I received a call from an Indian accent man named Patrick Smith telling me that I have been selected for a good citize grant of 7,000. He said that the government pick 2,000 people to good  citizens who don't have a felony. He asked me what would I use the money for so I told him i'm going to pay my rent and put some money on my car. This man, told me I can't use it on alcohol  or gambling. I told him did you hear what I was using the money for? Did I say anything about gambling or alcohol? The man was quite, so he went on about do I have a bank account I told him no then he ask do I have a credit card so the money can go on it, I said no so then he asked if I was near a western union so I can pick up the money I said yes I know where one is. Then he told me that I need $250.00 a one time transaction fee and the money will go to the red cross. So I told him I don't have the money so he said get it from somebody and when you do call this number and give them your confirmation number which he had gave me. I look up the address he gave me click on a link and it said fraud alert call this number and report it and that's what I did. so the next day so call Patrick Smith from Indian with an American name call me back and asked me did I call and setup my account so I can get my money I told him no this is a fraud he told me no it's not he gave me what he call his I.D. Number. So he gave me a 202 number to call and ask for Jennifer Lopez can yall believe that!!!!!!!!!! I ask him how are you in Washington but calling me from a New York number? He couldn't answer. After I got off the phone with him I tried to call the number he call me from back and it says this is not a working number. Just be careful with things like this. Tell your family and friends about this scam and if your not sure about it look it up. Thank you for reading my story.

I had the same thing happen. Someone claiming that I get a $9,000 grant with the same stipulations as above. He mentioned that it would come from the Federal New York Reserve Bank and that he was calling from Washington D.C. My phone showed that it was a Florida number, and when I asked why he claimed to be in Washington D.C. when the number was in Florida, he immediately hung up. What a scam!

Literally just had it happen. I told him, "Oh great! Since you're with the government, you know where I live and my bank account numbers. Just go ahead and wire the funds in there and ill talk to you later!" Then I proceeded to hang up. No your name is not roger, it is more like rahj...

Got a call from +17022185233 pushing the same scam. They asked me for my checking account number, but hung up on me after I gave them a 100 digit account number.

Just got the same pitch from 7022189953. I asked her if she really is from the federal government and she knows I don't have a criminal record, then what is my name? She just kept repeating that she had grant money for me.

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday, I received a call from a 202-697-9655. I asked the young lady, whose name was Caroline, " if I was selected, what's my name" she couldn't answer. So I told her this is a scam, she said "Sir, I can't afford to lose my job over $210". I hung up after that.

    Same!
I just got a call from (202) 559-7624 claiming that I was selected for a grant for $7,500. She said I was selected because a few months ago I answered a democratic survey and for being a good citizen lol She said she was from the US grant department in Washington. I was told to go to Western Credit Union to receive the money but that I needed to bring $280 in cash for a security deposit and call her before I go inside....Had a heavy Indian accent and claimed her name was Alisha Jones...SCAM!

Got the $9000 offer. I simply said that I don't trust this and asked if I could just have a check mailed to me. Not surprisingly, they hung up. The phone number was 202.779.8838.

Just had the same thing happen to me. I pressed the girl for her name, Amy Smith. I was instructed to call within 45 minutes. I asked why the urgency and why if it was government grant they wouldn't send a check. She said I could call the number she gave me to verify the information. I told her the number she was giving me was not the official number for the Government Grant office. She got nervous and kept saying to call and verify. I resisted, then she said go to the office. She knew I was in Texas so how could I go to Washington D.C.??!!!  I pressured her for her number in case I needed to talk again to her and she said she couldn't... finally she said this was a computer number and only dialed outbound and did not receive incoming calls. Some setup for a government office, huh? She hung up after that.

I wish I read this sooner. I received the same call from DC 2026663431. I fell for it and paid $212 then they said I would be called back. They called back from NY 6462170277 saying they calling from the Federal reserve. Once again I got pulled into paying another fee of $499. Finally, I'm expect to receive my money but was told I would be called back. I got called back and was told there was a problem with the transaction and that they would have to send the money through Western Union but I would have to send another $850. I'm taking the loss at this point. I hope this helps, I'm financially unstable due to this SCAM...
