On Friday afternoon on 11-13-2009, I went to there high pressured membership meeting. They told me how much I would be saving, like 50% on furniture and so on. They didn't tell me about a 30 day membership pass.I was one of those stupid people that signed up. Over the weekend I found out that my mother from another state, was put in a home because she couldn't be taken care of at her home.  On Tuesday 11-17-2009, I called up and tried to cancel my contract, they said the person I needed to speak to is in a meeting.I called them two more times that day and every day after that telling the receptionist of my financial problems. One guy did finally call me back and said he would have to call some finance place, even after I paid for it all on 11-13-2009. I called about once a week after that, even though I knew I was getting put off. I did look on their web site about a month later and I didn't find any good deals at all, or the things I was looking for wasn't there. If you can help I would appreciate it.        Thank-you  Lloyd Lenington

I bouhgt a warranty from DVW. a few months ago. about 2 months ago we had a claim for 2 tire sensors which my policy covers (i got the best w $0 deductable) they dinied to pay beacuase they were attached to the wheel that is not covered, now my heather core is leaking, that is a cover item but since is leaking is not cover beacuse leaks are not covered. They haven't cover anything,
I'm wating to hear from them to see the outcome of my claim, but first they want me to pay $120.00 to diagnost something that i know is broken, However if the part is not covered  I dont get reimbursed for the diagnostic, now I'm wandering if they are going to cover anything on the vehicle beacuse is all attached to the wheels and i understand they are not covered (LOL now I'm wandering if i just gave them the best escuse to deny all claims) I think  this is not a real bussines like all the other reviwes suggest, I think I'm going to ask for a full refund, since they havent paid 1 penny on repairs, or joing a class action suit,I spend about 3 hrs reviewing this co. and there are about 30 bad reviews to 1 good one, and that is from DVW please post this on all sites, so they can be stoped.  By the way I'm in tucson az.

I purchased a warranty Oct 13th 2014 from Direct Buy Auto in N.J. for $2000. It is now Jan 16, 2015 (3 months latter) My Transmission went out in my 2007 Chevy Suburban the cost Approx $3600! They made me jump through All their hoops, prove I even owned my car &serviced it which I did, made me wait 2 days to sent a inspector out & he agreed it went out & now only want to pay $830.!!!! I did put it on visa when I bought it so I am talking to them about helping me recoop my money. Also I will be turning over to the AG in Oregon. If you have any ideas I would be very thankful!

Don't Do Business With DirectBuy Warranty...

I have never been treated with such disrespect by a company in all of my days on earth. They denied a legitimate claim, customer service canceled our policy for no reason and hung up in my wife's face.

I reported a claim on the 9th of December 2009 and took the car in on the 28th, 2009. An AES certified mechanic from CarX took a look at my vehicle an concluded that the steering assembly had failed, not simply worn out as DBAW continually suggested. He told me that he has never seen anything like what was going on at Direct Buy Auto Warranty. So a long story short... DWAB refused to send out an adjuster and my wife and I are left holding a auto bill for $1300. If Direct Buy had done what they advertised and had written in black and white in their "Coverage Chart" for all the world to see and feel very good about - they would have had a customer for life and several more to boot.

    >>> The follow paragraph was copied from DirectBuy Warrant's actual Coverage Chart:

Steering: Steering box and rack and pinion unit and all their internal lubricated parts including: power steering pump and cylinder, main and intermediate steering shafts and couplings, steering knuckles; pitman arm, idler arm, tie rod ends and drag link.

Sounds like I would be covered doesn't it... Well, all my wife and I got for our troubles were repeated rude customer service reps and finally threats from a DirectBuy supervisor by the name of David.

