everybody else reports. When I told them NO I don't want the ad, NO we never ordered the ad, he argued with me.  I really had to laugh when he tried to tell me the invoice he was sending was the same cost we paid last year since I pay every bill and never paid this company a penny.  I asked what it was (since I couldn't possibly know) and was told over $400 (I think it was the $449 price).  I told him they could keep our ad in ONLY if they list us for FREE at which point HE GOT HUFFY and said "we don't do business like that and give it away for free" then hung-up!  Of course they don't; they scam people for large amounts of their hard earned money!  If I get an invoice I'll have something to take to the Attorney General's office or someone in our State government!

There is a website called easy yellow pages .com with contact information including mailing address and phone numbers. These "people" call my business at least 2 to 3 times a day. I will be contacting my states attorney general.

I can'te believe so many of you are also getting these annoying phone calls from EZ Yellow Pages.  I get about 2-3 of them a day from different people (voices) and each time, when I question who they are or say that the "person in charge" is unavailable, the line goes dead. I just got one about 20 minutes ago and decided to do some research and here you all are...thank you for all your feedback!!  Next time they call I will just say "have you ever heard of complaintwire.org"??

I was on the phone when another call came in and I couldn't check the caller ID so I picked it up, and, you guessed it, an EZ YellowPages representative wanted to confirm my info and what did I want to do about the $479 invoice? I repeatadly told him that I don't pay for any "YellowPages" online advertising! He said that I've had the account since last year and what did I want to do about the invoice? I told him to take my info out as I wasn't gonna pay them a penny! He then made some rude comment and hung up. What an f-ing scam!

I received two of these calls this morning.  The first caller just hung up when I said the address information was "incorrect".  The second caller told me we had been advertising for 5 years and an invoice for $479 would be sent.  I stated we had never paid or received an invoice from EZ Yellow Pages (yes--both spoke at lightening speed, in part, I think, to intimidate and confuse the employees who answer phones...employees who often are unaware of the company's accounts payable and advertising venues).  We are located in Washington State.  Anyone in Washington getting these calls also?  I suspect these scheisters target a specific area and then move onto another.  Hopefully another EZ person will call today so I can tell 'em where to go.  Also, I will call the BBB and the attorney general's office.

I've had about 8 calls so far and they come in on by cell phone as well. sometimes interruting lagetament calls. I have said yes to the confirming questions but so for stopped short of ordering the add. I hope that hasn't been a misstake. I told them that I am on 13 search sites and have not heard of them. Thats about the time they hang up. or tell me that they will delete all my info from the those sites.

You're a genius! I wish I could leave them on hold for days! :) I've been receiving calls non-stop as well and I just tell them my employer has final say so. They basically ask you to verify your business information, and once you say "Yes" you're basically accepting the invoice (for $497, which they do not bother to inform you of). I'm was thinking of calling the BBB here in CA, and now that I read what action you took, I'm going to proceed. Thank you for posting the phone #, since they always show up "unavailable".

These freakin guys! I have "EZ Yellow Pages" and "Online Yellow Pages Group Inc"calling! They both say I owe the same amount. They called, I did not hear the "ez" or "online" assume this is real. I agree to all the crap they spit out and they recorded it of course. Now I have phone calls and invoices. Do I have to pay? Can they really send it to the credit people? Help I just hang up.

these calls are incessant and so annoying.  I can't take it anymore - 3 to 4 per day from these yellow page listing services.  I can't get them to stop calling. It's a huge waste of time and so frustrating

I have just experienced all of the above. In addition, one of our employees, was misinformed/misled and authorized this listing for $479.99

Please any one of you that has experienced this, know that this is illegal. It is not a binding charge when they Ez Yellow Pages, did not utilize proper steps or follow the law to ensure that, pthe agent they are talking or recording has authorization. That said, Please send them a certified letter to: 1 Columbus Center Suite#600 Virginia Beach, Va 23462 with proper Affidavit and get them to go away. If they don't, provide to FCS your proper documentation.

I Googled the phone number the Easy Yellow Pages woman gave me and found http://www.easyyellowpages.com/.  I searched "health care" in Chicago and their search found no results.  Nice resource, this "EASY YELLOW PAGES".  Good thing I don't need a doctor.

    Not So Fast!
I got a call today, just as outlined in all of the comments before mine.  I have already done the advertising for the year and I did not fall for it.  I asked them to repeat the info so I could look at the listing online before I verified any information.  When I could not find the ad I told them do not send me any invoices because I will not be paying them.  He was NOT happy and told me they would take me off "the internet".  Beware of ANY phone call solicitation you get for advertisement.  Anyone who I advertise with must meet me face to face and show me what book/online ad I will be listed in.  It makes it much easier to sort out!

I hope these idiots don't get people to fall for their trap.

Thanks for the advice...Is this the address of somewhere that will actually take me off their billing and mailing list? (This is so frustrating!)

If you accidentally "authorize" payment to this "company", you should try calling the 800 number that they gave at the end (luckily I wrote it down, but if you didn't, the one the gave me was 877-327-9680).  I asked our owner about it, he called the 800 number very upset and gave them some choice words. I called "the advertiser" back later and politely explained that I may have accidentally authorized an account with them, and the person said that the account had already been cancelled.  So, we'll see if I actually end up getting a bill in the mail...

These guys call us all the time.  I always ask them to explain the difference between 'Yellow Pages' and 'EZ Yellow Pages'.  When they ask to talk to the marketing department, I send the phone call back to reception to have them sent back to me.  I was once told that this was for advertising 'on the the computer' so I asked him what a computer was.

Not very professional on my part, but it makes the morning go quicker.

What a fraud company. They pulled my website off of google @ http://www.empirecares.com and said they were going to renew based on the last years in Whittier California. My address in Whittier California is only a couple of months old. Just another one of many thousands of directories on the net, but with a fralso advertising twist. They are trash.
