On Friday afternoon on 11-13-2009, I went to there high pressured membership meeting. They told me how much I would be saving, like 50% on furniture and so on. They didn't tell me about a 30 day membership pass.I was one of those stupid people that signed up. Over the weekend I found out that my mother from another state, was put in a home because she couldn't be taken care of at her home.  On Tuesday 11-17-2009, I called up and tried to cancel my contract, they said the person I needed to speak to is in a meeting.I called them two more times that day and every day after that telling the receptionist of my financial problems. One guy did finally call me back and said he would have to call some finance place, even after I paid for it all on 11-13-2009. I called about once a week after that, even though I knew I was getting put off. I did look on their web site about a month later and I didn't find any good deals at all, or the things I was looking for wasn't there. If you can help I would appreciate it.        Thank-you  Lloyd Lenington

This is a warning to all consumers that Direct Buy Auto Warranty is a scam outfit. They are 100% fraudulent. After taking my 2001 Mercedes to an ASE certified shop, for a covered repair, DBAW decided that they simply did not want to pay the claim. They first advised me that I had previously canceled my warranty voluntarily. I then asked them to provide me with the following two things:

#1). Anything in writing that shows that I canceled my policy

#2). A copy of the canceled check where they refunded any money back to me upon the so called cancellation.

They obviously could not provide either of these 2 documents, so they then changed their story to say that I never paid my premium. I had paid my premium in full in a single payment, and sent them the copy of my bank statement showing the money was electronically sent to Direct Buy Auto Warranty. That is the last that I have ever heard from them.

They treat their customers the worst that I have ever seen. They are completely arrogant and just don't care. I was told by their representative that us "liberals" in California are always trying to get someone else to "take care of us".

I am in the process of having this company investigated for their fraudulent business practices. They not only need to pay a lot of people back for denying covered claims, but I am working to make sure that there is also punitive damages. There is also a chance that the principals in this company could be facing some prison time.

I would like to hear from anyone that has either had a claim that they feel was wrongly denied, or has had their policy canceled because Direct Buy Auto Warranty did not want to pay the claim.

what a load of crap Valerie. standard operating procedure is to deny every claim as a preexisting condition or some other lame excuse. they are nothing but crooks. it they pay 10% of their claims I would be suprised. do you shills for the company believe the rest of us are atupid enough to believe you these croooks paid out $2700 with a smile?

ok Mr. Einstein why do you have a 30 day waiting period for a claim? What you are saying makes it possible to deny a claim regardless of the time that has passes. Two years, "Oh that transmission was bad two years ago when youy bought the service contract." The Ag should go after the whole bunch of you under RICCO.

my contract was over a year old when i made the first claim. preexisting condition they said. I call bs, went to the AG and small claims court. my claim was covered but not the way it should have been by a good company concerned for its customers.

    Gotta-A-Solution
EVERYONE!!!!!!  I may have found a solution to Direct Buy's issue with not paying claims.  Call your state agency on Licensing and Registration.  Mine told me since there were so many complaints, they were going to be very interested in my case.  They would either may Direct Buy pay for my repairs, or take them to court.  Don't mess with Texas Direct Buy!!!

I signed up with direct buy warranty a month ago and then a week later i decided to cancel as i would just stay with my current provider.  I was looking to save some money at the time being.  After several phone attempts they just kept saying how wonderful they were and tearing everyone else apart. At the end of the conversation i hung up as i could not take the loud mouth anymore, matt i think his name was.  I was told they would credit my account.  after a week what a surprise no credit, i called them again and they said i needed to sign a cancellationm form, i said interesting that was never told to me last week when i first called, another week goes by no cancellation form, at this point i filed a dispute with my cc company, and informed directbuy i did this.  They told me remove the dispute and we will send the form to you and to please fax us the doc from the issuing bank.  I did so and what a surprise, now i am told the bank needs to be the one to fax the doc over to them, it has been a cycle of mayem with these people.  They really do not know what they are doing, or they come up with their own rules and regulations, i really do believe they go out of their way to aggravate people, they are merely a bunch of uneducated morons. My last email to them was at the end of the day it is you guys who make yourselves look worse and worse, i had nothing bad to say about them until this incident, it is just a rhetoric of lies with these folks just to make you angry.

