I'm job hunting... everytime my cell phone rings and I see a number with area code on it I get excited... decided to query the internet as to who is calling me... 877-671-1851... saw all these wonderfully positive postings... alas no job query... just more cell phone garbage... guess my efforts with the no call list are to no avail.. think this is bad... I was on Sprint's Military Plan... we were overseas for three years... supposed to keep my account in limbo until we moved back to the States... there are not supposed to be charges, but was taxed via New York State... kept having to call Sprint to have numerous charges and bills reversed... Sprint just doesn't get it...
Will leave Sprint when contract runs out... do you hear that Mr. Sprint CEO ?

I got this phone call today and the salesperson was persistant in getting my PIN before even telling me what the services were they were offering.  When I told them I wouldn't give my PIN unless I called *2, the salesperson said "Fine, I'll call the other phone on your account" and hung up on me.

    Good customer service.

Sprint is a pain and I agree with almost all comments above.  I got this call on another phone and they didn't get it:  NO...why would 2 70 year olds who have 2 lines need another line?  I have a lovely camera and I do not use the camera feature on my phone so why do I want another camera phone?  Those people are nuts.  Once I got a direct line to a Sprint customer service person....a higher up...and, guess what,  she couldn't solve my long standing problem either!  Just didn't answer today.

I'm a sprint customer as well, I got a call from 8776711851 at about 5:00 pm today, I did not answer and a 5 second message was left, what I heard was a bunch of far away voices, babbling and no real message was left.
What I do is, add it as a contact and in the name I put "TELEMARKETER Ignore"

I was getting the same call from number 877-671-1851. Sprint customer service is a joke! I told them that I was not interested and please remove my name from their telemarketing list. Yesterday, I got fed up and called "customer care" just "how" Sprint is caring for it's customers I do not know. The rep told me she didn't have the "authority" to take my name off their list. She transferred me to sales and as I was complaining, the sales rep hung up on me! This should be soooo illegal! It's really a shame since I've had pretty good luck with Sprint phones and plans.

    S. Finn - Suggestion for contact list
Could barely understand the woman saying she was from "Spreeent"& and wanted to make sure I had a plan that worked for me.  Asked if I used the phone for personal use or business, and I said personal use.  She then wanted to know what is the most important reason I use my phone.  I told her, I "can't pick one, I use it for various reasons."  Silence...then she said "What are you doing?"  I said "VARIOUS reasons--for MANY reasons, a lot of DIFFRENT reasons."  Then she asked if I often use more minutes than are on my plan.  I said  "If you are really from Sprint, you should already KNOW that."   "Ah, yes, but  I need to confirm whether you go over your minutes or not".  I asked:  "How do I even know you are from Sprint if you don't know that?"  She said: "Well, thank you anyway", and hung up. I am putting that number into my contact list under "HOAX SPRINT" in my contact list--and I'm thinking of changing to a company that keeps it's personnel working in the good old USA

I called Sprint/nextel as soon as I called this number (877) 671-1851 from a land line. It is NOT SPrint or Nextel. They looked up that number and it is NOT one of thier lines. They do NOT call fo promotions unless you are on thier calling list. I have had nextel for 5 years and have NEVER once gotten a call like this. Do not answer it.

I've been getting these calls (about one every other day) for the past 2 or 3 weeks. After reading your site, I determined I no longer wish to receive them. So I Saved the number to my cell phone's address book with the name "Do Not Answer". I then set the Ringer for this number to Silent Ring (this ringtone is available for free from Sprint and does exactly as it says: the ringtone is silent). Problem solved.

    Dude
The do not call list does not count when you are a customer, they can call you every min of the day! When sprint out sourced those jobs, it must be those people working for peanuts calling us! They are messing with our minds!

I got a call from this number this morning.  I didn't answer.  I don't use my cell for phone calls often.  So if the number doesn't look familiar, I don't answer.  Is there a way to block calls on the cell phone?  Do we have to pay for calls we don't answer?

I see VERIZON in the very near future!!!
My wife got a call from from 877-671-1851 and she answered it, we use to ignore unknown numbers but with two children overseas in the military we don't anymore. The woman on the phone began interrogating my wife about my cell phone plan and when my wife told her she was not the contract holder the woman hung up. SPRINT you have pissed me off for the last time, ADIOS!!

