fraudulent withdrawals from my account
Complaint
IRENE HUFF
Country: United States
I had never heard of WC *BUDGET SAVERS MNTH until it showed up as an automatic withdrawel from my account. As bad timing would have it, I became preoccupied with family illness and subsequent funeral. When I again found the time and energy to address this problem, I found out it's a company I NEVER heard of and they say I authorized it. I NEVER authorize automatic withdrawels and I don't even use coupons, why would I request the services of a coupon clipping website? I am reporting this to our local police for fraud and theft and any other agency I can locate. I believe this may have been triggered by an internet purchase I made for "Aquabulbs" who, by the way, also ripped me off.
WC *BUDGET SAVERS MNTH broke into my account and stole 19.99 from me for 9 months.

Here's what you should say when making the call:
"There was an unauthorized withdrawl from my account. I want to receive a refund and cancel any further transactions with this company."
(They'll start in with their load of hooey; interrupt the service rep after the first few words of 'you agreed to a $1', repeat the first line . . . yeah, it sounds rude, but these people are stealing and creating a worse situation for an already taxed economy).
"I was told by (your card company or just say my account information) that a withdrawl of (list the amount, it will usually be between $19 and $14 dollars) was made on (date, all of this information will be available when you look up your account information) and that my card was debited while my account was credited by Budget Savers."
(Here they will tell you that they work with a lot of companies and that the representative has never heard of Budget Savers before in their life. Do they think they're dealing with infants?)
"This is the information I was given and the phone number accompanying it. Refund the amount and cancel my information promptly."
(They may try to tell you that there will be a waiting period and that they have to send you forms, do not let them finish that sentence.)
"The average transaction takes less than 72 hours. I want the money refunded and my information canceled within 72 hours."
(If they argue, keep repeating this and mention the FTC's laws governing timely transactions. You might want to look this up, it's good information to have and it will shock them into realizing they're dealing with a knowledgable customer.)
"That is all I need for now. Thank you."
That shows them you know what you're talking about and that you won't back down. These people are scamming needy families in particular who really look to save money on fuel and groceries. It's shameful what greedy criminals will do to other people just for money!
