We attended their presentation and after some calculation decided to pay for the membership which was $4990. We wanted to update our kitchen and bathroom cabinets, as well as bedroom furniture. We put down about $1000, and the rest was financed through their lender Beta Finance.

A month later we started planning our purchases and realized we were about to pay more by buying through them than we would otherwise. What the don't tell you on their presentation is that while you save about 10% on furniture they add 8 % handling charge in addition to 7% tax, and that doesn't include shipping.

I am now trying to get our membership money back. Do not become a member! Buy from other stores.

I attempted to get an appointment with the showroom to order wedding invitations. Called the local number, then had to call a 1 800 number to find out the showroom no longer exists. This is a real crock and need to find out how I can cancel my membership. Any assistance with this matter is greatly appreciated.

We regretfully signed our contract July 26 2011. We are trying to put flooring in our home.  We found out the flooring is not only more expensive but they also charge us $150 just to have it delivered.   So unless we can afford 20 boxes at a time to avoid the delivery fee, which we can't, then it was not a good deal.  I am very disappointed that we bought into the hype and now notice there is not one single commercial flooding the airwaves like they were at the time we bought into it.  We are now being harassed by Beta Finance Co for payments on a contract that we were told we cannot cancel out of.  Help???

Direct Buy is a JOKE!! I wish we would have never signed. Now the company is filing for bankruptcy to protect their [***], WHAT ABOUT THE CONSUMER!  Do not fall into their high pressure sales pitch.  WALK AWAY!!! They make you believe you will not find a better price elsewhere but I found out the hard way.  I will be at the hearing to see what kind of protection if any I have.  I feel so foolish and stupid for ever believing such nonsense.  The ironic thing is I used to work for the Better Business Bureau and got suckered into their scam. IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBABLY IS!

If anyone joined in new york we r out of luck. That 3 day rule don't apply to newyorkers. So we should all get together and protest outside and call the news. What we have to lose ?

How did you pay for your membership...if you used a Credit Card you should perhaps file a dispute with the credit card stating that Direct Buy did not hold up their end of the bargain, their prices aren't cheaper and provide evidence.  The credit card company may be able to fight for you under the Fair Credit Billing Act.

Surely if they can't find your contract then they don't have any proof that you're a member so therefore you don't owe them anything!

We are members of Direct Buy in the North East. This club is for someone who has the time to do their homework. You must know to look at your options as far as fees, taxes and freight charges. Online buying is bettter however everything is not available online. Our club has a very knowledgeable staff and can be very helpful. If you are in the market for a large kitchen reno or alot of furniture to purchase it is a good deal. We are happy with our membership but it is very time consuming when you're on a budget.

I Live in Massachusetts and on 2/5/12 signed a contract at DB, like most I the "now or never" tactic left me with blinders on. I immediately started to feel sick to my stomach, and even more so after I finally got home and started researching the company and what I had just done.

I have just written a letter of recission tonight 2/6/12 and tomorrow 2/7/12 will be mailing a certified copy to both the office I joined at here in MA, as well as the Corporate office in IN. With the letter I will be including a print out of the statement Bob Fesperman made to Boston Channel regarding the corporate policy of 3-day reccission highlighted.

I am hoping this allows it all to go smoothly without trouble. The office I joined will not actually be open again until Wednesday. What happens if they choose not to sign for the letter? As long as the letter is post-marked and I have proof that it was sent within the 3 day period, is it true they have to honor it no matter when they recieve it?

Also my contract did not have stated anywhere on it the 3-day recission policy, so from my reading here on the sight is it true that they are using an illegal outdated form, and that this would void my contract as well?
