Get an attorney and look into both FDCPA, and TCPA.  Both allow for attorney fees if you prevail, so you may find an attorney willing to take a case on contingency.

Continuing to attempt to collecting on a debt you have already shown has been paid is "misrepresenting the legal status of the debt".

Calling you on such a debt after you have told them to cease calling is harassment.

Calling your cellphone without permission is a violation of TCPA.
Any autodialed calls to your cellphone are also violations.

They have already shown they will ignore any amount of proof you don't owe the debt.  Make them pay for it.

Nuts to everyone squeaking and squaking about Terminator's identification of the bottom scummers. It may be that Terinator has done some research into the debt buying racket and has made a correlation between "race" and promotion of this type of activity. At any rate, the name calling addressed to terminator is inappropriate.  If he is a "racist," your'e a fascist.

I am NOT a Jew, but I still liked and supported Barry Goldwater, and listen to Dr. Michael Savage. I appreciate the position you took on Terminator's post -- and the absence of caterwauling and mudslinging. I respect that demonstration of civility. I can appreaciate an individual who is disturbed by the actions of "these" peole irrspstive of race, religion, or ethnicity.

True, but it helps alert others, and maybe movtivates others to sweep out the scum. Always try to keep these jokers on a line as long as possible. They like to take a dominating position -- especially the female callers. I received a call stating a somebody that sounded like a young man regarding what he said was a book club "debt". I asked him what "book club," and he said it could be any book club, and started naming some possible book clubs, but he didn't know what "book club" he claimed I owed. At that point I told him thanks for calling.  A week later a female type called. These people should always state their name, who they are representing and why they are calling. If they get smarty instead of responsive, tell whose rump they can shove it up.

"I asked him what "book club," and he said it could be any book club, "

That goes beyond some sloppy identification error, to being basically a "debt collection" phishing scam.  They are looking for YOU to fill in some possible old account, so they can claim that is the one you owe them.

There are numerous complaints against NRA indicating they are attempting to collect on alleged book or music club accounts from people who claim they never had such an account.  They appear to be attempting to match old account information with anyone of a similar name they can find, but they are also reported to post these erroneously identified debts onto credit reports.

Your complaint indicates a deliberate attempt to use these small value alleged debts to con unrelated consumers into paying unowed money.

Legitimate debt collectors collecting on real debts, even from the wrong person, or even if there were errors, would have and provide actual account information, such as the original creditor and approximate time from when the account was opened.

Failing to have such information, or withholding it to deny consumers information that would indicate they don't owe it, indicates an attempt to deceive consumers into paying money not owed.

    That is fraud.

These are obviously phone scammers trying to get money they're not entitled to using almost every underhanded tactic in the book.  The whole debt collection industry needs to be put out of business for good.  How can anyone really know if they pay money to a debt collector really know that the debt to the original creditor has really been paid off.  Then there's too much potential for abuses like what is happening here.  It's too just easy for these collection agencies to claim a debt exists where none exists at all and then use high pressure tactics over the phone to manipulate people out of their money and even personal information.  Shut them all down!

My advice to you all is to check and make sure that these parasites did not put a negative remark on your credit report.  When I called the PA Atty. Gen.'s Office they suggested that I do this.  There are links to do this on their web page.  When I asked these 'parasites' to send me a letter in writing they said they did 3 months ago, but I never got it.  I requested that they send it to me certified as well as a copy of anything I actually signed.  The girl on the phone got very defensive, and even more so when I mentioned the PA Atty Gen.

"When I called the PA Atty. Gen.'s Office they suggested that I do this. "

Numerous complaints indicate that they often attempt to collect from the wrong person, "erroneously" damaging their credit.  It appears the PA Attorney General is already aware of this.

"When I asked these 'parasites' to send me a letter in writing they said they did 3 months ago, but I never got it."

Probably a lie as part of an attempt to evade your attempt at obtaining validation (proof) of the debt.  However, to invoke the FDCPA prohibition against collection until they provide validation, you must request it in writing within 30 days of YOUR RECEIPT of their letter.  If you never got it, (whether because they never sent it, because they sent it somewhere else, or whatever), you may still take advantage of this section of FDCPA.  Failure to dispute does NOT mean the debt is owed.

" The girl on the phone got very defensive, and even more so when I mentioned the PA Atty Gen."

Additional indication the PA AG knows what they are up to.  They must be getting a bunch of other complaints.  This is also likely since their rate of federal lawsuits is rising rapidly in the last year.

And when they call and harass even though they have the wrong number?  No, these are the people who are the scum of the earth, not those who are in debt!

They don't like calls at their house!
The number above truly is a home number for them! Wow! Mrs. Kusic really wasn't pleased about getting calls at home. She's there with her children and considered it an intrusion. I told her that everytime they call my home. I'll call theirs. Try it.

I have been getting calls every day, EVERYDAY from the NRA......I asked them to please not call until after 4 o'clock......they contine to call.  AT first they did not tell me who they were, they would ask to speak with my husband, when I asked who was calling they hung the phone up.  Sometimes they still don't introduce themselves, they bluntly ask to speak with my husband, just now I got a call.....I interrupted the woman (I was going to tell her to NOT CALL my number anymore, she hung up on me.)  I am so tired of this constant calling...
    How can I stop it?

Abusive collection violates FDCPA and state debt collection laws.

File complaints with FTC, your state Attorney General, and the PA Attorney Geneeral.

You can also sue them for making such abusive statements.

Log their calls, note date and time, and any abusive or deceptive statements.

I definitely agree with your post to leave a message. I worked for 10 years in collections (going after businesses) and I never resorted to the tactics that that profession is known for - but, you know very well why they don't leave a message - it gets them around the "calling once a day" clause. They can only call you and leave a message 1 time each day - if they don't leave a message, they feel it gets around that clause.

What we SHOULD do is, start complaining to the feds with printed out proof of the repeated calls each day and get them to clarify the rule about calling and start slapping fines for exceeding that. I have Verizon Fios and I am able to go online and see my in and out call record - for those that have the same ability, start printing out records showing the multiple calls in one day, build your case for harassment and complain to the higher ups. As far as I'm concerned it's a violation of the laws.

By repeatedly calling but not leaving a message, they are "causing a phone to ring for purposes of harassment".

And if they are calling you entirely in error, look into TCPA.
    $500 to $1500 PER CALL.

Been getting a call every few weeks from this number. This morning I finally called them. They said they had no record of my number. What a load of BS, when they called me at 2pm yesterday.

If they call again I won't call them back I will just go to the cops and press harassment charges.

If you have further problems, file complaints with FTC and your state Attorney General, then contact the PA Attorney General.

These people have been calling me for months. They ask for two different people, and I keep telling them that I am not who they are looking for. They promise to take my number off the list, but never do.

So, tonight I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. You can do so at this link:
    https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

Also, here's a link about your rights:
    http://ftc.gov/multimedia/video/credit/debt/debt-collection_eileen.shtm

Lastly-- I emailed the two people who they have been looking for... I do know these people but have no clue how my number got involved with them. I gave them the 800 number and told them to put it in their phone as "DO NOT ANSWER."

Might as well kiss those two collections goodbye. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Although it is important to report systematic abuse to FTC, it is probably more effective to file complaints with your state Attorney General (since they may be in violation of your own state's laws), and the Attorney General of Pennsylvania, since that is where they are located.

Those actions are more likely to cause their calls to cease.
