We attended their presentation and after some calculation decided to pay for the membership which was $4990. We wanted to update our kitchen and bathroom cabinets, as well as bedroom furniture. We put down about $1000, and the rest was financed through their lender Beta Finance.

A month later we started planning our purchases and realized we were about to pay more by buying through them than we would otherwise. What the don't tell you on their presentation is that while you save about 10% on furniture they add 8 % handling charge in addition to 7% tax, and that doesn't include shipping.

I am now trying to get our membership money back. Do not become a member! Buy from other stores.

    URGENT WARNING
PLEASE DO NOT CLICK INTO THE  ADDRESS LISTED BY "Double Agent"
Apparently they can get your info that way.

This person is really pissed that people are warning others not to go into sites or respond to e-mail addresses.

If you want to know what this person is talking about, you just google search "directbuy complaints" and go to "Directbuy customers speak out" and this takes you into infomercialscams.com,
then you can view the phony letters for yourself because the site is owned by DB and
it appears that everyone on the site may be "pretending to be someone else"  because the site itself is "pretending" to be a complaint file.

THE STRANGEST THING ABOUT THE RESPONSE IS THE FACT THAT:
"Double agent" knows that carol and ron did not ever write anything good about DB, as far as I can recall.
Don't the real Carol & Ron have a law suit vs. DirectBuy?
    Very suspicious...
Thanks to all the honest complaints on  this file!

    DON'T RESPOND TO ANY E-MAILS
Amazing, that people are still asking for private responses to e-mails.
If they read the responses on this site, they would know that all the info is already here.  Step by step details, how much more do they need people to repeat themselves.

EVERYONE, PLEASE RESPECT THIS SITE BECAUSE WE WANT TO MAKE SURE IT IS ALWAYS HERE FOR US.
    Thanks to everyone.

    Help for Amie
    Hi Amie
See the letter by Trudy, dated April 17, 2009.
Use the guidelines, instead just google: "Florida consumer protection act"
"undue stress" and basically an illegal contract that they cannot enforce because they do not have your legal name on the contract because you were forced to use your boyfriend's last name.
Good Luck, let us know how you progress.  There are several people who check in this site regularly.

    Congrats to Texas
    Congrats to Houston Texas!
LUCKY that you listened to your gut instinct and found this site.
Everyone here is more than willing to help and I am so happy that you used all the good info that you found here.
I know that many of us who check in regularly will be really glad that their energy has been used wisely to help others.
Did you get all your paperwork (proof) of your cancellation?
    Let us know.  Thanks.

    To DOUBLE AGENT
Thanks for contradicting the hell out of yourself.
You state that you are legal dept. for DB and you know that INFOMERCIALSCAMS.COM is a scam and you know that the comments on the site are not even written by real people.  THANKS AGAIN FOR CONFIRMING WHAT WE ALREADY KNOW TO BE TRUE.
The example that you use is so transparent.  Why would anybody bother to complain about "ron & carol sellers" who claim to be head over heels in love with DB.  That's pretty insanely funny, don't cha think?
The reason that you know that info is because DB owns the site and advertises how great they are all throughout the site and you work for them.  How convenient for you.
The only way that any letters can be printed on the site is after directbuy reads them and decides if they want to print them.  The other way they get printed is when DB unsuccessfully writes the letters themselves and tries to con people into believing that they are legit.
I always get my education and my entertainment from any site relating to DB.
DON'T YOU THINK THAT ANYONE ELSE KNOWS WHO YOU ARE, TOO.
YOU ARE THE LEGAL DEPT., AND YOU ADMIT PARTICIPATING IN ILLEGAL ACTIONS.

    Trudy
    HI ROGER
Check out the response to our conversation about protecting our privacy.
It's written by "DOUBLE AGENT" & it is very strange.    A few people already helped me out by responding to  that person.  I appreciated that.  Since I know that you check in often, I would really appreciate your opinion.  Should I just ignore it because I think that they just want me to slip up and give even more info.
    PLEASE let me know. Thanks.

    HI Junkim
So glad that this site helped save you the headaches- thanks for passing on the word because we can at least take away a bit of their power.

