Unsolicited and then rude

I answered one of the many "unknown caller", "unknown number" calls today and someone actually was on the other end, unfortunately.  The woman gave me her name (which I didn't catch) and said she was with EZ Yellow Pages and needed to update our business information before the invoice was sent out.  Oh, I need to state that she asked for the owner (my husband) by his first name and then I asked if I could help her.  As soon as she said "before we send out the invoice" I informed her we would not accept any invoice from the company.  She said okay they would delete all of our advertising and no one would be able to find us by the end of the week.  I am really tired of having to put up with these sort of callers, especially when they are just rude and as far as I'm concerned, obnoxious.  They don't even give a person a chance to tell them "take this number off your calling list".

Isn't there anything that can be done about phone numbers and identities that are hidden from the called party?

    EZ Yellow Pages Suxxxxx
Sprint says I can't block UNKNOWN numbers so maybe it is time to change companies.  This EZ company calls at least two times a week now for the last several months.  I should get one of those very loud sports wistles and blast them from now on.  Also the 888-881-7236 number is a valid number for them and I may have my computer start calling that number as often as possible since they get charged by the amount of calls they receive.  If anybody has any more valid phone numbers for them, please post them.

Has anyone here ever heard of a company called EZ Connect?? My business keeps getting harassing phone calls from them ( everyday 5 times a day to be exact) about updating our business information. I eventually resorted to cursing out the "manager" after he called me a tired bi*ch!I just laughed it off and said some not so nice things to him but I have never heard of this company before...maybe someone related to these ez yellow pages?

I work for two different offices and we receive not only the mailings that look like the invoices, but the phone calls.  The people are consistently rude.  On several occasions I've been unable to even understand half of what the person says.  Add to that, when I tell them "no" to the confirmations or tell them straight out before they start that we do not respond to calls of this nature, or even that I am not authorized to make decisions or even verify the information they continue to YELL at me "Ma'am this is not a solicitation, we aren't selling anything, we just want to confirm your information."  I've tried hanging up but they dial me right back.  At some point doesn't this start bordering on harassment especially when you have expressed on several occasions that they stop?

EZ Yellow Pages is likely the same group as the 'Online Business Directory' (believe that was the name) I've been getting calls like these for a couple of years now, the calles have an Indian accent but usually give names like Wilson or John.  They're often rude however they get as far with me as some of the previous examples described here, I simply say 'no update' or hang up on them (I've aslo put them on hold for awhile).  If you start asking questions they'll just hang up on you.  I've tried tracing the # but it always comes up as invalid (interesting that some people have been able to reach them).  These people need to prosecuted and stopped in their tracks!  I believe a senator got involved with stopping the frequent 'car warranty calls' and something along those lines needs to happen again.  As a small business owner these calls cut into productivity and can effect your day; some weeks I've received 3/4 calls from them.  Lets put an end to this!!!

EZ Connect called my business 5 times in 3 hours today. They are rude and try to talk over you and argue with them. They say they need to verify the mailing address as they are sending me a free USB. I tell them I do not want them to send me anything and I do not want them to call me again.

Every business needs to put out a memo or whatever means you have to notify
ALL employees, yes, even the cleaning people since calls have come in after business hours. Place a card by each phone telling them NOT to give
any info or say yes to anything. Just hang up.  I have emailed our local
TV that has a Call 4 Action segment & I hope they will be able to spread the word about these calls & hopefully find a way to stop the calls.

I received a call yesterday, and I believe the woman said she was from yellow pages, no EZ before that.  She wanted to know if I wanted to renew my subscription.  I said only if it is free, and she said in fact it was not, and that I had had a listing with them since March 2010 and would have to pay for both 2010 and 2011.  I told her I did not order that, and certainly didn't do any listings for a fee.  She became rude and I told her to not call back.  She started calling back, and obviously went to my website and found my company number.  Each call was from anonymous or blocked.  She called both numbers repeatedly for over an hour.  With each call I hit the decline button and then the other line would start ringing.  I picked up a time or two and she would start screaming at me and tell me to go to the web and she could prove I owed her money. I  would not listen and hung up, and decided to quit answering.  She called over 80 times yesterday, and started up again this morning, though she gave up within an hour.  I assume based on these reports I will have to put up with this for a while more now but will not answer the phone if it is blocked or anonymous.

