Seriously this is ridiculous...I logged onto my bank account and saw the charge for 39.95 from ANC.ARCHIVES.COM and I had no clue what it was and know the only automatic charges I have are for vet insurance and a gym membership, so I have to wait to dispute the charge to my bank because I like y'all have  never authorized this or heard of it either!!! How the heck does this stuff happen?!?

Just got off the phone disputing a fraudulent billing on my cabela's card for 39.95. I am disputing this billing from ANC.ARCHIVES. Why would a whiteman be asking the ANC (AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS) about his family tree? This is a scam which i no doubt suspect that many people overlook and just pay the new balance of their bill while overlooking the details. Since this is in dispute, no payment by me shall occur.

"ANC" has nothing to do with "African National Congress".  It is Ancestry.com

        ANC* Archives.com is indeed fraudulent.
the full name is ANC*Archives.com and has nothing at all to do with Ancestry.com which is a legal site!

Actually, I called the number on my visa statement and it IS ancestry.com(it comes up on my stmt. as ANC*ancestry.com, which they said is correct).  What happened is that someone must have used a device to read my card in my wallet and used an old zip code to search someone on ancestry.com.  To my understanding, the perp would wait to see if that charge went through to make sure the card was good.  Then they could charge more stuff.  Also, what some ppl fail to realize is that if they signed up for ancestry.com in the past, they authorized an automatic renewal for a yearly membership.  Mine was only $7.95 for the monthly, but the yearly is for the $69 or whatever.

I am having the same problem. That same amount is being taken out of our checking account. I did use a free trial and that is what got me into trouble. I guess I won't do that again. Now I need to fix this. It's been since April. I'm irritated and frustrated because I can't get anyone on the phone to stop this.

It's actually Archives.com and it's not the "African National Congress" or whatever other people are calling it.  It says on Archive's help center that it shows up on your bank statement as ANC.archives.com.

How will the Archives.com membership charge appear on my bank statement?
Membership payment will appear on your bank statement as "ANC*Archives.com" along with our toll-free customer support number.

Due to my husband's cheating, I know this charge is for a monthly fee for a hookup site.  I'm having a hard time getting it stopped.  They use the archives.com so that any other member of the household will think it is a legitimate charge and not know that it is for a cheating or porn site.  In my case, my hubby stupidly signed up for Fling.com because it stated right on the signup page that the charge would be an inconspicuous name so the significant other wouldn't catch on.  Unfortunately for him, I was a little wiser and smart on him and figured out what he did almost right away.  I tried canceling it, but it only gave him 3 more months of a free trial and started billing again.  aaarrgghh!!

Not likely. This is ancestry.com not a hookup site.

Dispute it with your bank ASAP. Explain to them that the company is a scam outfit.
According to my bank they have people walking around with scanners that can read ALL of your debit or credit cards.
The only way to stop them is to use an aluminum wallet or container for your cards.

Dispute it with your bank ASAP and explain that it is a scam outfit.
They have people walking around with scanners that can read all of your cards by just walking past you.
You need to keep your cards in an aluminum wallet or container. It will block their scanners.
But since they have your card number you will need to get a new card from your bank so they cannot charge you again and again. They will keep trying to get money from your account as long as they have the number of your current and valid card.
