I am a customer of HSBC. I recently started to get calls from the HSBC collection department. At first I thought it was some misunderstanding because my account with HSBC is in good standing. After several calls from them it was clear they are looking for a different person. I explained to them several times that I am not the person they are looking for, and that they need to remove my mobile phone number from the records of that customer.

However, the calls continue. I am disappointed in their level of attention and cooperation with the customer.

    The problem with HSBC is that they don't communicate between offices.  The different branches of the company don't know anything about what is going on in the others, so if you get a call from one, you eventually will get a call from another about the same issue.  They don't know that you've already been contacted and they seem to not care either.  I am an active duty Marine, and had trouble resolving a loan that I got from them before I joined.  They stopped sending me billing statements after I finished boot camp in 2006, and despite calling repeatedly month after month, year after year, I was unable to get a hold of anyone that knew about my account.  I just recently was able to get a hold of someone back in November that figured out how to look up my account and tell me what the status is.  Now they are asking for over $2,000 in interested in addition to the $3,346 that I owed them originally.  My credit is shot because of them now, so bad that I can't even find a place to live.

    ILLEGAL DEBT COLLECTION
    I received abusive & harassing phone calls from a number also from a "Mr. King" from WPG acting on behalf of HSBC. Mr. King threatened me & my family regarding a relative's debts. He lied, harassed, and insulted our family.

    What a crock of [***]. What about your 18 month "deferred" interest scam you and Best Buy got going? What about charging late fees even when people pay their bills online, on the due date? What about hidden fees that the consumer never asked for? What about the allegations of hsbc laundering drug money for the cartels down in Mexico? What about that VP of yours that was arrested for accepting bribes from the cartels? How many American kids have gotten hooked on the drugs the hsbc helped provide?
    You're too dumb to realize that hsbc is actually a very well trained organized crime outfit. Trust me, I have my sources.

    Send all of your complaints to the attorney General,s office. the Governors office and the keeper of the currency Washington D.C . Contact your senator and congressman and anyone else including the Better Business Bureau your state and h,s,b,c location. Keep records and contact them every month.

    Dear Michelle Ansani, VP Collections Dept., Household Bank,
    I received your ‘Offer to reduce my balance.’ Now let me be clear. There is only one deal available to you. The details you will find as you read on.
    Under the FTC, regarding the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, you have broken a federal law under section 806-Harassment and Abuse, Part 5.
    At the bottom of this letter you will find a list of the dates and times when you have unduly harassed me, after you were made aware of the circumstances in which it was a mistake made by one of your employees that informed me that a payment had been made to my account in the amount of $3750.00 on April 4, 2011. She told me to call back on April 11, 2011 to make sure it was a legitimate transfer. I got the same person when I called because she identified herself ‘as the one I spoke with on April 4, 2011.’ She assured me that the transfer was legitimate and I could begin using my card again the next day. I called the automated system the next day and it confirmed that I only owed approximately $169.00.
    I then purchased an exercising machine that cost around $1850.00. I am on disability and cannot go out in the heat. It was the only way for me to get physical exercise. I purchased groceries, medications, and paid a doctor bill. The rest of the purchases which didn’t amount to much brought me back to my limit of $3900.00. Three days, May 22, 2011, before my May payment was due, I received a call telling me that the wire was now not legitimate. I was then informed I now owed over $7,000.00. I returned the exercise machine and lost $400.00 doing so and several other items I purchased.
    I have always paid on time, but, as you put it in an effort to scare me, you be clear about this, I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MISTAKE YOUR EMPLOYEE MADE. I tried to reason with your company to no avail. My credit was destroyed five years ago by three banks who committed fraud against me and are being sued. So feel free to try and join the other crooks. You can’t make my credit score any worse which is why I am paying you nothing. I’m also paying you nothing because I have limited income and if Congress decides to cut my Social Security check, I will cut my monthly income by 1/3.
    I have documentation on everything I have mentioned, dates times and amounts. The following are the dates and times I have been harassed breaking a Federal Law:

    2)    You will admit that it was your employee, not my unwillingness to pay that put you in this situation.
    3)    You have broken a Federal Law, therefore since my account is now closed, and since my Long Term Disability has been cut by 1/3 due to the incompetence of the government, you will write off the account to zero.
    4)    You will discontinue your reports to the credit bureaus, post haste.
    5)    You will write me a letter to confirm this.
    If you continue to harass me by phone, I will bring a lawsuit against you for breaking this law.

