I am being harrassed continuouly from 347-927-0838 and 347-287-6498. They say they are a law firm are trying to collect money for a payday loan I owe, yet they are not providing me with any proof that I owe this. One person told me it was USCash, I called them and they told me these people are scam artists and they receive numerous call everyday. These people are foreign and I can't hardly understand them, they are rude and I am not going to pay something I have no proof of.

I received a call from ACLS also.  They said I was laundering money overseas and that I had an unpaid loan.  I was told the FBI is picking me up at work tomorrow.  Really, if the FBI is involved it must be a substantial amount of money I have.  Surely, with that information and the amount of money I supposedly stole then I would skip out of the country before morning.  Unfortunately, it isn't true. I only have $5 in my bank account and my broke a** is stuck here in freezing cold PA. If they give me over 12 hours notice maybe I should consider this and head to a warm island.

You are dealing with a phony "payday loan debt collection" extortion racket.  A number of criminals, both in the U.S. and overseas, have found that they can extort money out of U.S. consumers by making threats and accusations on the phone.  Some of these are reported to be calling from India or Pakistan, using cheap VoIP, and with thick accents.

You do NOT owe them ANY "debt", even if you might owe some payday loan.

They are not "attorneys", "a law firm", "prosecutors", "investigators", "law enforcement" of any kind, etc.

They are just criminals trying to con people, making up ridiculous claims and making outragous threats.  The names of their "organizations" are laughable, and their legal gibberish is equally so.

I am received calls from them too.  I say don't fret about it.  They called me back in October and said that I owed over $2000 in pay day loans, when i asked for documentation, they sent me a form a 5 year old could have created in Word.  I called them back and informed them that I didn't have a loan in this amount.  They proceeded to call and threaten me and call me names, this went on for two days.  Then I received a call saying "Oops that wasn't you, you have a loan for $545 and that if I didn't make a payment to pay today then I would be arrested.  Needless to say i'm still waiting on that arrest.  They called me today with a new loan amount and recounted to me that I called them scam artists.  I told them i wouldn't pay and they said they were issuing an arrest warrant on Friday so that I would be in jail for Christmas. Oh! they also informed me that upon the warrant being issued I'd have to take a flight to California to turn myself in.  PLEASE DON'T FALL FOR THIS!

These people harrassed me at work and on my cell phone for months... stating that I had a debt of $710. When I ask them their  name they say it's ACL Law Firm but won't tell me who they represent. They told me I owed them money from a "tranfer" that didn't go through in my bank account on a specific date. Called my bank... nothing. Checked my online banking... nothing. They too told me that I would be arrested for FRAUD, and crimes in my state but they were able to tell me my SS#, street address, phone number, employer, and way too much information. When I told them that my records show nothing ALICE JONES (Funny how American they suddenly sound) said "Are you willing to stand up and prove that in a court of law?"... Yeah.... are you willing to fly here from Depressistan to sue me [***]? [***] these people.

    FRUSTRATED
I am getting the phone calls too. I called the Attorney General and the Federal Trade Commission. I am from Nebraska. This is getting way out of hand. They called my employment 5or6 times today. It is the same as I have seen posted. That I owe a pay-day loan. Do Not send any money or don't let them scare you that will issue a warrant. The lady at the Federal Trade Commission did confirm that it is a scam. She said the best thing is to keep hanging up on them, but when you aren't the one that answers the phone, it makes it really hard. She told me to make sure that your Human Resources knows that it is a scam. I was also told that thy are from other countries.

"They called my employment 5or6 times today."

They are apparently getting access to credit report or skip-trace information, which they use to harass or fake phony "debts".  Harassment at work is commonly reported in connection with this type of scam.

    "That I owe a pay-day loan. "

You don't.  Even if you did, you wouldn't owe it to these losers.

"She told me to make sure that your Human Resources knows that it is a scam. "

This is important.  They aren't targeting you because of anything you did.  They just got some information on you, including your employer, and they use it to extort through harassment.  Other employees could be similarly targeted, and your employer should make all employees aware of this scam and be sure that receptionists are trained how to handle this.

"I was also told that thy are from other countries."]

That is generally the case with this type of scam, particularly if they have thick accents, or claim to be with strange "law enforcement" agencies you never heard of, or use strange ridiculous legal gibberish.

They can't carry out their threats.

ALCS or whatever these guys call themselves just called the front desk at my job. I work at a private Yacht Club, they asked for one of the employees and as soon as they said "We work under the F.B.I", I said "You're from the F.B.I"? My boss and I started laughing at the thought. Well, this guy (who had an accent) was NOT happy. "Whats so funny?!?!" He said. So I said, "you know, your calling her JOB, we don't deal with phone calls like this it's not our responsibility. She isn't at work today and you're not getting her schedule." All I heard was CLICK! A**holes. Can't the REAL FBI figure out who these people are? Hypothetically if they found them, could they even arrest if they're in another country?

I am also getting these calls and they just won't stop. They have called me at work and at home and on my cell.  I guess my next step is to contact the Federal Trade commission.

I too received a call from them today and then called my attorney and told them to give them a call.  I haven't heard from them since.  I do not owe a payday loan company and told them if they call my job again I will personally have my corporate security called them. I then kept calling the same guy back like he was calling me and he cursed me out and told me to stop calling.  I called him like he was calling me and then this became really funny to me.

I received a call from these guys at my place of business this morning!  When I returned their call they stated that I applied for a $300 cash advance loan that has been defaulted on.  He tried to verify my information and I told hhim that it was all incorrect.  I then asked them to stop calling and pretended to be my attorney on 7 or 8 calls back to him!  On the last call, he asked me was I calling from my attorneys office "Johnson and Johnson" (LMAO), and placed me on hold.  I have been on hold now for 5 minutes! I promise you all that I will continue to harrass these folks just like they have been me!  it's going to be tons of fun!  Join me!  Their number is 813-454-0110.  His name is Kevin Anderson and Kevin Black!  It's funny because he sounds like he's from India!!!  Let's have fun with these people!  GO STEELERS!!!!

These phony "payday loan debt collector" crooks are often reported to have obtained access to U.S. consumer identity, credit, and employer information, which they use in their extortion racket.  They commonly use employer information to harass and abuse their targets, making threats that they will cost you your job if you don't pay them off.

There is no "payday loan".  It's all fake.  Even if you had some payday loan you owed, you wouldn't owe it to these crooks.  It's a con, a scam, an extortion racket, nothing more.  The threats are all fake, too.  They aren't "attorneys", law enforcement, "court officials", "investigators", or anything else, just crooks, probably calling from overseas, most likely India.  If you pay them once, you can count on them coming back for more.

I have yet to see reports of them using their information for anything but this extortion racket, but you might put a fraud alert on your credit reports.

Although some complaints indicate they may be getting some of this information from applications on phony on-line "payday loan" sites, many other similar complaints suggest that these scams may actually have access to credit reports or skip-trace services.

Some of this started with a chain of payday lenders and debt collectors out of Florida several years ago.  One of them in the Jacksonville area, Ellis Crosby, was shut down by the Florida Attorney General for abusive and threatening debt collection, but they also had an Indian call center.

You might try pulling your credit reports to see if there is some recent credit inquiry that might point to a phony company pulling reports.
