So far, this is the second call from this company within a week.  The call tonight came in at 8:04 pm
Caller ID says "Lester, Inc." and the phone number is 606-833-0105. When my answering machine picked up, the caller hung up - same as last time.

I am on the Do Not call list.

They call and no one is ever there - you can hear the boiler room in the background, but no one speaks.  This is harassment!  Poor call center management.  Not sure why anyone would outsource to them.

Well, if they are calling you then you have signed up for something that has sold your phone number, you subscribed to the magazine they are trying to renew, or your co-worker gave your name. Best way to get them to stop calling is to not hang up, the calling procedure says that they have to put you as an automatic call back if you hang up. Just tell them you don't want it, they may try to pitch it to you, but once they go into the 'well in these difficult economic times' monologue if you still decline they have to put you on the rejection list and they won't call you again. If you do want it then you can't simply say that everything is the same, i wish you could but they do have to do a survey most calls only take about 5 minutes so if it's something you like, it's free, should be worth 5 min a year. If you already went through the survey, there are sometimes duplicates, tell them that you would like to be marked as a duplicate that you already updated (easy way to get them to stop calling as well) *UNLESS YOU WANT IT, IF YOU WANT IT AND IT IS MARKED DUPLICATE YOU WILL NOT RECIEVE IT ANYMORE BECAUSE THAT DELETES YOUR ACCOUNT*

They call and call and call.  I told them specifically to NOT call again but it didn't matter to them.  They called again.  They called again early this morning and I told them AGAIN not to call this number.  I am on the do not call list.  I'm now going to report them to the FCC or which ever government agency regulates this type of activity.

I have gotten numerous call for them trying to give free publication to meetings magazine.  I have told them we are not interrested it is of no use to us and they still call.  I have gotten past the point of trying to explain myself! I am literally down right rude to them and they still won't stop calling.

I've answered these calls a few different ways. At first, I just picked up the phone after the 1st or 2nd ring and said, "hello?"; the caller immediately hung up. Then I let the phone ring several times, and when I picked up, same thing. Today, I picked up after the 2nd ring but remained silent. They didn't hang up. I waited about 10 seconds and finally said, "hello?". They immediately hung up.

The Lester company reps probably get paid for soliciting their clients by making phone calls. Because of "Do Not Call" rules, they can't actually converse. But they could provide a computer-generated log of all the tens of thousands of calls they made for their clients, to which states they were in, and that they were all answered by the recipient (even though no verbal communication took place). That's what I think is a-going on. Lester Inc. has found a way to beat the no-call rule.

Speaking of personal responsibilities - let's keep this in check, shall we?  The personal attacks on "Dana" are a little extreme.  If you've ever gotten a free publication of any kind (especially industry and trade rags), chances are this is why this company is calling. Yes, the tactics (times called, no messages left, vague company references) are annoying.  Either block the number and simply pick up the telephone and call 606-833-0105. Press #2 to be added to the "Do Not Call" list.  You don't need to leave any other information than that.

I just received a call that was Lester, INC on my caller ID.  I didn't answer the phone and they left no message.  I too am on the "Do Not Call" list.  I just look at my caller ID and if I don't recognise the name and/or number, I just do not answer the  phone.  Not dealing with telemarkerers.

This is who is calling you:

    Lester Inc.

    Phone: 800-999-5265
    Fax: 203-483-0408

    Website: http://www.lesterusa.com
Contacts: Joan Marcus, Sr. Vice President
    Lisa Pistilli, Sr. Account Executive

They are a telemarketing service representing other companies. I suggest everyone call the 800 number and flood them with do not call requests. I plan to call it every day they show up on caller ID.

I called the 800 number and informed them we were not interested in doing business with them or any company they represent and that I find their hang up calls harassing. Any further contact from their company will result in a lawsuit for harassment.

She said we will be removed from their list by the end of the day.

Then maybe you should show your mother what her company is doing to piss people off. Let her see how we all feel about them.

So long as her company keeps harassing people they will be considered scammers and a company to avoid.

That is true, if they are calling for a charity they are allowed to make contact. But they also have to have an opt out number and the first time you tell them you no longer want to have contact with them for any reason they are to stop calling you.

After the first notification to leave you alone and they call back it is harassment. Even if the call back is for a different charity.

They are NOT allowed to make hang up calls over and over without identifying themselves.

That is true, they can call a business. But once the business tells them to stop all contact they have to respect that request. They can't keep calling.

They are also subject to the same rules - no canned messages or hang up calls. They have to have a way to opt out.

I try to contact them by email then I print it out and put it in a file. The email tells them we have no intention of doing business with them or any company they represent and we are requesting no further contact from them or anyone they represent. Further contact will be considered harassment and punishable by law.

    It usually works.

It should be that simple but apparently the only simple thing is the minds that work for this company.

Asking to be removed does nothing. They continue to call and harass people.

We don't get free magazines and We don't sign up for anything at trade shows. Yet they call our office constantly. We ask them to stop but they don't.

We are going to turn them in to the DA and press charges for harassment. @ $10K a violation it is now worth the effort.

Thank you for the 800 number. I have called it 3 times now. I didn't want to pay for a long distance call to do it before. Why should I have to pay when they are invading my privacy.

Now every time I get a call form Lester,Inc I will call them back on their dime and play games with them for once.

When they quit calling me I will quit calling them.

I find this all quite comical... All of you who say you are professionals representing your business office should act in a professional manner. Being rude, cussing, etc., these people who are trying to make a living on $7.25 per hour doesn't seem very professional to me. How about this, ask to be put on Lester Inc. do not call list. FCC laws states you have to say those words!!! Yes. Our government makes laws for protection and this is one of them with many loop holes. Ask for it to be sent to you in writing. Lester Inc. will do so. If you are on the DNC list and someone (employee, owner,CEO,or anyone else)has entered your tel# on a postcard, bus. meeting, web site, conference, or anywhere then that person is to blame. Not Lester Inc. THE PERSON WHO LESTER INC. IS CALLING TO CONTACT IS TO BLAME. So be angry with whomever they are asking to speak with. And if that person does not decline the subscription then they will call you back. So that means that the office manager, assistant, secretary or any insubordinate cannot just say they don't want it anymore and be done with the call. The contact name has to deny the subscription. Don't just hang up after screaming DON'T CALL ME ANYMORE! That doesn't work. Take me off your calling list does work. Try it. You'll be surprised how wonderful life can be with a little patience and a smile!!!!
