Been getting numerous calls from them this past week and a half. They just called a few minutes ago and they say nothing when phone is answered and leave no message when phone is not answered. I put them on my block list but they still get around it using the same number. That is insane.

Guys, just don't pay attention on them. They're rude on a purpose, they're ridiculous because trying to find someone who doesn't exist on your phone is stupid! They're looking for some people calling us, and we have no idea who those people are( I mean who they're looking for). Don't pick up phone. If you did it, so tell them that you don't understand them. Do you have to understand someone, who even didn't introduce him(her)self? I don't think so. Remember- they're just strangers for you. Do you have to give a report about your personal life or your relatives to .....  a stranger? I don't think so ether. So what are you worried about? Of cause, they're collecting agent, but you don't know that, right? Because they never tell that.

this company calls nearly every day asking for my 9 yr old daughter. The bill they are trying to collect is all of $40.  Who harasses a child for $40??

      Two possibilities:
      1)  Your daughter might have signed up for some scammy record club, and NRA is collecting on the account.
      2)  They may be harassing your daughter because her name is similar to someone else, and your daughter's information has been collected by some skip-trace database.

If (1), as a minor, she cannot agree to such a contract, and as her parent/guardian, you can demand that it be nullified due to your daughter not being an adult.  You can step in and they must deal with you if you demand it, and you can demand that they cease harassing your minor daughter.

If (2), then they are erroneously harassing your minor daughter.

Eithr way, contact your local District Attorney, state Attorney General, and the Pennsylvania Attorney General for assistance.

If they are getting your daughter's information from skip-tracing sources, then there is also probably an issue of information on a minor being illegally collected and sold.  Contact FTC, as they have been cracking down on trading in personal information on minors, particularly when they are under 13.

    BEWARE1099-C
This is a new tactic they are doing.   This company has called me once a week from this number 361-221-2211.  At first I thought  it was the National Rifle Association, but then he called me by my married name and to verify my last 4 digits of my social security, and it is in regards to a 1099-C form.  I immediately thought IRS, and this does not make since.  Why would a company call me about an IRS form, normally they just send the forms.  So I asked if this is in regards to the IRS.gov.  This guy immediately hung up the phone.  I been doing my own taxes for  years, and one he messed up by calling me by my married name.  Anything financially related is done through my MAIDEN name. Secondly I know alot of forms used from the IRS, you can either get them online to fill out, or they send it to you as a notice. If you owe money, they don't call, they just garnish it.  This company needs to stop its, PATHETIC.

these people had a booth set up at the fair, last year about getting windows for the house, so I said sure give me a call ( big mistake).   and we can talk about how many and how much ,  they called  we talked  they wanted way to much money, told them that I can do it for a lot less, thanked them for there time , but I do not need you, well for a year now, they have called me two to three times a day, looking to get PAID, I told them to stop calling as I did not have any of there windows installed, so now I am going to take them to Court.  I am sure the courts will slap them with a pretty good suit.....   will let all you know the outcome.

Received call from this number and said, if you are (name), please press 1, of not, press 2 or if you know the person and need to get (name), press 3, press 4 if you know person or not living at this residence.  I just hung up because don'[t know who is calling and not going to give out personal information.  Am on Do Not Call Registry for a few years now and I still get these calls.  Next step, contact authorities and use any legal means to get to this company.

They were so rude to me. said i was yelling, they were yelling at me, because i would answer back  because i refuse to pay something that i  owed from 2002. Unless i had something in writing saying what i owe and why. They said we cant do that i said why, and she said ok so i am going to write down that you refuse to pay, i said i did not say that i just don't want to give my bank info, and make payment arrangements on phone, i want it mailed so she said well i am going to write down you refuse to pay and god help me. lol Talk about scare tactics.

Abuse is a fraud indicator.. replies to glenda
It's also a violation of the law (FDCPA).

      Fraud indicators:
      1)  yelling, abuse
      2)  evading validation (proof) of the alleged "debt"
      3)  Saying they "can't" or "don't have to" provide proof, or anything in writing
(violates FDCPA prohibitions against deceptive collection, requirements for "g" letter, and requirements for validation)
      4)  Calling your demand for proof a "refusal to pay".  This is a common sleazy debt collection tactic, used to intimidate and belittle you, basically treating you as a "child" who needs to be told what to do ("pay us").  It has been repeatedly reported in connection with NRA, so we may assume they are trained in it.  It's also illegal and deceptive.  You are, in fact, refusing to pay an alleged debt they've refused to prove you owe, but that is your right.  If in fact they acted in accordance with FDCPA to your "refusal to pay", they should cease all further communications other than notifying you of any action they intend to take.  On an "account" from 2002, about all they can legally do is go away, but they are deceptively trying to imply that you have somehow done something "wrong" by doing so.  Abusive and deceptive collection, in violation of FDCPA.

They have a history of complaints of collecting on bogus or fraudulent Columbia House / BMG "music club accounts" using such tactics.  The original music club engaged in fraudulent "negative option" order cramming, fabricating "orders" and then adding "termination fees" to trump up "debts" before they sold off old accounts to bozo collection agencies like this.  That's where a lot of these really old "debts" come from, and since they know that accounts from 2002 are both too old to legally post on credit reports, and past SOL for suing in nearly all states, they use this beligerent intimidation to try to coerce payment, coerce some "verbal admission" or otherwise bully you into paying some "debt" they're not even sure is owed or owed by you.

Send notice by certified mail that you dispute any alleged debt and demand proof from the original creditor that it's owed.  Also include that it is "inconvenient" for you to receive their calls.  If they continue to harass you for some "debt" they refuse to prove, or they damage your credit on a "debt" older than 7.5 years, get an attorney and sue them.  Their violations may include abusive and deceptive collection, continued collection after notified of dispute and validation request, damage to credit (FCRA violation), etc.  You can find a consumer attorney in your state through www.naca.net

If you examine the complaints.. replies to They're showing a pattern..
some suggest they get old music or record club "accounts", some of which may be fraudulent, and then "fix" the alleged "account information" to come up with a name they can collect from, parking a "collection" entry on credit reports until the victim finds out his credit's damaged.

Their employees appear to know.. replies to They're showing a pattern..
that this is their tactic, as they lead toward unowed payments "it's easier to just pay to fix your credit", while evading attempts at validation.  Note the complaint reporting they "disclose" their address so fast it's unintelligible, which interferes with attempts to mail payment or FDCPA disputes.