      Your an idiot. You ruined your own credit, no one else. Get over it. Swallow the pill that your are a professional debtor and you will do the same with other finance companies. Next time, try and take 1 ounce of responsibility for your own actions. Also, always always always, read the fine print.

    No one forced you to borrow money you couldn't afford to pay back because you are on a disability income, everyone seems to be the blame except for the person racking up the debt, you. No one cares about why you claim you need to spend the money, the bank shouldn't have to foot the bill for your workout or anything else. You should take accountability for your spending problem and stopped trying to con companies out of their money. Finally, keeping track of call times will not get you far. It is not considered a contact unless a collections agent speak with you and you identify yourself, so that means they can call you. As much as they'd like until they actually speak with you. Nice try though. You should put as much energy into coming up with a way to repay your debt as you did documenting call times. I really hope you don't borrow anymore money because you clearly can't afford it, and good luck paying back what you owe.

    I have been in touch with Legal Aide of the Bluegrass in Kentucky. There is a form you can get to send to HSBC that is called a "Cease Contact" letter.  Call Legal Aide of the Bluegrass at 1-800-928-4556 and they will send you papers regarding what collection agencies can and cannot do. The form is in the paperwork and you just copy it, fill it out, and send it certified mail. There are people who are considered "judgement proof",or "protected or exempt,  which means there are certain kinds of income that cannot be garnished. SSI, Social Security, Public Assistant (K-TAP), Unemployment Insurance, Worker's Comp, Veteran's Benefits, and a couple others. Now, some collection agencies can sue, but I would try this first, and Legal Aide advises not to file bankruptcy until it is a last resort.

    I got a phone call from a collection agency that HSBC uses and the man was very rude! He told me some people go to bars instead of paying their bills, he said I can't ignore what I owe because he would call the next day, and he asked (in a "smart elick") way, "Are you going to get an attorney?" I will be sending them a Cease Contact letter because my income is one that they cannot garnish. I'm considered judgement proof. I will also probably report that "gentleman" to the Attorney General.

    lol , i used to work for HSBC collection department and to harras the customers as well :) but actually the system of HSBC is really stupid and they use very idiot way of getting their loans and money back from customers even if it's for only 1 cent or 1 fills ,
    by that way hsbc is loossssing many customers ,
    and cause of that stupid way i just resigned , just didnt want to be as much stupid as the system :):)

    Yesterday I received 11 calls from HSBC.8:13am,8:43am, 9:32am, 10:30am, 10:34am, 1:27pm, 1:38pm, 3:13pm, 5:19pm, 7:20pm, and 7:28pm.  Nine of those calls, there was no one on the phone when I answered.  The other 2 times, I explained that I didn't have any money at this time and I would pay what I could, when I could.  As I have been doing for the last few months (I have made payments at least every 30 days, although not for the full amount they say I owe). I have been trying through this hard time to pay something.  Even after speaking to them, they called an additional 5 times.  HSBC collections is not doing their job by "trying to collect a debt" when they don't speak to you when you answer the phone.  If they just call and never say a word....they're HARRASSING you!!  That is not, in any way, collecting on a debt. Perhaps someone can explain this!!

    HSBC is like all banks...awful, greedy and unwilling to work with customers. We all should work together to give them the bad publicity they deserve and force them to change their methods. It works when the people, who keep these monsters in business, fight back and bad mouth them. That loses them new potential customers and costs HSBC money.
