I am a customer of HSBC. I recently started to get calls from the HSBC collection department. At first I thought it was some misunderstanding because my account with HSBC is in good standing. After several calls from them it was clear they are looking for a different person. I explained to them several times that I am not the person they are looking for, and that they need to remove my mobile phone number from the records of that customer.

However, the calls continue. I am disappointed in their level of attention and cooperation with the customer.

    That's probably because this guy's real name is probably more like Muhammid Allah and is working out of India using fake names...he just doesn't know who the hell he is each day.  Or, could be he is a [***] who is too afraid to use his real name when he's out picking up men, so he uses both here, just in case he was drunk and accidentally told one of his 'pick up's one of those names....or it could just be that he is just a stupid mo f'er who works for a lying mo f'n company that nobody can keep their lies straight.  Everyone who works for HSBC is a lower than any dreg on society and hopefully they will go bankrupt becuase hopefully anyone who owes them any money will refuse to pay them cuz they ARE NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF F'N RAPISTS AND THEIFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I too paid HSBC monthly payments of $240 per month for 3 years on a $10k personal loan (as I was told by the rep), which turned out to be a $10k revolving credit at 24.97 interest.  HOW THE HELL WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU PAID $6K IN TIMELY PAYMENTS ON A LOAN FOR THREE F'N YEARS AND FIND OUT YOU STILL OWE MORE THAN THE ORIGINAL PRINCIPAL BORROWED ($10K).  I DON'T GIVE A RAT'S ASS WHAT ANY OF YOU SAY, HSBC IS AN INCORPORATED LOAN SHARK AND THEY SHOULD BE DRIVEN OUT OF BUSINESS AND SUFFER MAJOR LOSSES.  EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE SHOULD LOSE THEIR JOBS AND THE ATTY GENERAL SHOULD SHUT DOWN THIS ALLEGEDLY LENDING BUSINESS FOR EVER!!!  WHY DON'T YOU STUPID IDIOTS ALL MOVE TO INDIA AND OPEN UP IHSBC.....THAT WAY YOU CAN HAVE CLOSE TO A BILLION PEOPLE TO BEND OVER AND RAPE THEM OF ALL OF THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY...AND WHEN YOU ARE DONE....WHY DON'T YOU ALL MOVE TO CHINA AND WORK YOUR SAME DAMN MAGIC OVER THERE...THIS WAY, THE ENTIRE WORLD WILL IMPLODE!!!!!!

      Mareen, if you paid 240 p/mo on a loan at 24.97% interest you only paid down your debt $383 for the year.  Interest for the year would be around $2,497. on 10k and 12 mos of $ 240=$2,880.  This is the down side to paying only your minimum payment due as the statement spells out in years how many years it would take to pay off your debt at that rate.  It is clear by your overt hostility that you are a victim of everyone and everything else in your life and for that I sincerely feel sad for you.  A few tips for using credit cards is to only utilize 10-12% of your available credit and pay that amount of each month.  NEVER pay late or this will absolutely increase your apr.  The longer you stretch out your debt the higher risk you become to any financial institution and this will absolutely increase your apr.  The number of derogatory marks from other associations on your credit report will also affect your apr.  Most of all don't accept a credit card with a high apr rate in the first place and if you do, use as little as possible.  It is your responsibility to know what you are signing up for and how much it will cost you.  Life can change and difficulties arise and usually you get back what you give in the way of attitude.  Some of the happiness people I know have dealt with severe tragedies and life circumstances, it is how you deal with it that gives you honor and grace in the face of turmoil.  Best wishes to you and your family.

    I worked for HSBC for 2 years as a collector and account receivable agent, I can feel for some people regarding the amount of calls or the occasional rudeness of 'some' collectors.. or bank policy being real strict.
    It is what it is.. 'Collection'. It's not 'Please can you pay your bills whenever you feel like, but don't worry it's not urgent'

    If that can answer a few ?s:

    1. Hanging up won't stop the calls.
    2. Being vulgar or uncooperative won't stop the calls.
    3. Being honest will help you get an agent to help you the best they can, even if you can't afford your bill, they got programs.
    4. Moving out won't stop the calls. (Eventually they'll trace you back).
    5. Do No Call List does not stop the calls.(This only works for Marketing/Sales companies.)
    6. They won't reduce interest rate - you we're aware of it before asking for a financing.
    7. If agents hang up on you, make a complaint, they ARE looked over.
    8. Don't call it 'harassment' when you answer calls, that's called 'avoiding responsibilities'.  
    9. Signing up for someone else doesn't make you unliable for pmnts due.
    10. READ YOU CONTRACT BEFORE DISPUTING.

    My best advise remains, like any company you deal with, face your problem right away and as soon as possible so you avoid having your credit affected, like other HSBC employee mentioned before, most of us are there to help you because that's how we meet our goals as employee and get bonuses, etc. Don't go judging a whole company because you fell on one rude agent. Sucks to say but in the age we're living our credit is our future. If you face a critic situation and seek help to resolve your problem and the agent over the phone isn't any help - ASK FOR A MANAGER, they are obliged to transfer you or direct you to a manager voice mail which can take care of your inquiry at lot faster than debating with a casual unexperienced agent.

