We attended their presentation and after some calculation decided to pay for the membership which was $4990. We wanted to update our kitchen and bathroom cabinets, as well as bedroom furniture. We put down about $1000, and the rest was financed through their lender Beta Finance.
A month later we started planning our purchases and realized we were about to pay more by buying through them than we would otherwise. What the don't tell you on their presentation is that while you save about 10% on furniture they add 8 % handling charge in addition to 7% tax, and that doesn't include shipping.
I am now trying to get our membership money back. Do not become a member! Buy from other stores.

of course you can read other sites,
BUT BEWARE of giving out your e-mail address
LIKE Debbie in North Hollywood on p. 102
who posted on Ripoff-report & she got a "make you wanna puke letter"
on behalf of db
IT IS A MUST READ
I did some digging around yesterday and came across several articles on other complaint sites..
A very insightful one regarded a previous DB attorney hired to shut down the DB complaint sites but legally they cannot. Maybe DB can buy some of them off.
I'll go back and look for it, about that particular case & attorney. It was something about him filing letters to cease and desist these complaint sites because of the wordage used of DB being described as detestable, rip-off artists, scammy, etc. Those words are not deflamatory or illegal, just opinions. It was a good read. So all in all I feel assured that this site will remain to be seen.
I'm glad we could help, please refer people to this site & let them know that we give on going personalized advice (LEGAL, DETAILS, & EMOTIONAL SUPPORT)
& there is no e-mail address necessary...
I just found a very interesting read, hot off the press
Sept. 30, 2010 -- Star-Telegram---- (Texas)
By: Dave Lieber--Fee dispute involves club where membership is now or never
After joining the Silver membership, member found major items cheaper in retail, & name brands in retial, that she was not allowed to buy with db
---Paid $3,000, complaint to the A.G. & F.T.C. & the BBB
Asking for only $2,000 back
DB offered to upgrade to the "gold" "scam" for free
& OF COURSE, DENIED THE SCAM
& bbb gets to hide the details of any 'RESOLUTIONS'
SCAM SCAM SCAM OR SCAM , TAKE YOUR PICK!!!
Does your contract explicitly state that you have a 3 day cooling off period? Mine doesn't. It isn't even 12 hours later and I already want to cancel my contract. How did you do it?
I'm really disappointed that I came across this site 12 hours after signing an agreement with DB. I feel so sick and upset right now. I don't know if I'm going to be able to sleep for days. It hasn't even been ONE DAY and I already know 150% that I want to cancel this agreement.
My family decided to sign up for DB 3 year gold program in Toronto, Ontario earlier today after attending the 90 minute "promise" session, and there is nothing on my membership agreement that says I can or cannot cancel my contract. We looked up some prices of appliances that we had already ordered from a big name retailer and noticed that the price difference was only about $50 for each appliance. Really not worth returning the one we already ordered if it means pocketing almost $5000!
I read through most of the pages and noticed you said that the contract should be revised after March 2009. Our agreement says revised 7/8/09 but there is no mention anywhere of a cancellation or that I can and cannot cancel my agreement, no 3-day cooling off period, nothing. I'm really confused.
It says in my membership guide that DB complies with all provincial regulations and requirements regarding membership agreement cancellations. But I'm confused. The agreement itself does not explicitly state that I cannot cancel my membership., but at the very end it also says "you have not relied on any oral or written statements... different from those made in this Membership Agreement."
I'm so confused! I would like to write a registered letter on behalf of my family but after seeing this on my contract I really don't know where to start!

YOU HAVE AN URGENT SITUATION & I JUST PHONED A POST OFFICE IN SHOPPERS DRUG MART, THE POST OFFICE IS OPENED Today, Sunday, TIL 5 P.M. (Double check yours)
Get a letter ready quick & get to the post office because they must give a rec't
Ask for Certified Mail, NO Signature required,
Then they can't stall the acceptance of the letter,
tomorrow is Thanksgiving Holiday & POST OFC. is closed
TUESDAY WILL BE O.K. but today would be better
Acc. to db's own corp. policy, you have a 3 day cooling-off period
guaranteed by their own contract
LIST THE REFERENCES:
1) CBC Marketplace-the price cut promise - March 27, 2009
Contract...inc. new guaranted revised ...inc. 3 day...
I AM checking the other refences,
I need to know if you are still here,
I guarantee that the contract is lying to intimidate you from your rights,
Yes I'm still here. Thank you so much for the quick and prompt reply. I won't be able to send the letter today unfortunately as I am not at home but I will mail it first thing Tuesday morning and get it dated, so that it still will not be 72 hours past after I signed the contract (I joined around 3-4pm). My agreement says it was revised on 7/8/09 but includes no mention of a 3-day cooling off period as the CBC video DB president/owner claimed it would after the revision. It doesn't include anything related to a cancellation either! However, in the membership guide it claims that they abide by all rules and regulations regarding cancellation but give no specific details.
The agreement also states that I will not rely on any verbal or written terms as not outlined by the agreement that I signed, which infuriates me because there are corporate policies that they don't mention at all!!
I am going to write up a letter as soon as I get home and post the details here. Would you mind please just helping me to revise it once I do? That would be fantastic.
lastly, what other details from the protection act should I include?
Thank you SO much Trudy,
Fem
I'm sorry that so many people on here and out there have had such terrible experiences dealing with DB and have lost so much money and /or have had their credit ruined. You would think that more people would know just how bad DB really is but the truth to that is that MANY, MANY, people don't know and that included me and my wife.
Once again THANK YOU for shining light on the terrible company DB. You've saved us from making the same mistake and with a little boy due Jan 5th and an older home that we are renovating we really didn't have even a hundred dollars that we could lose and not feel it.
Continue the good fight people. Your VOICE is being heard around the United States.
sincerely,
Mr. Art
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you
PLEASE use every bit of ammunition that you can find
IT sounds like they gave you immediate access to their prices & gave you all the company written info (that is something new, so you can't say that they didn't give you the info within the 3 day...
It would help if you can send a copy of written proof of cheaper prices elsewhere,
then you can use the CPA of ON --Misrepresentation & fraud
the contract is written in violation of the CPA
PART 11 6. no part of the Act can limit the CONSUMER RIGHTS or remedies
7. (1) the rights given in this Act apply, dispite any agreement or waiver to the contrary (THE WAY THAT THE CONTRACT IS WRITTEN, FORCED YOU TO BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS)

REFER this statement to the confusion of
1) forgetting to clarify a cooling-off period , then list your references
2) no cancellation policy
PART III

Thank you so much Trudy, you've been a great help.
IT is never too late to add info, but I suggest to put the new info on
a seperate page attach to the front,
with a heading ---FOLLOW UP & ADDITIONAL INFO
This letter is a copy of the letter that I faxed to you on _______
& I also sent by registered mail on _____________
IN addition, I am including additional information from the CPA...
YOUR contract is written without a cancellation period & written biased in favour of db, which does not include any references to the many rights that I am entitled to, under the CPA of ON.
...list the references & inc. the section #...
Also, request that db only responds by mail, within 5 bus. days of the receipt of the Registered letter...
you will not discuss by phone...
