I laughed out loud as I read the mail today.
Before me was the most ridiculous post card solicitation. Highlighted on
the post card were the words FINAL NOTICE.
The notice explained  that the VEHICLE'S FACTORY WARRANTY HAS
EXPIRED, OR MAY EXPIRE SOON DEPENDING ON MY CURRENT MILEAGE.
The card also explained that I MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR UP TO 5
ADDITIONAL YEARS OR 125,000 MILES.
Imagine how I felt.  Naturally I'm concerned about the rising costs of
repairs. I'm also concerned about proper maintenance and up keep for
an automobile.
But friends, this must be a SCAM!
My car, now get ready for this is way past the warranty stage. And I have  a really great mechanic, in fact I have 3.  Now are you ready?
MY CAR WAS BUILT IN 1985. I'll repeat that. I drive a 1985 GMC.

Received a VERY official looking letter (they call themselves the MOTOR VEHICLE DIVISION) in the mail telling me my car warranty was expiring.  Called the number just to be safe... 1 minute on the phone with them and you can tell it's not legit.

They (transferred three times) pushed and pushed for me to reveal credit/debit number "whenever I was ready" to make a down payment.  Very, very persistent.  Gave me two very, very significant price reductions one after the other!  I held my ground ... asked that every customer should be allowed some time to think about a deal before signing on... got no answer to that request except more pushing.  Finally, it stopped being amusing so I said "yeah, not today. goodbye"

Btw, my car is a pre-owned 2006.  Also, I recently changed the title because of relocation so if you relocate just watch out for these letters... they come to you around the time you change your title... is the state's motor vehicle dept giving out info?
Guess we'll never know.  Just happy didn't get scammed and hope others don't too!