    Certified Master Mechanic
I am a ASE certified Master Mechanic and have been in the automotive business since 1977.
The above statements by the President of DBW are very misinformed. Take his statement that a steering rack is not covered, only the seals need replaced. Any actual automotive technician can tell you that when a steering rack is leaking you replace the entire steering rack. You don't just happily install new seals and go on your way. When a steering rack leaks fluid past a seal the internal metal parts are also worn and it will do little good to install new seals, even if you could. I challenge the President of DBW to find ANY reputable automotive repair facility in the USA that will install " new seals " in a power steering rack if it is leaking fluid. Yes, there may be an extremely isolated case where a mechanick might install a new seal BUT 99.9% of the time if a rack is leaking fluid, the entire rack needs rebuilt. Thus you buy an entire rebuilt steering rack from a company who specializes in complete disassembly and rebuilding of leaking steering racks.

Mr. President, perhaps you should contract with "Click and Clack" for accurate honest repair / service advice. Whoever is advising you needs to get a new job.

Clearly there is some education or information issues, or worse with the President.

Thanks for all of the comments, DBW has hounded me for weeks, dropped their price, added benefits, etc. to lure me in.  After reading all of these complaints and heartaches, I have turned them down and have saved myself future headaches.  I feel sorry for all of those who have had issues with DBW.  Good luck to all still fighting the fight.

If I could make a recommendation, never buy from a company that offers you an "extended car warranty" as this is a sure sign that the company is not reputable. The FTC ruled some time ago that firms in this business should not call their products "extended auto warranties" because what they are offering is not a warranty, as the term is defined by federal law. Any firm that is still calling its auto service contract an extended warranty is a scammer. To find a reputable firm, go here: http://www.vpanet.org/Certified-Companies These firms joined an industry trade association that defines standards of conduct for firms in this business. In addition, these firms bothered to get certified as being companies that play by the rules. Needless to say, Direct Buy is not a VPA member and does not follow the rules. As such, if you buy from them you are buying at your own risk...and you are not being a very bright consumer.

    Division
Direct Buy is complete garbage.  Purchased their top end product for a 2006 Porsche Cayenne S.  First claim was on a simple tire rod.   Well they covered just over $161.00 of a nearly $400.00 bill.  Didn't cover the alignment (necessary after a tire rod replacement) only covered a portion of the labor, and diagnosis / inspection they don't cover at all.

I even called to ask one of their reps if an alignment was covered if needed as the result of a repair and they said "YES".....they never paid for it.

And get this, turns out the rack needed fixed as well.  It was causing a bad noise every time a bump was hit and according to a certified mechanic "needs to be replaced".   Guess what...not covered.  According to their agent they only cover parts that have completely failed and as long as the car is driveable they won't cover it.  Here I thought I was being responsible and taking care of an issue before it escalated but no, flat out denied.

ON TOP OF THAT they told me that since I'm now aware of the problem they won't cover it when it does completely fail!  What kind of BS is that?  Am I supposed to play ignorant?  I can just see this hypothetical scenario happening:

Me:  "Yea my motor blew.  I have all maintenance records, service, etc., all up to date and the car was pampered.  Even sung a song to it every night so it felt like part of the family."
DB:  "Are you aware the motor blew?"
Me:  "Um yea, it exploded into a million pieces on the highway just driving normal and I have shrapnel wounds to prove it."
DB:  "Well we don't cover issues you're aware of so claim denied."
    Me:  "Da Fuq?"

Seriously to anyone considering a Direct Buy warranty under no circumstances purchase one.  Even on high end, documented, religiously serviced luxury car they will not cover you!

I was able to cancel and get most of my money back, but they still made a couple hundred off me.  To any Direct Buy goons out there, don't belive it?  VSC#958XXX and look up the car model.

I just placed my 1st claim with Direct Buy and it was denied because the electrical system is not covered. Now I know when I purchased this warranty I was told by their sales rep, Chris, that I had nothing to worry about.well if there's nothing to worry about why was my claim denied????? The employees are rude and condescending and that's just for starters. Since no one at the company would provide me with name of the company president maybe one of you might know who he is, I 'd really appreciate it. I do plan of complaining to the BBB, the Attorney General and I will post it anywhere on Facebook that I can. Word of mouth can be a blessing or a thorn in their side and this is a thorn !