    Understand that this WorldWide Bank is very efficient to get back the money you owe and that's why it's everywhere, because BIG franchises like Best Buy, Future Shop, Henry's and thousands more in the world don't want to have financial loses and deal with financial problems they delegate their whole Financing business to Corporate Banks like HSBC. For every unsatisfied client closing down his account, there is 1000s new ones opened daily.

    Truth is 85% of clients I used to call are people struggling with debts or people uneducated of credit policies and terms.
    15% of poeple we're just over sighted payments, statement lost in mail, payment misapplied by mistake, stuff like that.

    So before you go yelling and calling names over agents trying to reach you so you preserve a good credit and save you $ on interest fees.. ask yourself if VISA, MasterCard or any other Financial Institutions does the same before the damage is already done.

    Enclosed pl.find the three Tata Aig policies  and HSBC bills xerox copies as you advised.

    The discrepancies are as under.



    1.Policies are dated 29/12/09. but your period of billing is 04-12-09 to 03-01-10.
    2 S.Jawahar's Policy amount  is Rs.734/-but you charged in your bill Rs. 1455/-
    So,the  bill amount should be Rs.3644/- and not 4364.70

    Both the corrections have to be made at your end and send the revised bill.

    HSBC has the most incompetent and inefficient staff in NYC.  In mid-Feb, '10, I visited the branch at 3rd Ave and 57th and, among other things, requested debit/atm cards. As I'd just moved to NY, I was added to someone's existing account.

    1 month after I received nothing. I called their 800 # and was told I'm not in their system. Then i visited their Grand Central branch and gave them (again) my SSN, and once again requested the same cards. 2 weeks after, nothing again. So I called yet again. I was told no cards were ever requested for me, and after a few minutes of being put on hold, was told that the Grand Central branch never ever got a visit from me!

    At this point, I was speechless, as this type of service is what one expects from a supposedly small-time bank in a backward society.

    Our solution is simple. We closed our accounts and took our money to Chase.

    HSBC might have flashy advertisements everywhere, but they lack the human touch. Thank God we live in a capitalist world where there are options!

    I receive calls daily from HSBC.  I have never done business with the company.  I work nights and this company keeps interrupting what little sleep I get.  I just received my annual credit report yesterday and haven't had a single late payment on anything in over 20 years.  I have reported the company to the FTC and Arizona Attorney General as I am on the "Do Not Call" list.

    you need 15,000.00 to open up a account, that's right, 15,000.00. my wife try to go there open up a account today, after 10 min she is back, i was thinking "wow these people work fast" then she tell me she can't open a account at the branch because you need 15,000.00 to open one, at first i didn't believe her, so i went down to the branch with her, when i got there i site down on the chair wait for my call, after 5 min a banker tell ours "come over here," so we did, he ask us "what do you want"? i tell him that we need to open up a account, then he ask me do you have a green card, mails, ID, and passport. so we shown him all. then he ask do you have 15,000.00 i say you mean 15 hundred, he say no 15,000.00 in us. i say i got 4,000.00, he say sorry you can't open a account with 4,000.00, i never hear that before, so i pick up my phone call the main office number, they tell me that's not right, you can open account with 50.00. so i ask to see the manger, he say he is not here. man from 15,000.00 to 50.00. so we left i don't want some crazy banker with all my information, who know who he going to sale to.

    I AM AN HSBC MEMBER FOR SEVERAL YEARS. I GOT A PROBLEM REGARDING MY CASH INSTALLMENT PLAN YOU OFFERED TO ME FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME AND SAID PLAN WAS APPROVED LAST OCT 27,2010 AMOUNTING TO 15,000 TO BE DEPOSITED TO MY MBTC ATM ACCOUNT.YOUR CONCERNED DEPARTMENT DELETED THE FIRST DIGIT OF MY ACCOUNT NUMBER SO AUTOMATICALLY THE BANK REJECTED UPON DEPOSIT.THEY ADVISED ME TO REDEPOSIT AGAIN BECAUSE I KEPT ON FOLLOW -UP WITH THEM. THEY ASK FOR ANOTHER BANK ACCOUNT AND I GAVE MY BDO CASH CARD ACCOUNT. BUT ACCORDING TO BDO OFFICER -CASH CARD WILL NOT ACCEPT MANAGER CHECK . THEY ARE ONLY ACCEPTING CASH TRANSACTION.I MADE SO MANY FOLLOW UP WITH HSBC ,THEY TOLD ME ITS ALREADY REDEPOSITED. I KEPT ON ASKING FOR PROOF OF DEPOSIT BUT UNTIL NOW HSBC NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE ME A PROOF OF DEPOSIT . SAID LOAN STARTED ON MY ACCOUNT. ALL I CAN SAY IS , I AM NOT GOING TO PAY THIS AMOUNT SINCE EVEN A SINGLE CENTAVO I WAS NOT ABLE TO RECEIVE THIS ONE. I CAN PROVIDE YOU BANK STATEMENT FROM METROBANK TO PROVE THAT YOU WERE NOT ABLE TO DEPOSIT SAID AMOUNT TO MY ACCOUNT. I MADE ON FOLLOW UP EVERY WEEK BUT NOTHING HAPPENS.

ALL I CAN SAY IS I WILL NOT PAY THIS LOAN BECAUSE I HAVE A PROOF THAT YOU WERE NOT ABLE TO DEPOSIT SAID AMOUNT TO MY ACCOUNT.
