So far, this is the second call from this company within a week.  The call tonight came in at 8:04 pm
Caller ID says "Lester, Inc." and the phone number is 606-833-0105. When my answering machine picked up, the caller hung up - same as last time.

I am on the Do Not call list.

Same from mee, they just keep call on a daily bases, and when I let the voice mail pick up, they just hang up.

I wish they would be a way to get rid of these guys, once for all

Call on the number that shows up on your caller id and that will take you to their voice mail. Leave your Name and Number to get removed from future calling.
I did that long time ago and now I dont get their calls. OR You can fill out a small form online on their website, asking them to take you off their list.

    "...INTERCHANGEABLE WITH THEM, ****INDIA**** ..."
    THAT says it all, dear...

We all know what GREAT customer service comes from INDIA!
That, to ME, is all the MORE REASON to NOT give them MY money.

****THERE ARE TOO MANY UNEMPLOYED RIGHT HERE IN THE US****
For that alone, I would refuse to purchase ANYTHING from "LESTER".

    That is correct. ***AND***
If they chose to ignore that verbal request (to be taken off their INTERNAL call list), they can be fined up to $16,000 for EACH OFFENSE, folks!!

Keep a record of the calls, time, date, who you spoke with (employee or other identifying #), and that you made the request.
If they call you - even ONE MORE TIME - report them, using the record of calls.

Don't complain, if you don't take the time to
1 - request they take you off their INTERNAL list
2 - REPORT THEM if they continue to call

Here is the Federal Trade Commission's site regarding Telemarketers (from #28 on is most revealing):
    http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm

If we are diligent in doing this - IN VOLUMES, perhaps the message will get out to these companies that they CANNOT IGNORE REQUESTS TO STOP THE CALLS WITHOUT HARSH PENALTIES.
**WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE**

Also - side note regarding cell phone calls from telemarketers (per the FTC website): "FCC regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers."

Sounds like a NO-BRAINER to me...VOLUMES PEOPLE, report these people in VOLUMES..
THAT is what will create the change we want!!!

***WRONG*** Why take the victim role, and just complain to EACH OTHER, while the calls continue?

    - Answer the phone! (If you want it to be their LAST call to you, that is)
    - Get the name of the person on the other end
    - Tell them to take your number off their INTERNAL call list
    - Make note of the request

    ***IF they call again***
Instead of posting your gripe here - Report them HERE:
    http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm

SERIOUSLY - Ignoring the call, only makes it repeat...and repeat...and repeat. This is not how to handle it.

If you don't like it, then MAKE IT STOP- WE are the ones with the POWER the FTC gave us!!!

Make your FORMAL complaint, then fire away with your "ammo" if/when they call AGAIN:
"I asked on -such and such date-, at -such and such a time-, when I spoke with -so and so-, that I be taken off your internal list. You have now VIOLATED my RIGHT to have these calls stopped, and I will be following up with a SECOND FORMAL complaint about your company to the FTC."

"By the way - Does your company/organization have about $16,000 laying around to pay the fine you will be slapped with?"

Stop whining, people - start using the venue the FTC gave us to put a stop to these scumbags who violate our right to NOT have their calls invading our homes repeatedly...

Think of the progess we could make, if we ALL answered that call, followed the steps above (get call detail), and politely asked to be taken off their INTERNAL call list. At that point, we are all packing a whole lotta ammo, if they ignore our requests.

Even better STILL - in MY opinion: We should ALL call THEM, and request our number be taken off their list....talk about a reversal of FORTUNE!!
    ---PRICELESS---

Who CARES if they sell your number?
If you are on the DNC list, those "advertisers" have to check that your number is NOT on the DNC list BEFORE calling you.

If they do anyway, repeat steps 1-10. (All the more we can NAIL, I say!)

    THEN DO IT, MY FRIEND.
    RIGHT HERE:
    http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm

Compaining in this forum, does not get anything accomplished.
(Do you wish to have them continue, and simply post a complaint on the internet, or ARM yourself with the LAW?)

    It's Janie again
    From the FTC site: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm

"You may also file a complaint if you received a call that used a recorded message instead of a live person (whether or not your number was on the Registry)."

It doesn't specifically say that autodialers/messages are included, but it eludes to that with the above statement. Therefore, and because FEDERAL law precedes State Law, one would assume that ALL states are covered regardless of whether that state specifically has a law governing this practice.

Hinting, by not answering your phone? LOL LOL That's quite the PRO-ACTIVE stance!

    No -they will NOT.

That is, NOT until you use your USA given right to make a formal complaint!
    http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm

Why "HINT", when you can fire with the ammo we are given?!??!

    per "legalactionqueen" :
"Make sure your phone is registered with the FTC, then file your complaint at https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx

File a complaint for EVERY phone call."

    Not entirely CORRECT, dear...
*YOU MUST WAIT 31 DAYS -AFTER- GETTING ON THE DNC LIST - BEFORE MAKING A REPORT THAT SOMEONE IS VIOLATING IT.*

    SEE: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm

"When I register my phone number, how long until it shows up on the National Do Not Call Registry?
After you register, your phone number will show up on the registry by the next day. Telemarketers have up to 31 days to get your phone number and remove it from their call lists."

BUSINESSES ARE EXEMPT FROM THE DNC LIST:

    http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm
    (#14)SAYS:

"Can I register my business phone number or a fax number?
The National Do Not Call Registry is only for personal phone numbers. Business-to-business calls and faxes are not covered by the National Do Not Call Registry."

SIDE NOTE TO THE LAST POST -
Even if we call, and they don't answer - that is one of THEIR lines tied up that they CANNOT use to call...US!

I have received 5 phone calls this week from Lester Inc., stating they are Market Data Retrieval. If they want information, please complete a FOIA request that's posted on our school district's website and we will provide you with the information. Most of the information can be found on the Illinois Interactive Report Card website anyway. If they will fax or email, I would be glad to complete the information and return it in a prompt manner. I do not complete surveys over the phone. There is no way to document the request and they refuse to send any paper copy.

What's the company and what is it selling? I get the same calls, and a hang up when I don't answer. If it's someone representing a valid company he or she shouldn't be afraid to leave a message. Since they don't, I consider it a scam.

    YOUR COMPLAINT HAS BEEN ACCEPTED.

I filed a complaint with the FCC.  They call here 2-3 times a week and no one is ever on the line.  We are a busy office and I am sick of it.

    Also Former Lesters Employee
Those were the days, weren't they? lol! I had a guy tell me (in a calm and low voice) that I needed to find a real job and if I couldn't succeed at that to just go on and kill myself as painfully as possible so the world could have one less lowlife scum. Wow! And all I wanted to do was CONTINUE to send him a free magazine! Needless to say, I put him in for an immediate call back! lol. ONLY JOKING!! I took his death wish upon me as a "NO" and rejected it. But some employees will not do that when someone speaks to them harshly or doesn't directly deny the publication. I believe this is what causes the anger and hostility from those being called. Which I can understand. There are those out there who do not follow protocol very well. But there are many more that do. So instead of lashing out and screaming like an insane person, explain the situation (calmly) to the caller and more times than not he/she will abide by your wishes. It really can be that simple. With our economy the way it is, I see no valid reason for trying to shut down yet ANOTHER company. That would be just that many more unemployed people needing assistance that all of our tax dollars pay for. Think about it! Niceness can go a VERY long way!
