Received a call from a wireless caller 254-217-8107 (LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS, LLC – TX) which is local to where we reside. A woman left a message claiming that my husband needed to call and give this company an updated address to receive a court summons.  The woman on the phone left the following number (888-247-2983) along with a claim number. At the end of the message the individual stated very rudely that my husband had been notified. Upon calling the phone number provided and got a rep by the name Diego Chris (extension 305) and said he was calling from Universal. He stated that my husband needed to appear in court on fraudulent charges and would not give any other information that I requested concerning the matter. The very next day we received a call from family stating that they also receive a phone call looking for my husband. The phone call came from the following number 409-292-0183 (LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS, LLC – TX) which is local to where our family resides.  When my family ask who was calling for my husband the individual on the other end simply ended the call. The number that show up on the caller ID are local number, but when trying to dial the number back you receive the following messages: “Busy Signal” and “Due to network issues the call cannot go through and to try the call later.” When my husband called the toll free number given; he stated that a man answered the phone and then hung up on him. Several attempts later all we got when calling the number was a Universal recording to either dial an extension or “0” for the operator to assist you. When dialing the extension and/ or “0” all you hear is “The person you are trying to reach is currently on the phone. Please leave a message at the tone or press the pound sign for further options.”

I had been getting calls several times a week from these scammers. They use Level 3 Communications to “Spoof” numbers from your local area. They don’t know I move from that area 10 years ago but kept my number. Well I found a way to at least slow down the calls. I answer the calls now with “Raleigh Police Department, Fraud Division, Detective XXXX, how may I help you?” They hang up right away and don’t call for a few week....

That is hilarious. I’m always trying different humorous tactics with unwanted calls/solicitations. This is a good one. I think I’m gonna have to try it.

I started getting calls like this back in the late July early August. I have changed my phone number three times. I’m extremely sick. In a wheelchair from neuropathy .  I’ve pulled all my credit reports I have nothing in collections. I have received calls from four different numbers calling themselves all types of different company names. Refuses to give an address threats of lawsuits garnishments jail time. Threats of needing to serve me that they never follow up on.  . I no longer answer my phone unless it’s someone already in my contact list. And then I don’t answer I call them back. They have spoofed phone numbers. In September I received over 30 something calls all spooked local numbers. The phone company says they can’t do anything because it’s being done from a computer generated software the over writes its self. I even put a thing on my phone that says I’m victim Of phone spoofing Criminal scammers. If a person is not in my contact list I have their calls re directed To a Burner number that I never look at

Got a call from 404-476-4485.  No message.  Looked it up and it said it was a land line through Level 3 communications.  Been getting a lot of calls with no message ever since my email was scammed.

Thought I would comment that I just got a call from a 304-881-0104, which is linked to Level 3 Communications. They actually hung up quickly. Glad I reverse searched and found out it’s a scam before dialing. Thanks for other posts.

I just got a call from (708) 315-6138. A guy asked for my nephew (who doesn't live with me) and pronounced his name wrong. I started to talk and they hung up. tries to call right back around 8 times. All calls were cut off. The number registered to, you guessed it: Level 3 Communications.  So I just texted this to that number: "[***] don't ever [***] call this number again you [***]"  Made me feel better anyway.
