Unsolicited and then rude

Complaint

I answered one of the many "unknown caller", "unknown number" calls today and someone actually was on the other end, unfortunately.  The woman gave me her name (which I didn't catch) and said she was with EZ Yellow Pages and needed to update our business information before the invoice was sent out.  Oh, I need to state that she asked for the owner (my husband) by his first name and then I asked if I could help her.  As soon as she said "before we send out the invoice" I informed her we would not accept any invoice from the company.  She said okay they would delete all of our advertising and no one would be able to find us by the end of the week.  I am really tired of having to put up with these sort of callers, especially when they are just rude and as far as I'm concerned, obnoxious.  They don't even give a person a chance to tell them "take this number off your calling list".

Isn't there anything that can be done about phone numbers and identities that are hidden from the called party?

Post and post and post about this company. they pulled my web off of google 2 weeks after I submitted it to google. Http://www.myorangcountyplumber.com and tried the exact thing with me. The only other search directory I had submitted it to was Brownbook.net. Fraudelent advertising, rude and when I told them I was going to record the call they hung up on me. Do not use this company.

This is not about "contracts", "authorizations", "agreements", "cancellations", etc.  It is just a telephone scam.

They know most of their "customers" don't actually agree to their services.  That was the whole point of their original deceptive calls which fail to disclose the actual terms of what they are selling.  If they had willing customers flocking to buy their "listings" they wouldn't need to use deception.

They will probably wait a month, then start harassing and billing you for the "order" you "authorized" despite your "cancellation".  Any record of your "cancellation" will likely just "disappear".

How hard they push later depends on whether they think they can get you to pay versus the risk you will push back with FTC and state Attorney General complaints.  They have years of experience in doing this scam.  They also have years of small business complaints outlining their deceptive marketing tactics.

No, you don't have to pay we just threatened to call the FTC.  Another man called (didn't catch his name) and he asked if we wanted to cancel our order I said yes and he gave me a Conf.# and a phone #877-408-8342 to cancel our order.  I told him to google his company and see all the scam complaints.

No, you don't have to pay even if they say they have you on recording.  We told them we will contact the FTC and pulled up this web site scam.  So another man called and asked if we wanted to cancel the order.  I said yes, so he gave me an conf. number and a phone #877-408-8342 to call if any questions later.  I told him to look on Google and pull up this site and see all the complaints about his company.

I just filed a complaint with the national "Do Not Call Registry" at www.donotcall.gov . I dont know if it will do anything but if enough people complain to them maybe they will. You do need to have your number registered with them 31 days prior to filing a complaint. I would suggest to everyone to register your numbers with them at that same web site.

I worked for this company. Until i realized it was all a scam. They tried to make us believe they were actually good, and REAL.
I know where they are located, who owns the company, etc.etc.
I worked there for a week and couldn't make any "renewals" so i quit.

They are a bunch of liars that want people to believe they are the actual "yellow pages" specially since it is ran in another country where people dont have any knowledge of what YELLOW pages even are. Please just hang up next time.

I just got a call from this company and the rep was foreign so I didn't quite understand him at first.  He said he needed to verify our company address, phone number and my name for invoices puposes to renew our ad.  I did verify our address before asking him where he was from again.  Before he told me, again he said all I had to do was verify our company address, phone number and give him my name and I could get back to my busy day.  I said I was not authorized to give that info and he would have to talk to  my boss. He quickly hung up and the next day my boss got a call from a pushy, rude woman that he hung up on.  So far we have  not had any more calls, but now after reading all of these complaints, I feel sorry for who calls me again!!

I, too, tried the "Do Not Call Registry," but I was informed that business numbers are not allowed to register.  I actually received a letter last year from the gov't stating that this is only for residential use, and that I would have to take my complaints to other authorities.  I urge everyone to keep reporting and to contact legislators in their state though.  At some point, someone might here us small businesses!!!

I have told "EZ Yellow Pages" to stop calling and we are not interested but they continue to call and harass everyday! We do not and have never advertised with this company. Beware they will claim you that you do only to try and bill you. They always call in with a blocked number, the person on the other end of the line is always rude, this scam of a company does not understand the word NO! Beware!

I did not get this 877 number that everyone else got. I got 214-446-9820 and I do not want to advertise at this time anyways so I quickly said that I wasn't interested and hung up. The guy has called back at least 20 times in a row. I was going to call yellowpages and complain when I can across this site. I am now convinced that this is who I am dealing with. I really had a hard time believing that this was yellowpages doing this. It's also my cell phone which I stupidly listed as my business #. I think it's time to get a new cell #. Thanks everyone for posting and watching each others backs. It made me feel a lot better after being so pissed at this guy!

I just got the same bs that everyone else is complaining about.
Same verbage lines.  Haven't advertized with them. Never got any business through them and asked him  why would I buy it again with no calls.
He basically said do you want it or not.  I told him NO, don't call again and I don't like  your attitude.  Rude.
Don't get hooked in on this scam!!!

I too get calls from them everyday.  Surely the Federal Trade Commission could find them and shut them down.  Surely these practices are illegal.  It almost seems like if you didn't fall for their scam they keep calling just to harass you.

I got a phone call from a EZ Yellow pages solicitor who went through the same spiel. I was born at night but it wasn't last night so I knew a phishing type scam when I heard 'send the invoice' He must have been a 'newbie' because he wasn't too rude right away. Thank God (and AlGore) for the internet. I asked him a few questions while Google searching EZ Yellow Pages and reading the comments on this thread. He stated they were an internet yellow pages provider and they turn up first on a yahoo search. I said yes, perhaps, but you are also first on a Google search. At this time I should mention that he had a distinct Eastern accent such as a person from India or the middle east. After reading him several of these accounts, I suggested to him that perhaps the company he was working for was less than honorable and perhaps he should seek more honorable employment. It was after this polite career change suggestion, that he paused and trying as hard as he could to sound American, stated that he could not get a job as he was confined to a wheelchair just coming back from Iraq. I was about to ask him what unit he served with and some other pointedly military questions when he abruptly hung up. Sleezy Company with equally Sleezy Employees. Having great respect for all patriots who have served in our country's defense from the Revolutionary War to present day, I did not get the chance to totally debase this little twerp, and if I could have reached through the phone line to grasp his pencil thin neck....

Got 2 calls in a row from this scam, with "private call" on my caller I.D.

First call hung up with nobody there, when I picked up.

Second call I answered immediately, and it had a woman on the other end, reading a prepared "script", like a badly trained actress.

As soon as I said, "Your company doesn't sound legitimate, because your phone number didn't show up on my caller I.D.", and "If I wanted to call your company, what number would I call?", the scam-lady HUNG UP!

I agree with everyone, that the government should use a few bucks from the trillions they gave away to Wall Street, and stop these scams! And yes, what's the point of the do-not-call list (DNC list), if the list lets these not-raised-right people through, into our phones?

    Other complaints under that number:
    https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-214-446-9820

They appear to be a telemarketing call center pitching various things, "directory listings" as well as some "job search" pitch.  May have a TX connection, but since they come up as "G Reach" on caller id, they may also be connected with "GlobalReachInt", which is  a Phillipines based telemarketing call center.

If he ok'd a quote, then he didn't accept an offer.  If you think you need a reason not to pay scammers for something you never agreed to, that's it.

Doesn't matter with these jerks, since they make threats regardless, but
if they demand payment, it's no fault of yours.  As you can see from other complaints, they would have done so regardless.

All false invoices or demands for payment from scammers should be reported to FTC, your state AG, and the state AG where they are located.  False invoices received through the U.S. Mail should be reported as mail fraud to the U.S. Postal Inspector.
