Defective Lid
Complaint

I purchased a Whirlpool Cabrio (Mod: Wtw7800x, Ser: c02470238) in March 2011. About a year ago the lid broke. This was replaced as it was under warranty. It is broken again. Same problem, the hinge on the right side cracked. The serviceman said the lid was defective, … again. This part costs $240.
Whirlpool Service, Bingaman ID # 3695, just told me Whirlpool would not stand behind their defective parts because I am out of warranty. While this may be legal, I find this behavior inappropriate. Whirlpool can charge exurbanite fees and not stand behind their overpriced defective parts.
Service made it sound like extended warranty was part of the price. Whirlpool can charge anything for their parts and quality is not considered. I have to wonder if building defective machines is part of Whirlpool’s business plan. I’m not going to buy from a company who believes this is an appropriate business ethic.
