On Friday afternoon on 11-13-2009, I went to there high pressured membership meeting. They told me how much I would be saving, like 50% on furniture and so on. They didn't tell me about a 30 day membership pass.I was one of those stupid people that signed up. Over the weekend I found out that my mother from another state, was put in a home because she couldn't be taken care of at her home.  On Tuesday 11-17-2009, I called up and tried to cancel my contract, they said the person I needed to speak to is in a meeting.I called them two more times that day and every day after that telling the receptionist of my financial problems. One guy did finally call me back and said he would have to call some finance place, even after I paid for it all on 11-13-2009. I called about once a week after that, even though I knew I was getting put off. I did look on their web site about a month later and I didn't find any good deals at all, or the things I was looking for wasn't there. If you can help I would appreciate it.        Thank-you  Lloyd Lenington

    Mr. Bardman,

I'd really like to know the truth with your company's difficulty in following through on your promises. I understand your business is to cover claims for covered items through your warranty, but understand it from a consumer's prospective. This is a promise to pay. If average everday consumers knew everything to know about vehicles and their components, then we wouldn't need mechanics so much, right? We trust in the mechanics to be truthful and tell us accurately what is wrong and we trust in warranty companies to follow through as well. I am appaled at the things I have read. I have received a quote from Direct Buy and it actually was very reasonable. What is not reasonable is the amount of dissatisfied customers you have.  I don't feel comfortable now spending my hard-earned money on a waste of time. I would like to spend my money with a company who doesn't have so many disgruntled, dissatisfied customers.

This company is a joke, a rip off!!! I just bought my car with 69000 miles from a reputable dealership.  2 months later I am having problems with my car wanting to start. So as a good car owner I notified Direct Buy Warranty & made an appointment with the mechanic.  The found 2 things wrong with my car one is my fuel pump the other a gasket issue with the intake.  Even though my contract reads it covers gaskets and fuel pump, Direct wills not pay for any of that. They have stated they don’t  cover intermittent issues and that I should have waited till it broke down, now I am responsible for fixing it. As for the gaskets well yes the are cover under my policy but only up to 30,000 miles, the catch is they sold me a policy that this not applicable to my car ,I signed up with them at 69,000. If you look at the contract they send you it worded so carefully to limit their liability.
Please also be aware the customer service is the WORST I have ever had to deal with.  I think that these guys are trained to be mean and rude and unhelpful.  On several occasions I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told they don’t have a supervisor.  After several attempts to get a supervisor I was transferred to a voicemail of someone by the name of Chuck.  I have left several calls trying to resolve this and have NEVER received a call back.
SAVE YOUR MONEY DONT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I am out to recoup my $450 they have taken from me.   I will be reporting them to the BBB the Attorney General of California & New Jersey.

Your team is mean and horrible.

You cancel my mother contract illegally according to the contract you sent her. Your company sold her a policy that does not apply to her car based on the laws & mileage on her car here in California.

You customer service team make it impossible to talk to a supervisor or manager.

I am sorry that I encouraged my mother to use this company and take her for her money.

What this company does is on the verge of illegal but you are able to hide behind a very carefully worded contract.

The really sad thing is you prey on the middle class to poor class of society promising that this by investing your money in this Service Contract you are guaranty peace of mine and you pull the rug out if and when a claim comes up. Then you rely on the fact this if this was a wealthy class person that they would have gotten there warranty through the dealership.  You should be ashamed of how you represent and I can't wait till this company get indicted for this practice!

DirectBuy Auto warranty is one of the scummiest company on earth. Their customer service (Jake, Jack, Eric … ) are all liars! Do not waste your money with this company. They will gladly take your money but will not pay a dime when you take your car in for a repair.

I can not agree more with the statements from above.  I bought a used truck from a dealership in October 2010 and shopped around for several weeks looking for a warranty company with good reviews.  I must have been looking in the wrong places because I was deceived.  I bought the policy in early December and paid up front for 5 years.  This past Monday my truck stalls out and a puff of white smoke comes from the exhaust.  I called DBW immediately to ask what I should do (because the contract says to inform them immediately) and they told me to drive it to a shop and get it checked out.  That afternoon, the shop calls me to say they got an authorization to begin work and I am please because I thought I dodged all of the horror stories about businesses like this.  The next day, the shop (NOT DBW) called me back to say DBW is now denying the claim.  I spoke with several different people in their call center and they all say there is nothing more they can do and the case is closed.
I have e-mailed this Allan Bardman who claims to be the president but have received no reply.

I would really like to thank everyone for expressing their unhappiness with Direct Buy Warranty.  I was thinking of purchasing a warranty plan just today.  I sure am glad I did my homework first.  The salesman was a little pushy, but I explained I dont make any decisions without checking things out.  5 yrs/ 130,000 mile warranty with no deductable on a diesel truck that already has 97,000 miles on it for only $1750. This also includes a $500 gas card. WOW!!!!! He said I could use gas card after 1 yr of being a customer.  Lie #1.  The website shows you can use it after the expiration of your contract term, which means 5 yrs.  If you sell the vehicle or just cancel, it is null and void.  If you can catch them in one lie, then there are more to come, so RUN!!!!  I will be calling Kirk Moore back in the morning to express just how I feel about this.  I know he needs a job, but screwing people will get a chewing from me no matter who you are.  Maybe I can drill some "morals" into him? I am dealing with a timeshare called BlueGreen Resorts in Florida that suckered me into signing before I checked them out.  I learned the hard way and still fighting them going on 5 yrs now.  I am not one to give up.  I will post more tomorrow if Mr Moore gives me any crap.  Good luck to you all that got trapped.  God Bless America along with the Farmers and Ranchers!!!!!

I've got a hypothetical question for you. Ok Allan say your vehicle dies in the middle of the road with a stuck thermastate and warps the heads. This could damage the motor by pouring coolant in to the oil, Right. Would you agree?  My point is not everything happens out of neglect, it just happens. I myself am a certified technician and find that even a timing chain can break with all the proper maintenance completed.
When people invest their money into this they seek piece of mind not a endless loop of "BS".
Remember this ALLAN, "A Chain is only as strong as it's weakest link."
    Good Day

I also would really like to thank everyone for taking the time to write about their experience with Direct Buy Warranty.  I was thinking of purchasing a warranty plan yesterday.  The hard sell special deal good for today only salesman raised a red flag.  So, I did my research.  I was already leary of extended warranty companies who take your money and then file brankruptcy or disappear without a trace.  It seems like Direct Buy is another one.  Caveat Emptor. Buyer Beware.   Another sale lost for Direct Buy Warranty.

Thats simply not true.. All after-market warranty companies have a 30 day black-out to insure them from preexisting problems... this same period is for the consumer to request a refund.  Its so hard to find valid complaints out here while I do research for the best deal.. because its either people that don't pay attention to the terms of the contract or just want to complain even knowing they don't have a valid claim against the company.  I would love to see some dialog w/ actual contract and claim #'s.. its obvious these companies monitor these complaint boards.  I am looking to to buy at least one Platinum Elite Policy from these folks.. 2 weeks ago I purchase a full xtra care from warranty direct.. and in 2002 I used this same company and they were absolutely great to work with.  However, Direct Buy Auto Warranty is $1000 less for the same coverage.  I paid 2788 for a 2005 Dodge Durango Policy..

Sounds like a scammer scamming a scammer to me.. you actually confess to having the problem within the 30 black out period, but wait to submit so you can get it covered.. and you wonder why they won't cover it.. KARMA my friend.
