Rogers duplicitous customer service

About three months ago, I called Rogers customer service to cancel my cellular services. I was transfered to the customer relations department where I was offered as incentive to stay with Rogers three months unlimited calling. They didn't mention anything else besides that. Sounded good so I went for it. Little did I know that Rogers had cunningly signed me up on a three year contract!!!!!

You can't imagine how enraged I was when I found out. The conniving, scheming and duplicitousness of it all just convinced me I had to get out....I was done with Rogers and no amount of incentives was going to change my mind. I was in for a mega-ton shock when I called to cancel my services. Apparently I would have to pay 400 dollars to cancel...and you know why....because I was on that three year contract.

Let me clarify a few things. About a year and a half ago, I bought my nokia 6682 smartphone full price on no contract. I payed my bills faithfully every single month. I was a free woman, with no contracts. So why in the world would I want to shackle myself to Rogers on a three year contract!!!! Why didn't customer relations mention that the three months unlimited calling entailled a three year contract? Do you see the utter deceptiveness of this all?

About three days ago I called Rogers to sort this all out and thankfully my calling plan was reverted back to what it used to be. But to be honest with you, I'm so angry and tired, that as soon as my account is officially back to a month to month plan, I'm going to get the hell out of Rogers.

Rogers needs to change their policies. Become transparent will all their customers.

    Out of Country
Was out of country and relying on my cell phone to stay in touch with home, business etc.  My usage exceeded my credit limit.  I maintain a credit limit of $300 to ensure that my cell phone is not abused by unauthorized means.

Rogers discontinued my service without any text message, voice mail etc.  Since I was purposefully keeping my cell usage low, I was only phoning when I received a call.  Therefore, with no calls coming in, I assumed all is well.  Was out of contact with home/business for two days without knowing it.  Nothing bad happened but if it did, I'd have no way of knowing unless I tried to make an outgoing call.

Called Rogers when I arrived home and found out my cell was not working.  Rogers says it can't contact you by texting or phone to let you know your account is nearing its limit when out of country.  Their software can't do this.  And, they will suggest this to their development team but can't commit that they will fix this.

I find it incredible that Rogers didn't already consider such issues such as when their customers are away from family and business and may need Rogers service the most.  And when I asked for feedback from their development team advising if they will be working to address this in the near future...the response was that they couldn't call me to tell me.

I would never be so inconsiderate to my clients' needs.  What a shame.  My contract expires in four months.

K so I get a three year contract with rogers. The original phone broke so i got a replacement, they send me the wrong phone and it was refurbished. I couldnt talk or hear no one so I call into rogers not being able to hear that well and they give me the run around so i go to a dealer and they said i used up my talk time. I freaked I was like wtf i couldnt hear anyone dont you guys get it? so i had no choice but to use that phone then i got my student loan and got another replacement. It was a great phone and the dealer said there will be no hardware upgrade fee or activation fee. He waved it and i had witnesses. So i get the bill and they charged me a extra 500$ that braught my account over. I freaked out at the dealer so he sent it in to get it looked at. He never returned my calls so I went there again with witnesses and he said no one looked at it. By this time a month went by I went AGAIN to the dealer and he called in and he told me that it was going to be dealt with and that i would only have to pay the 390$ remaining. No biggy...then i go again he said nothing can be done I told him to call in again said nothing can be done. I went home called rogers they told me i have to pay them over 600$ to get my phones reactivated.... I said [***] you messed my account up and tell me i have to pay the fees? I have everything on paper!. No one listened. Now i want to cancell and they are telling me i have to pay money to cancell them wtf is that?! so they wont let me cancell my phones?

A member of my family ran into financial problems and couldn't pay the bill. Much of it was outrageous roaming charges charged without offering a plan. I tried to talk them down to reduce.

Family member had to leave the country and cannot pay (lost everything), and I thought I would do a favour. Offered 80% of total if not bad credit was reported. They refused and then sent me the total bill via a collection agency!

F--k Rogers. Can we drive them out of this country!?