AT and T can't block blocked, unknown or anonymous calls either.  The customer service rep said I would have to get a court order to get the actual # they called from.  Since this appears to be an active scam, I wonder why no attorney's generals aren't pursuing this.

It's been weeks since my last call.  I told them that I was recording the call for my records and that I knew this was a scam that would be reported to the proper authorities. Told them that I have kept records of all the calls, dates & phone numbers.  CLICK & no calls since.

I got the exact same thing. Jerry is full of sh*t just like his phone calls. Exact same phone number and everything. Get ready to get busted Jerry. 347-377-9831.....a 'magic jack' service used for a company? When he answered the phone, he just said "how can I help you?" No company name, etc.....complete fraud. I ought to enjoy harassing this piece of scum.

Recieved SEVERAL calls from this Jerry Smith guy saying I have a past due bill. First call he said he was with Yellowpages.com (Which IS who I advertise with. They take $$$ straight from my account. We got in to an argument about it. HE called back a week later. He did not remmber the previous call just a week earlier. This time he said he was YP.com (Which is yellowpages.com). I told him he was a liar and a fraud and hung up after some choice words. He called back four times. Then identifying himself as yellowpagesonline.com.
I tried calling him back on the number he called me from (343-377-9831). I got a recording directing me to another number (305-848-8288) because that number was improperly routed. When I dialed the new number I also had to put in the original number. Which then identified it's self as a magic jack number and told me to saty on the line. No one ever answered.
I reported this guy to the FCC, Md and NY States attornies. And will be calling our local consumer and fraud hotline first thing tom.

    Another one for Jerry
I got the same call from Jerry. I asked him for impressions clicks and creatives. I asked him for signed contracts and approved creative contracts. He's suing me too! Hahaha. I have some ideas for him and his email and phone number. I turned him over to the YP.com legal department and gave him my credit card AFTER I cancelled it and forewarned BofA so they could run a trace route on his CC terminal. I set him up pretty good and he is under investigation actively by YP.com for copy write infringement and BofA for theft.

Same rude people trying to verify information. Since my incoming calls maybe monitored. What I do is tell them that I cannot verify any information but I can give them a fax number so they can fax their information and that I will give it to my managers. So far every time I say that they hang up. :)

Why doesn't the legitimate Yellow Page business do something about this? Even if the legitimate Yellow Page business called me...I would tell them I wasn't interested and to take me off the call list and hang up the same as I do with the fraudulent company. How can one know the difference? Maybe all these complaints should be forwarded to them.

I walked into my office this morning and saw I had 12 missed calls.  All from the same number with no messages!  They called from 4:54 to 7:00, probably in order to catch someone who would not understand that it was a scam.  This morning one of my employees came in and told me they had called three times and were going to cancel our yellow page ad with them and it was going to cost $599.  They said I had authorized this.  She (my employee) told them she needed to contact me and check and she would call them back.  They said that you "can't call them back".  This back and forth continued and eventually they left an "authorization code" of some type.  I attempted to call the number, but it was "no longer in service".  My hope is they call while I'm in, I can't wait to talk with these people.

This happened in our small business, a sales rep from "Yellow Pages" spoke with a secretary and they pushed her into "just conforming the business information"  for the yellow page add that we already had. Then our company was sent an invoice for over $400. (I don't have the bill in front of me so I'm not sure of the exact dollar amount.) Anyway, the owner said that there is no way the company was going to pay for something they did not agree to, especially from a company that we had not even heard of! He spoke with this company and they let us listen to a recording of the "conversation" that they had with the secretary... Everything sounded fine, like she was just confirming the real yellow pages information, until the very end, they stated something like "Do you agree to pay $(amount) for this listing?" They doctored a "yes" in her conversation to sound like she had said yes to that question! The owner knew, as well as I that she did not agree to pay this amount! After I told the company that we refuse to pay and that it is a ridiculous scam, they stopped calling. But very recently we received a new invoice from 'Yellow Pages United' for over $800! (Probably two years worth of this 'service') Shortly following a notice from a collection company for this outstanding balance! We now have a bill for over $800 that Yellow Pages United sent to collections!  We are stuck between a rock and a hard place. The owner refuses to pay, it's the principal of it! But of course we do not want it to go to collections!  BEWARE OF ANY COMPANY CLAIMING TO BE "YELLOW PAGES"