    Trudy-
Thanks for the heads-up. I looked at the comments made by Double Agent and I agree with you about him / her (or most likely DirectBuy) wanting us to give more information. I can't figure out what their motive is. I believe we must continue warning people about the evils of DirectBuy but also on the other hand be careful.

Msg for anyone who has been succesful
Trudy, thanks for your amazing advice. I sent the letter and asked for response/resolution in writing by registered mail, like you indicated. DB called to say they couldn't respond by registered mail in time for my deadline but they have a resolution for me and asked for my e-mail address. Should I accept their response by e-mail or at least ask that i get a signed, scanned copy of the letter attached in e-mail?  Advice?

    Trudy
HI to...Msg for anyone who has been...

I am so so very glad that you asked before responding to them.
Please do not accept anything by e-mail because they are making you more vulnerable, by asking you to give up more personal info.
All of the so-called "complaint" sites that are owned by DB demand your e-mail address too, so that they can intercept the complaint, so that it never reaches the public eye.
Remember that you are not supposed to open e-mails that you are unsure  of, so as soon as you give up this info they can give your e-mail to anyone and you will never know who you are really communicating with.
They are making a cheap excuse and they are stalling.
You can FAX them a quick response
    - ask them to please respond only by mail because whatever they have to say must be in writing
-you could mention that you cannot accept a response by e-mail because it is not a safe or secure method of communication.

-Tell them that you need an original signature, so no other method is acceptable.  (You will need it, in case you need to forward your complaint further)  Believe me, they know that e-mail is not "proof", anyone can forge that.

-Remind them to respond a.s.a.p. since they already claim to be willing to respond to you by reg'd mail and already have a resolution for you,
you will co-operate with them by extending your deadline by so many bus. days.  (You decide, 5 bus. days or maybe 10)

In my case, they wanted to talk but I just basically repeated my request and reminded them that you are asking for a rescission of the contract and a full refund.
I am so glad that I could help.
Good luck, and please respond soon.

    I Agree
I agree that if someone wants the info bad enough, they should read the file like everyone else.

    double agent
clearly noone actualy read my message. It was pretty clear for anyone who knows how to read. My warning was just to make sure Trudy knew that Direct Buy does read these blogs and infact post thier own. I have said nothing to defend them. I have said nothing to try to trick anyone. If you think i have said anything that contradicts myself then you either cannot read or you are an idiot and should stay away from all blogs. So let me say it again just to be clear, even to those who cant understand basic writing. Direct Buy Watches all of these blogs. They make false blogs. They have a legal team watching, So BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY!!!  Everyone knows the company engages in lets just say "shady" practices so they will do anything they can to make sure no one else can read your blog. Once again ill be clear because i know some on this sight are simple minded. I have not made any threat of anykind, i have not defended Direct buy in anyway, I have contradicted my self in anyway. I have show a post that was listed from Direct Buy as proof that they do make false claims on these sights.

    TO: Double Agent
"Double Agent"  YOU WORK IN A LEGAL DEPT. FOR DB?  ARE YOU KIDDING ME.
First of all, you are a bully who is abusing this site and second of all, you can't even spell, what is a "NOOONE" (get yourself a dictionary) have you ever heard of double spacing between sentences or using paragraghs, or a capital for the word I, and I'll.  I even try to help people who can't spell BUT you claim to be educated.
You accuse people of not knowing how to read and tell them to watch what they say, then you call them idiots and simple minded.  People who are telling the truth do not have to be careful.
Now you say that the legal dept. is watching... I thought you were the legal dept.  Don't you think they are watching you too because now you are accusing db of "shady" practices.  if you really work for them, you wouldn't be stating that.  Isn't that libel?
Anybody that reads INFOMERCIALSCAMS.COM carefully knows that it is a scam.

"Be careful of what you say?" If you are trying to help, please let us know all of the facts about DirectBuy instead of being ambiguous. What are these "shady" practices that DirectBuy engages in and what harm are you trying to warn us against? Don't we, as the public, have the right to free speech & expressing our own opinions?

    Roger
    Trudy-
Thanks for all of your time & efforts in regards to helping others end their DirectBuy nightmares. The posts from Double Agent are a bit bizarre, however, entertaining. I wonder how long it will take for DirectBuy to purchase this website? Let's keep spreading the word on DB and I hope they'll get shut down or go under someday.