......I'm not finished.....a long, long time ago.....I sent several registered letters to "Rogers Customer Relations" offices in TO and MO as posted on their sites. After no reply I went to one of them personally. It was a closed building with no reception....a service provider center....a person came out and told be there are no "offices" so go to the nearest Rogers "boutique" which I did. They couldn't help me either and gave me a phone number to call.

The call couldn't help me either as I was not the one registered on the account and forwared my call to accounts receivable that offered to help but since I was not on the account they could not.

Then I received a letter from NB telling me that I had "become registered" and could call and discuss the account which I did. They promised I had an excellent chance to reach an "entente". The next day I received the collection agency bill. Back to Rogers who seemed not to know about the collection agency!

So called the collection agency and was promised that I could settle for less than 75% without bad credit report. Today it's 80% with a bad credit report. Called back to Rogers....it's in the hands of the collection agency.

So no letting go of bad credit, not a penny from me and f--k the credit agency!

We had a very long story with rogers, and now we are in the middle of talks with CCTS they are really trying to solve our situation, but rogers has arability to get out dry from the water. At every our complaint they find explanation so that they seem to be always right. I feel powerless ,they just got the power and do not care about us.

Thanks for all your support and good luck on your part as well!

I know how it feels! My situation is a bit different as I have been asked to handle (pay!) an others account and that in itself is a big problem as you can't access info from Rogers and all is in their favour if you want to make a deal even if it's in good faith on your part.

My last (registered) letter to Rogers and their credit agency "crony" was 80% with no bad credit rating left for the payee.

The credit agency actually said that 80% OK but they would leave bad credit rating for the 20%.

      So I said f--- you.

I won't pay until they come back with a compromise.

Simply I switched to mobilicity and I have unlimited air time unlimited internet and long distance Canada and states but for other companies I use voip just cost me 10 dollars for couple of months.
I'm happy since I've just paid 640 dollars for fine to rogers and paid 150 dollars for sony ericson and even after I unlocked it didn't work with mobilicity (xperia arc) and I paid 350 dollars for buying nexus s but it doesn't support right to left languages. I pay 45.20 dollars for my plan and I'm so happy with that the only problem is in some spots internet is slow especially in high traffic internet hours and specifically in downtown among high rises.
Please read any contract before sign it since dealer lied to me when I get to one of phone dealer booth in fairview mall to get a new phone they told me I should sign a paper to get new phone because my previous phone was dead and I should get a phone and they told me rogers warranty for the phone is just one year and it doesn't go with contract for three years.
But when I called Rogers they told me I've renewed my contract for three years.
Before I drop my contract with rogers I paid my bill but they charge me again 140 dollars more than 500 dollars fine for wireless and data connection.
Since CEO. Of Rogers is east Indian you should be cautious because we know they are so corrupt. In the meantime dealer who decieved me and cost me 640 + 150 dollors was Indian.

I got a phone from Rogers in September 2011 which never worked properly, working 60 hour weeks I didn't get a chance to bring it in for repair until Jan 5 2012, with no loaner phone available!...It is now April 13 2012 and they still have my phone...14 weeks!  I was banned from the store a month ago because the manager said I was verbally abusive and now he won't even answer my emails...I called 1888ROGERS1 several times but since I gave my phone to the store there is "nothing they can do"...also, they want $20/mo to get out of my contract ie. $500+... I cancelled my home phone, internet and HD cable in the meantime, the store manager told me to my face that if I want to cancel my wireless contract that "the ball is in my court"...for $400 a month I expect better treatment from management, piss poor company they think they run the world.

WORST company ever. They're so scheming and conniving. They have absolutely horrible customer service skills. I am so happy that I don't have to deal with their crap anymore. Calling every month to reverse random charges was just too much. I'd stay on the phone 2-3 hours each time. I just cancelled all 3 phone plans that I had with them (mine, my brothers and my sisters) and I decided not to pay them either. So I don't care if my name gets sent to the collection agency. They're not getting one penny from me. They're snakes who will do anything for money. BYE BYE ROGERS. [***].