He called me in response to a fiery letter that I sent to the DBAW's customer service department. He started the conversation off by wanting to know what I had to complaint about... duh!!! He then attempted a smoke and mirrors routine that was very weak a best. In my letter to his cs I mentioned the name of the rep (Justin Miller) who had took it upon himself to simply terminate our policy and hang up in my wife's face. David the supervisor stated that his company did not employee anyone by that name even though we obtained that info from the very next rep that we spoke to. This guy had the nerve to suggest that the car was not broken because we were able to drive it into the shop. What an idiot. He further insulted my intelligence by threatening to place me under investigation and report me to his fraud department if I shared my story with potential customers.... boy was I afraid :-)

Steer clear of this company.... pun intended!!!!

    Hi Guy
DB is the one who is commiting Fraud!  No Surprise!!
Where do you live & when did you join & why do people still waste their time & energy Talking ....????
Do not be intimidated by them, they are just crazy with their ruthless tactics.   I will try to help you find the laws that apply.
You should either have a Consumer Protection Act
    OR                       Deceptive Trade Practices Act
    that deals with their Fraud
Send Registered Mail, (no signature required)   informing db that they do not have a legal right to "terminate your policy"
They do not have your written permission to terminate anything
ARE YOU REFERRING TO THE WARANTY BEING CANCELLED OR THE DB MEMBERSHIP?
SO I can hopefully help you better.

Anyone that buys from a company with a C- rating at the BBB and have only been in biz for a year or so- must not have done too much research on this. Check the stability and financials and how long the company has been in business>>too many companies will offer a low price and people that will bite on a low price, and not do the research will bite them back in the long run!

    Allan Bardman
I am Allan Bardman President of DBW. If anyone has a complaint about the services provided by DBW I would like to know about it. I would like everyone to know that all auto warranty companies deny non legitimate claims that are not covered according to the terms and conditions of their agreement. You should always read your agreement to know how to follow the steps in filing a claim as well as to know what is and what is not covered.

Guy Charles your complaint is that bottom line DBW "screwed you" on your claim with our company and outright denied it. In fact the reason your claim was denied is due to negligence. You initiated your claim with steering problems on your vehicle on 12/9/2009. On 12/28/2009 your repair facility called with a diagnosis. You had been using your vehicle since you initiated the claim which means you drove it with your steering problems for 19 days, plus you drove it to the repair facility. In the end you did not follow the guidelines of your policy that you signed stating you reviewed it and are happy with the enclosed terms. You requested to cancel and as a courtesy you were given a full refund even though you used 3 months of coverage which would normally be a prorated refund of the unused term. In your case, driving the vehicle while having problems causes more damage especially if it's the steering system. Had you taken the vehicle in right away as we notified you to, you would have no complaint against our company.

Dezma Mcphails your complaint is as well not accurate. You are correct that DBW did not cover your rack and pinion, but you failed to mention why. Seals and Gaskets are an additional coverage option which you did not add to your coverage at the time of purchase making your claim for a rack and pinion seal leaking not covered. Your rack and pinion was not bent or cracked, it was leaking from the seal. Had you added the option at the time of sale to your coverage, this would be a completely different story. In fact there would be no story as you would be happy and satisfied. This does not mean that Direct Buy Warranty "SUCKS" or is "FAKE" you just did not have the coverage for you particular issues.

Finally, John Direct Buy Warranty has a C- rating with the BBB because we do not associate with profit organizations. If we paid the BBB their high monthly fee, Direct Buy Warranty would have an A+ Rating regardless of how many consumer complaints they receive or do not receive.

    HI Allan
Can you explain how you are connected with db, are you considered a 3rd party warranty?
Would I be correct to say that db sells the cars,
& they subcontract your company to take care of the warranty?
If a member has a warranty claim, do they contact db, or contact your co.?
I would like to know, because db is "selling the warranty",
I have a feeling that it is db's aggressive, high- pressure tactics, that probably make the members' so angry, because db has an incredibly deceitful way of selling everything. They lie about everything,
that is why they have so many class-action suits vs. them in the States.

    Trudy,

DBW is not associated with any company. Direct Buy (DB) is a wholesale furniture company and has nothing do with DBW. Direct Buy Warranty sells vehicle service contracts for new or used vehicle. DB furniture company does not subcontract our company for anything. We are complete two separate entities.

