We attended their presentation and after some calculation decided to pay for the membership which was $4990. We wanted to update our kitchen and bathroom cabinets, as well as bedroom furniture. We put down about $1000, and the rest was financed through their lender Beta Finance.

A month later we started planning our purchases and realized we were about to pay more by buying through them than we would otherwise. What the don't tell you on their presentation is that while you save about 10% on furniture they add 8 % handling charge in addition to 7% tax, and that doesn't include shipping.

I am now trying to get our membership money back. Do not become a member! Buy from other stores.

most people who want out of their db contract want out after they have read their contract and realize it is so one sided. so why not make the contract public. very few people will get refunds, those who are getting refunds are at the mercy of the mood of the day of the db owner and not because of a loophole in the contract. the contract is pretty well air tight and has been for over 30 years.

Go ahead on all, print out the contracts you're so adamant about and make them public. That's a good idea for working out your energy. Okay I'm finished with Alphie..
    Good day Alf and adios

they will continue to get new members when their contract is not available to new people for previewing before the open houses. face the fact that refunds are 99.99% not coming, so why not do the decent thing and give as many people advanced notice of what's in store for them. one copy of the contract in one new persons hands will certainly make its way to many other people. do not link to this site, lately it has been a lot of snitfitting.

many many people have tried, many with a lawyer or paralegal, the best that came out of the ohio lawsuits via the ags office was a voluntary 3 day cooling off period written into the contracts.

been looking at this all wrong, if you cant lickem joinem. with franchise owners taking great pride in their operations and the way they run them its a sure thing they would have no objections if you were to help them promote their business by showing people your contract. ask them. maybe they would agree to give money for every new member thats brought in. they are afterall the best way to shop.

    HI EVERYONE

THERE has been so much interesting activity here & amazing info lately,
Then there is Alphie in the middle trying to convince people to give up,
I am to the point of, wanting to call him every name I can think of,
But, my motive is to help get refunds, & if you don't start complianing in writing, then the db scammers think that you are happy,

Sorry, I have missed some letters lately,
So if you are still here, Please post me a reminder inc. where you live & what page your previous post is on.

Please don't give up & don't let anyone else give up!!!!!

Thank=you so much Roger for your great info on BBB,
I knew that bbb intercepted the complaints but I have never seen such interesting detailed info on the subject,
It is a must read for everyone!

Thankyou to Debbie in North Hollywood, also
    who printed another must read
***She sent an e-mail to RIP-OFF REPORT
WHO conveniently reported it to DB,
& she was sent a  "make you want to puke" response
defending the hell out of DB...
You will need a bucket to toss your cookies in,
    while you are reading it,

Everyone please comment on these 2 must reads on P. 102
Everyone except for the db owner, a.k.a. Alphie

Yup, Trudy - most of us are hep to "ALF". what a dip S _ _ T!

This is a great site for us dissatisfied 'wool pulled over our eyes' members.   Too hard to take losing so much money for nothing.

I met a contractor recently so I asked if he had heard of DB.  He had and said he couldn't afford to join.  Boy, was he smart.  He looked ahead.

Everyone I speak with or knows me will hear about DB if it's appropriate to the conversation.  Most of my friends know I've obsessed over getting a refund.  We'll see what happens.  If I had the time and energy I'd be down at their showrm/store, sign em up join every SAT am at 9:15 to waylay the next batch of people they've managed to line up for a presentation.

Something will happen in our favor.  Think positive... sure did learn a lesson from this experience.  When it comes to spending that great amount of money up front it's something to investigate thoroughly and not 'join that day'.  That's preposterous. Very harsh sales tactic, You have to join right now or you can't come back in for years.  What a crock.

GOOD FOR YOU LAURA, it's not a TOUR per say, they herd you and others into a room to listen to their sales presentation first.  Then they try and make you feel stupid if you come out thinking it's not a good idea to join DB.  They will say 'why pay retail when you can get it from us wholesale'  And you can get anything they have for less locally or online.  Also what they sale is very expensive brand names for the most part.

Then they'll work on you before you leave and manage to squeeze thousands of dollars out of people's pockets.
You can get a refund only if within 3 business days after joining.  We lost $5,490 !!!!!  I'm glad you didn't go.... It's such a heartache.

IN Reference to "UNFAIR" who got a refund,
the Alberta Trading Act & Proof of 15 cheaper items in retail,
although she claims that the law stated  'TALK' to the co.
...she fluked out majorly by not putting everything in Registered Mail

***PLEASE REMEMBER THAT 'TALK' is a subjective word,
in this case, 'TALK'  means 'CONTACT' & THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE PROOF IS IN WRITING...I am looking out for everyone with my 2 years of experience on this site,
Anyone needing help, please post at the end of the files...

the class action lawsuits are not aimed at getting membership monies returned to customers, they are aimed at getting the rebates etc from suppliers and manufacturers returned to customers who have purchased qualifying products. so get back on the picket line there dooped, maybe troody can tag along to hold your sign

Watching ID Investigative Discovery - 8:15 pm Tampa FL - they just ran the advertisement for DB == $50,000 home make-over if you have the KEY that fits.  They are luring more into their store.  I predict within 2 yrs that DB is going to be revealed for what they are.  Money hungry..

8:50 pm on Investigation Discovery channel again, another DB crummy commercial 'if your key fits you can win a $50,000 home make-over'.  How appropo that they're advertising on ID channel ... we need some investigations going into those dang DB stores and save the uninformed, unenlightened folks from possibly loosing thousands of bucks,,,

Let's fight back anyway we can!
Can you please print the phone numbers in the commercials

Anyone now can go on other the other complaint sites and see the truth written about Direct Buy's tactics.  Getting people to join up for thousands of dollars (all in one day).  IT'S NOT WORTH IT... DON'T JOIN OR EVEN GO THERE...
People, you can easily research online, not just this site but many others I found yesterday, warning people about DB.  Tons of complaints.  Look up Direct Buy complaints.  There's some great info about the Co.

I believe one of the sites was named ComplaintWire.  something like that.  I'm spending far too much time on this site but it's so very cathartic.
Be smart - do your research before joining any 'Exclusive Club' that's so high-priced and, like Roger expressed, money up-front for nothing.
