Winner Scam - 2.5 Million + 2012 Mercedes
Complaint

Country: United States
Mr. David Banks called yesterday from 876-506-6012 (a Jamaica landline according to the reverse phone lookup) stating that I had won $2.5 million and a bonus prize of a new Mercedes Benz auto. My prizes were scheduled to be delivered at 9am on 5/18/12 to my residence and he couldn't wait to see my happy expression when they get here. Mr Banks kept calling all day and into the evening with "last minute arrangements" for the delivery team and at about 4:30.. he explained that all I had to do was to go to WalMart, Walgreens or CVS and acquire a $499 MoneyPack Reload, give him the 14 digit number on the back of the card. I told them that I would go get the card, but that I didn't get off work until 7:00pm and please could they call back at about 8:00pm for the numbers. He said of course (in his best Jamaican accent) and that he would call back then. Within the time from 4:30-7:00pm, Mr Banks called another 4 or 5 times to ask what color car I wanted - choice between White, Red and Blue.... did I think I could get off work earlier since I was going to be wealthy tomorrow... what color interior in the car... just wanted to touch base & make sure I was going to be able to make it to get the card because he was "trusting" me etc... He called back at 8:00pm and I told him that I was unable to get the card because they were out, but that I would be able to do so early in the morning and be back home before 9:00am to receive my prizes. He started calling early this morning but of course I didn't answer because I was "on the road" getting the card... I finally answered about 9:00am - "my car didn't start so I had to send a friend to get it for me and she didn't have a cell phone so I didn't know what time she would be back" which bought me more time to think up more to tell him. I finally got "angry" with him early afternoon and told him I wasn't going to give him any numbers until they were sitting in my driveway with my new car and my $2.5 million because they were really late and I said that it was probably a scam anyway. So he had a "Mr Shawn" call me from Las Vegas and assure me that everything was up and up and Mr. Shawn sent me a bunch of paperwork that made everything look really legitimate and asked me to give him part of the numbers and give the rest of them to the delivery team when they got here with my prizes. He called 5 times within 10 minutes after he sent the paperwork and so I told him that my dog had gotten hit and would he please call me back in 30 minutes. I read over all the paperwork and didn't answer the about 20 times he called in between the 30 minutes time slot and then about 10 minutes ago I gave him a line of random numbers and he said thank you and I haven't heard anything from him since. AND of course there is no Mercedes in my driveway or truck with flowers and balloons and a huge check for $2.5 million to hold while they take my picture!! LOL At least I got a little fun out of it myself!!

I have dealt with scames before so I was not ready to fall for this one. $ 250.- was to be a fee but he kept saying it was a tax.Who ever heard of paying tax before income. and certanly that is not an amount the IRS would except. Nice try
Well my mom is on a fixed income and doesn't have money to just throw around. My mom turned the alleged UPS down so from what she told me, he got on the phone and called some guy. It was probably one of the names that was bandied about in earlier tellings. Anyway this guy tries to explain to my mom that the sweepstakes is on the up and up and her prize is just a WalMart MoneyPack away. She still turned them down and from what she told me the guy told her she had forfeited the prize and the UPS truck drove away.
I told her that she did the right thing because it sounded a little too fishy. I also advised her to call the cops and advise them of what happened because I don't like how they got her address (whether she gave it to them or they got it through some other means) and to be on the lookout for suspicious activity around her house. Obviously the UPS guys (which I assume was a fake one) knows she's disabled, on oxygen and has limited mobility which could make home invasions easy pickings for them. Luckily she lives in a somewhat small town so cops periodically patrol the street she lives on.
Bottom line, this is a scam and luckily so far no one has fallen for it.
On my phone do not do....thank good I tested him for hours before he freaked out stupid American give me money!
dollars and a new 2013 blue Mercedes Benz because I paid my bills on time All I had to do is go to CVS or Walmart which ever was closer to me and put $200.00 on a Green Dot Money Card and this card would be the card that UPS needed to release the 2.5 million dollar check and they would in turn take me to pick up the car. The number on the card was also needed for the bank to deposit the check in my account. I told him that I didnt have $200.00 dollars so he toll me his supervisior would accept 50.00. I told him I wasent going to do it. When he hung up I went to the computer and put the name of the company and my computer came up with hundreds of people posting the same attempted scam. I had already received several other scams like this so I didnt get sucked in.
PCH doesn't ever charge a delivery fee so that screams scam nor do they call to warn you.
