I received a call from an Indian accent man named Patrick Smith telling me that I have been selected for a good citize grant of 7,000. He said that the government pick 2,000 people to good  citizens who don't have a felony. He asked me what would I use the money for so I told him i'm going to pay my rent and put some money on my car. This man, told me I can't use it on alcohol  or gambling. I told him did you hear what I was using the money for? Did I say anything about gambling or alcohol? The man was quite, so he went on about do I have a bank account I told him no then he ask do I have a credit card so the money can go on it, I said no so then he asked if I was near a western union so I can pick up the money I said yes I know where one is. Then he told me that I need $250.00 a one time transaction fee and the money will go to the red cross. So I told him I don't have the money so he said get it from somebody and when you do call this number and give them your confirmation number which he had gave me. I look up the address he gave me click on a link and it said fraud alert call this number and report it and that's what I did. so the next day so call Patrick Smith from Indian with an American name call me back and asked me did I call and setup my account so I can get my money I told him no this is a fraud he told me no it's not he gave me what he call his I.D. Number. So he gave me a 202 number to call and ask for Jennifer Lopez can yall believe that!!!!!!!!!! I ask him how are you in Washington but calling me from a New York number? He couldn't answer. After I got off the phone with him I tried to call the number he call me from back and it says this is not a working number. Just be careful with things like this. Tell your family and friends about this scam and if your not sure about it look it up. Thank you for reading my story.

I also just received a phone call from the "United States Govt" and I have been selected for a good citizens award of $9000.00 that this money comes only once in a lifetime and that I must not squander it and the best part is that this money is not taxable, all they needed was my bank acct # or a Walmart card # and I would have my $9000.00 within 45 minutes deposited into my acct.  The number showed up on my cell phone as 153208. Needless to say I hung up on these scam artists. Please warn your loveones that these calls are an attempt to clean you out.

This just happened to me as well. A middle eastern sounding guy called saying that I was 1 of 1500 people chosen to receive a God Citizens grant since I had always paid taxes on time. I immeditately thought SCAM but said I would hear him out.  He asked for my account number and routing number and said the $9000 would be provided within 40 minutes after I called another number to speak with Kimberly Stolck (account mgr) at 202-470-6662.  Still thinking it was a scam but possibly that by some slim chance it could be true, I gave the account information since this account had just been opened a week ago and there was no real money in it or direct deposits tied to it.  The man gave me a transcation id/confirmation # MM212 and said to call Kimberly and give her this number.  I called and Kimberly answered the phone and confirmed the information previously provided to the guy.  THEN, she stated that the money would be delivered via bank wire and there was a $250 fee to accept.  I asked why couldn't the fee be pulled from the $9000 but she said this was not an option.  I told her that I was not paying any money for this and she said "Ok, we will not force you" and immeditately hung up.  Please pass this along.  I was literally doing a google search for this while on the phone with the lady and so glad this came up.

Like all those above, I received a call today from a person with an Indian accent. The same sale: $7000 grant tax free to use as I wanted except not for drugs , alcohol or gambling. Gave me a confirmation number to call back 202-738-1655. When I called it sounded like the same backroom as the first caller. I needed to go to a Walmart store for a money gram, but first call them back on my cell and bring a refundable $310 processing fee. He seemed in a hurry that I go do this.
Tried calling my US Senator to check on validity of such a program  Schumer was not in office. So I went to the internet and found this site which confirmed my suspicions.

I Just want to thank the people who have commented on this, I see the majority of you are American, it is pathetic that they are attempting the same stupid scams in the UK. However your experiences confirmed my strong suspicions that this was a scam and therefore prevented me from making any mistake and so I'd like to thank you for sharing your experiences so myself and others like me do not make a mistake.

So if you are contacted by a gentleman or woman from India, who claims that you are an exceptional citizen, one of the 2000 that the government select yearly who has a good relationship with the government, pays taxes and bills on time and is not bankrupt with a criminal record then hang up the phone and don't waste your time.

Phone# 202-738-151 (?!?!?!!!) has been calling me for the past few weeks and I finally picked up yesterday afternoon. He repeatedly asked for me to confirm my name and who I was but I was persistent in knowing why he was calling me. I knew it was a scam because he told me I was going to get rewarded $7000 that I won't have to owe back to the government. When I told him to stop calling me, he told me "I'm going to f*ck you so bad!" I told him again to stop calling me as he continued to shout in the background. That's when I hung up the phone.

the number 202-470-6662 called me and said that I was a chosen person that has been a good citizen for paying taxes on time and things like that. they said that the US government would like to give me $9840 from Western Union bank. I definitely knew that this was some sort of scan. they explained that I couldn't use the money for anything bad like gambling and drugs which I said I would have used it to pay medical bills. they requested that I sent $220 to them to receive the money that they would put on a green dot card. I just asked for it to be in check form and to send it to my address that they should have if they are the US government. anyways, I just kept asking questions to hear the little speech they prepared and then promptly hung up. if this number calls you please don't give them any information since it's very likely that this is a scam

Yes I just received the call. Very heavy accents for sure. Said I would be getting 7200 in gov money. Ok great send it to my house. Thank u. Oh they said they could not sent it because there r too many people with the same name.  Told me to get a green pack card and put 200 on it to activate card. I said sure I will than give u the numbers so u can take it out. Scam. They got mad and said they would give my money to charity.  They were so pushy about getting it done fast. Thought I too would have  fun. Told Linda smith oh and Kevin smith  they r all smiths lol. Anyway told him I would hurry and get the card and put 500 on to activate it. He was very happy. Ok than I went to dinner. He called my daughter when I was gone and she told him that this person hasn't lived here in ten years. He got mad and told her he just talked to her . They were so bad at their scam. So obvious. Fools. Stay in India