Would a CEO really respond to this message board?.....LOL.  This company is so fake.  More of my story to come.  But, whatever you do STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY - Direct Buy Warranty, Direct Buy Auto Warranty, etc.  It is a SCAM and they are nothing more than a couple guys in some cubes in a small office saying they are some large company with all the sales tactics and talk tracks to sell and have any excuse to not pay.

Hi Allan,  I'm happy to meet you.  I've read all of these complaints and have a story of my own.  Maybe you can help me understand or clear this up.

On 1/4/10 as I was driving on Rt 460 in Virginia my car lost engine power and died.  I immediately called DBW and spoke to Robert.  I asked him what I should do.  He instructed me to call a local tow company and have the car towed to a local service center.  I did just that.  He also told me to submit the invoice for the tow and have the service center call with the policy number when he knew what the problem was.
Later that day the service center determined that the car had a blown Cam Position Sensor and it had to be replaced.
On 1/5/10, he replaced the part and immediately determined that the car had to be brought to a Cadillac dealer because it seemed to have more extensive engine issues and he discontinued working on it and shut it off within 10 seconds of turning over the engine for the first time after replacing the part.
The car was towed to a Cadillac dealer in Radford VA and there it was determined that the motor was blown.

After speaking to someone at DBW he was asked to check to see if the Timing chain was in tact.  It was completely blow apart and the motor was destroyed.

My husband was in contact with DBW all the while and had witnesses in his office during phones calls where he was told that DBW would cover the rapir.  However as soon as they knew the motor was blown, they quickly suggested they send us back our premium and close the account.  My husband said, "Do not do that".  The next day he was told they closed the account and were not covering the repair because there was no way to determine if the car had previous conditions that led to the blown motor.  My husband agreed to send invoices proving the car was check out completely in Dec of 08.  The person on the phone said it was not necessary because the account was closed and nothing would be done.
My car in stuck in VA and DBW is not standing by their agreement.  I have a rental car that is costing me money as I am not able to fix my car.  I am in limbo and don't know what to do next however I will be exhausting every single avenue I can possible go down and I investigate this issue completely.  I am a stay at home Mom and have plenty of time to do whatever it takes to make sure that justice is served however it must be served.
    Please advice.

I learned all of this the hard way.  I'm in limbo with my car as it has a blown motor and DBW has closed my account without our permission so they would not have to cover the repairs.  They are coming up with every single possible reason they could hoping that we are stupid enough to go away.  We aren't and won't go away.  My car will cost lots of money to repair a blown motor and I have nothing as important to do right now then make sure everyone does the right thing here and if we're been scamed, I will stop at nothing until the whole world knows about it.
By the way, one guy from DBW told my husband that us "New Yorkers will try to get away with everything".  Could you imagine a company saying that to a customer.  We also were told that our account would be closed and our premium would be sent back to us.  That's not what we wanted.  The next day when we called to talk to someone, we were told that our account was closed as per our request which I can assure you was not the case.

I agree,  Do Not Do Business with DirecBuy Warranty.  They will not stand by their agreement.  AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Hey I'm being scamed by DBW right now.
They cancelled my policy on Friday because of a claim they don't want to cover.
Please advise me what to do next.  I'm ready, willing and able to go to bat.
    See my reply to Allan.

I can't even believe I'm reading this.  The President of a Car Warranty company not knowing that sometimes you are in-fact able to drive a car when it is having steering issues?  That's bizzare.  All of us know that sometimes we are very busy with our lives and our car may not be the only thing we need to attend to for a bit.  We all know that if a car gets you from point A to point B we'll keep going until we can't any longer.  It sounds like Guy Charles was proactive and attended to the car as he should have.  Isn't that why people get car insurance, so when things go wrong the company will help you pay your bills.  Seems like you collect lots of money but find any reason and excuse not to pay out.  Not nice.

I have an issue I would like to speak to you personally on.  You can reach me at waltlogan@aol.com