I received a call from them a few hours ago. They rarely call me unless I complain about the phone service. Only complaint I have is the lack of a good signal where I live.
Their suggestion is to get a Airave antenna.
$100 for that and $5 a month for that service. Not to mention it runs off of DSL service.

    Learn how to read
The Do Not Call Registry does not ban calls from companies you have a business relationship with, in this case SPRINT.  They are not banned by the FCC regulations because these calls are not considered telemarketing calls.....read the fine print

I am on the DNC list but I receive calls from this number once or twice a day, I answered the first one because I though it could be one of my kids calling using a friends phone. the guy wanted me to purchase extra lines etc. I told him I was at work and could not talk and was not interested in upgrading my service, he just ignored what I told him and kept talking!! I told him again that I was not interested and was at work, but it didnt phase him, I finally hung up on him and now I have named the number in my phone as DO NOT ANSWER so that I wont ever pick it up!! if this is Sprint I wont be renewing my contract...its VERY annoying!

Yep.  Telemarketing, to the customers who happen to be on the "do not call" list.  I got mine tonight.  I didn't answer the phone, I just waited until it quit ringing, then googled the number, and here we are.

I now will be looking on my next phone bill to see if they charge me for an incoming call from (877)671-1851.

Sprint- you are about to lose a customer. What part of "do not call" do you not understand?

P.S.-  I NEVER buy over the phone, and I NEVER would buy from any company that is in the business of outsourcing goof american jobs to small companies and overseas companies that pay their employees peanuts.

    This is a SCAM!
Do not give them your personal information.
Sprint will only contact you via email or text. I told this to the "telemarketer" and she hung up on me!
I would recommend you not even confirm your name, tell them they have the wrong number.

I'd be very wary of these calls.  I've been called a couple times and this is NOT sprint calling.  This is definitely one of those scams we always seem to hear about.

Same problem here.  Funny thing is, we all share sprint.  That can't be by chance.  So either they give away our info openly, or it's them!!!!

    Thank you, come again.....

I've been getting them on my sprint phone every day too.  I've never picked up.  I don't plan too either.  I figure if something is important, they'll leave a message.

I am another Sprint customer receiving unwanted phone calls on my cell phone from 877-671-1851.

I am also on the do not call list.

So Sprint, what's your explanation for this?

The do not call list doesnt apply to companies you do business with.....
    str8 from the FTC

If I register my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, will it stop all telemarketing calls?
No. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls.

It is SPRINT (or a duely authorized representative)!  If you call the number back, they caller ID your phone and put you into an automated sales pitch allowing you to select additional services by pushing buttons.  The [***]!  I am still trying to collect on a promised $200 rebate from almost two years ago.  I would rather go to tin cans and string before signing a new contract with this company.

I have received this call everyday since I got my new replacement phone, usually only twice a day, in the morning, and afternoon.  I am glad I googled the number, which is normally what i do when getting calls from a number that doesn;t ever have anyone or anything on the line.  I say hello, when I answer, but there is never a response, automated or otherwise, just dead air.  Thansk for the help, i'll just ignore it from now on. But it is pesky, sprint get on it!

These calls do come from Sprint. Call customer service and update your preferences to stop the calls. They do acknowledge the solicitation attempt(s)
I have run into this before (with other companies) where 3rd parties are contracted to solicit upgrades. The real headache with these 'people' is that many, it seems, simply call to get paid for the attempt with no intention of an actual solicitation pitch.

This is Sprint calling my cell phone.  Because I use Sprint as a customer I can not apply them to the do not call list........but still I am not going to answer and use my minutes to talk to them.  They are still trying to sell more.

I too have received these calls from 877-671-1851. I answered the first one because I have a client that has a 671 exchange. I was suspicious when they said they were from Sprint because they didn't seem to know that much about my account and were very insistent that I add some services that I don't need. A call came in again last night (Friday night) after 8:00 pm, this time when I tried to get rid of them - they wanted to schedule a call back time. I dread even calling Sprint to try to get through the maze they call customer service to ask them to stop! I hope they read this. This is not a good way to garner customer loyalty.

Personally, if I don't recognize the number, or it comes up as "unavailable", "blocked", or "Private", I let it go to voicemail. If they leave a message (which of course they rarely ever do) I can choose to respond or not. Basically, I see the phone as being for my convenience. Unfortunately these days you need to screen your cell like a land line.
