I laughed out loud as I read the mail today.
Before me was the most ridiculous post card solicitation. Highlighted on
the post card were the words FINAL NOTICE.
The notice explained  that the VEHICLE'S FACTORY WARRANTY HAS
EXPIRED, OR MAY EXPIRE SOON DEPENDING ON MY CURRENT MILEAGE.
The card also explained that I MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR UP TO 5
ADDITIONAL YEARS OR 125,000 MILES.
Imagine how I felt.  Naturally I'm concerned about the rising costs of
repairs. I'm also concerned about proper maintenance and up keep for
an automobile.
But friends, this must be a SCAM!
My car, now get ready for this is way past the warranty stage. And I have  a really great mechanic, in fact I have 3.  Now are you ready?
MY CAR WAS BUILT IN 1985. I'll repeat that. I drive a 1985 GMC.

I get these calls regularly, on my cell, at home, and on an office line in a work room that has never made a solicitation call of any kind and shouldn't be on anyones database anywhere. The randomness and persistence of these calls stuns me.

I looked up the website posted above, generalwarrantyservices.com, and according to whois information they are registered through godaddy.com and have Domains By Proxy listed as a registrant. Domains By Proxy is a service that allows you to hide your real name and address from the world, something most individuals might like for personal websites but legitimate companies shouldn't need. Godaddy is a very large company but also very inexpensive and easy to set up a website through.

    Let the buyer beware.

I get these call all the time. It says the same thing. I know it's a scam. I have an '06 MINI Cooper and the warranty doesn't expire 'till 2011. They say "your vehicle" whereas an actual company would tell you what vehicle i.e. MINI Cooper. Also, they don't tell you the company name. I've pressed 1, but after waiting a few min to be connected to a representative so I could ask to be removed from the list, I gave up and just hung up

I get these calls on my cell phone and the great part about it is that I don't even HAVE a car!!!  And I just got this cell phone last year.  Didn't have a car then either.  LOL!!!

I just hung up on these sleazeballs for the umpteenth time. Every time they call, I ask them to remove my number from their list, and every time they ignore it. The last call was to my cell phone, and the incoming number was 239-489-3230. I Googled it and got a John and Louise McKelfrish in Fort Myers, Florida. Just below that, there is a link to "Owner Information and Complaints." The link is "http://www.callercomplaints.com/SearchResult.aspx?Phone=239-489-3230&page=2". I am going to file a complaint with the National Do Not Call List.

I have received two in the past day one from 401-785-1659. I don't know the number of the other one, but I am too young to own a car. It said that this was the second time they had called me, but that was the first call I got.  I didn't listen to the second one long enough to hear anything really.

I have received letters and cards.  I highly agree with all those that have responded to the coments.  I just trash them right away.  Our vehicles are 1986 and 1989.

    I got one from 1-888-978-7704
Don't how they got my contact info and my car info. I just bought a used car. I suspect that they buy info from many used car dealers and pay them kinda commision.

They're gathering your information through any class of lead capture system. Any Credit Card Company is happy to take your information and re-sell it to any third party company that wants to buy their lists. How many credit cards to you have? What other legitimate companies are out there that collect your information? The Home Shopping Network? The Bank? Your local food store? Lead capture systems are everywhere, you are already part of the system. You can contact each of these companies and request that they do not give out your information and they will comply. I used to work for Discover Card and do know that they sell out your contact info all the time, its in their terms of service that you sign when you sign up for a card from them. What needs to be discussed here instead of stating that 'Yup, I've received their calls also',is what does it take to bring the scammers down? As long as life exists there will be opposition. It is one of your most trusted companies that has gone behind your back and provided them with your contact information. Is complaining to any state authority or government agency going to stop one scam before another starts up? I am simply trying to be realistic, and as negative as it sounds, it is the reality of the situation. I guess one perfect solution would be to move to a remote third world country and leave my phone and address behind. I can't think of any alternative solution that would bring this class of scamming to an end.

There are alot of companies out there, but i did my research and Dealer Warranty Services are not telemarketers.

I spoke with Cory and he explained everything.

He said there are many companies out there that are fraudulent, and making illegal out bound calls, but they are strickly an inbound call center. I verified that with the attorney general. who also explained that in the state of missouri, DWS has been the most cooperative in answering questions with them and explaining concerns

I have been receiving these calls for months now. And it's not just one call a day- today alone, my household received 6 of these "warranty" calls. They started at 7:59 am and the last one was at 8:30 pm. My husband decided to talk to the representative and asked the gentleman on the line first and foremost if he could have the name of the company that was calling. The [insert your own noun here] simply said to my husband "Of course not." My husband asked him to repeat himself, which he did and then abruptly hung up.

Our local NBC newstation did a segment a few weeks ago regarding a "warranty" calling/letter scam. The person on the line with the news reporter became very rude and agitated and began yelling at her. She got nowhere other than to be able to say, "Yes, it's a scam."

We have even called the telephone company, who really can't do anything. If there is a solution for this, I am all ears. My family is constantly disrupted by this and the nerve of this company is completely appalling. We are even on the national "Do Not Call" list- these are the only solicitors getting through.

    Innocent Cell Phone Owner
I just got a second call on my cell phone about a expired factory warrantee on my car. They had some information like make and model and also my cell phone.  The number they called from was 1-562-223-8851.  I waited and spoke to a representative that I know that my car has no warrantee.  Even if it did, I would go back to my dealer rather than passing credit card information through the phone.  Someone should put this guys in jail.

Listen everyone, just have fun with these idiots.  Life is for living.  L-I-V-E! Dial in and ask THEM a million questions.  Send them on a wild goose chase.  Repeat things 10 times.  Give them bogus information.

Hey, Saturday Night Live writers, here you go---all wrapped up for you just like Sarah!

What else can you do until they finally get shut down?  Hey, it's got to be awfully boring for them too...have a heart.  lol...  and kick it up a notch or two.

We're behind the times, and recently got our first cell phone.  About 30 minutes after activation, before we had even gotten home or told a single soul that we had a cel phone, we got a call about our expired car warranty.  We get about 3-4 calls a week from them, always from a different number, with area codes from all different states.  It's hilarious.

It comes up UNKNOWN however the telephone number is 919-304-3635.
I received the same automated message on my cell phone, which I never use only as a 10/4 service as we're dispatching/paging our plumbers.
The polite, cheerful voice on the other end told me this was my final notice too.  My car's warranty expired long ago.  My son received the same auto message on his phone, which he does use however he's 13 and hasn't purchased a vehicle as of yet.  My assistant received the same call on her phone just this week too.  I wonder if this is inclusive to cell phones as we haven't received any on our land lines.

Hey just happened to me ... for about the 20th time. I get a call about every week or so. My son who doesn't own a car but just got a cell phone started being harassed by the same calls.

I would love to find out who is doing this so that I could get them to stop. I have the impression if you press "2" to have your number removed from the list what you are actually doing is validating that a real person is on the other end and your number is "active" ... so it can be resold for profit. I have at this point just hung up ... and things have not gotten to worse.

I'm not sure if calling them would work or not. Sometimes, it won't let you call those crooks back.
