Thom Mcan Shoes from K-Mart

I purchased a pair of Thom Mcan shoes from my local K-mart last week. This is the first pair of Thom Mcan that I have ever purchased. I wore the shoes two days last week and two or three days this week. I looked at the heel of the shoe today and it is coming apart from the actual shoe.

I paid $24.99 for this pair of casual work shoes and did not expect to only be able to wear them a couple of times. I would expect that buying a pair of "off brand" shoes at Payless, but not a pair of Thom Mcan's. I have heard so many positive things about the shoes and how comfortable they are, which I do agree with the comfort, but am disappointed in the make.

I do not know if maybe I received an "abnormal" pair or is this what is to be expected from your company. I would appreciate any assistance in this matter.

When I was growing up Tom Mcan shoes were one of the best shoes you could buy. I bought a pair at Xmas at k marts and thought they were great, however, after wearing only a handful of times, they started to fall apart. They still look new, but the sole is coming off the shoe. I had been buying the same style loafer for the same money at J C Penny's. jC Penneys loafers lasted for years. For $35. A pair I'm going back to JC Penneys. Never again will buy Thom Mccan shoes, even after loving them for over 50 years.

I had been buying cheap shoes at Walmart, that would last about 3 months. Those started to only last about 1-2 months, so tried the, I thought, better Tom Mcan shoe at Kmart. Tom Mcan used to be a good product, not so, any more. If these had lasted over 6 months I would have been satisfied, but after about 3 months, the soles on both shoes, split completly across, and completely through. Can you say "wet feet"? Where can you find a good pair of shoes? I would be happy to pay in the $100 range for a good pair, but all I can find are made in China, and I don't trust them to last $100 worth.

My Dad bought a pair & same as other people they fall apart in less than a week.  (and since he didn't save the receipt no exchange or $$ back)!!  Shoes should NOT fall apart that quickly!   NO more Thom Mcan shoes for him !!

A few years ago, I bought a pair of the Thom McAn black leather step-in shoes, Style #21213, from K-Mart, Baltimore, MD.

This year, they had what looked like the same style advertised in brown.  When I went to the store to try on the shoe, the toe part of the shoe was shorter and narrower and did not fit the same.

When they make the same style, why can't they make it the same way as the previous one?

When I was in junior high and high school Thom McCann was a stand alone store and you were no one unless you wore their shoes.
It's been 30 years and they might be sold now from Kmart but they still are the best shoes to be had.
    I still exclusively wear them.
Maybe you just got a bad pair of shoes.
Go back to the store, and talk to a manager. I'm sure they'll help you.

I just purchased a pair of Tom McAn sandals with Velcro straps... when I got home with my size 12 (one size larger than my 11 1/2 D- use this when buying sandals other than TomMcAn) the straps will not even come close to crossing over to attach.. Even at the larger size the straps are a full 1" from even getting near the Velcro and you need to overlap velcro at least an inch... They are completely unusable.. $18.99 down the tube for trying to keep K-Mart from folding to Wal-Mart....   Guess K-Mart is a loss cause.

I have been purchasing Thom McCann shoes from K Mart for 20 plus years. Now I cannot find my shoe size,  a 6 1/2 wide. What happened??? Is this discrimination too the people that have small wide feet!!! I like their brand of shoes.

I bought a pair of  Tom McAn Koltrain work shoes in July, wore them two or three times. The leather on the toes is  peeling off. I paid 34.99. That is not expensive, but it is not cheap. what are we to do ? I have worn these shoes before and didn't have these problems. Would appreciate  a response. Thank you..

As others have stated, Thom McAn used to be a quality, American made shoe (which had its own chain of stores), but like virtually every other consumer product in the last decade, is now being made cheaply by poorly paid Chinese labor.
And the brand is now sold at Kmart - a retailer that has been hurting since being acquired by Sears, the once-great company that is now being sorely mismanaged.  Many Sears and Kmart stores have been shut down, and others that remain open have fallen into disrepair.

Crazy..I love my shoes so much, I bought another pair the same ones after both soles split right in half, and this new pair done the same thing!  Its the design in the sole where it cracks both time in same place both shoes!  I am going to grab another pair, but I am going to show them this time!  bad design for sure.  the first time, I was walking on ice with them, and thought the ice made them crack!  This time, its just a nice fall day, and I could feel the dampness coming thru, and yep same thing!!!!  I'll let you know what Kmart says.
