Complaint

I am a customer of HSBC. I recently started to get calls from the HSBC collection department. At first I thought it was some misunderstanding because my account with HSBC is in good standing. After several calls from them it was clear they are looking for a different person. I explained to them several times that I am not the person they are looking for, and that they need to remove my mobile phone number from the records of that customer.

However, the calls continue. I am disappointed in their level of attention and cooperation with the customer.

I am HSBC customer and I have taken loan from HSBC but unfortunately I lost my job as my company has decided to wind up the business, so my company has issued the letter to HSBC stating that my we are closing the business and my Final Settlement is AED. 10,372/-, so bank has hold my settlement and I was in much trouble, but after one month I got a job and went personally to bank in Sharjah at collection dept. as they told be to give offer letter and can unblock my account, as I was also a regular installment payer.

But HSBC Bank refuses and told me to contact collection department, and collection department told me to fax my offer letter the same I faxed and still they have not unbloked my account and couldnt able to withdrawl my settlement amount, and finally all my amount monthly they have deducted with my monthly installment and still last installment amount i.e. AED.2900/- was still there and on 13th sept 2012 my house rent cheque was suppose to go for which I have deposited AED.5800/- for my cheq. clearence amounted AED.5750/- even I told to collection dept. Ms. ANNA that my rent cheq. will come and for that I will deposit so and so amt. she told me to contact the same day itself but I havent recd. call at last I tried a lot but no body was picking a call.

And last but not least my cheque got bounced, as they have blocked some amount even of my deposit amount. Is the HSBC Bank has right to do so....? Please let me know so the I can sue a case and I want to go legally.

    Thanks

I have been billed twice for a transaction I have not made. Hotel accommodation  at Agoda Hotel in London. I have not gone to London that is why it is very impossible for me to have a reservation in London. This is very alarming. May I request that this two transactions be stricken out of my bill. It is very unjustly to be paying off something which I have not enjoyed. I hope I can  get  an immediate reply so I can pay my correct bill and enjoy using my card. And may I also request that I be not charged with finance charges since I cannot pay an erroneous bill. Thank you

I had a credit card with HSBC bank which I close 2007 and I was told to pay the rest of their money which I did. Today I checked my credit report to see their name in my information owing them $43.00 . I called but they did not find my name neither would they find where I owed them money. Can someone tell me their collection agency of year 2007 , I mean their phone number. My email is omayi57@yahoo.com. and my phone is 4123781093... I need to let me out of this problem.

As per FCRA.. replies to Tajudeen Ogunnoiki

dispute it through the CRA that shows it on your credit report.  The CRA is required to forward the dispute to the data furnisher, which is required to verify, correct, or remove erroneous information.

In addition, if this negative information is older than 7.5 years, it must be removed from your credit report.
If this is from 2007, since we are already in 2014, you may be near or past the 7.5 year FCRA reporting limit.

If the data furnisher fails to respond, then the CRA must remove it.

If the data furnisher verifies erroneous information, then they may become liable for their mistake, and you can sue them for violating FCRA.

Also be aware that there are numerous complaints suggesting that HSBC may have sold portfolios of alleged "bad debt" to some real sleazy collection agencies.  Complaints report they may have been using them for cover for fraudulent collection from the wrong people, with little concern over whose credit they were damaging.  This is especially likely with real old "debt", at or near the 7.5 year CRA reporting limits, since those portfolios sell for pennies on the dollar and attract this level of sleazy collection agencies.  The alleged "debt" might not even be yours.

You can find consumer attorneys who handle these cases through www.naca.net

Thank you for the informative info.      In 2009,  I closed my acct with a company I had a card with.  Within a short period of time the company sold.   I was called relentlessly from a creditor stating I owed X amount.  I gave them info when, whom, and confirmation that I did not owe anything.   This did not stop the calls.  The caller said he would remove negative remarks, not report it if I where to pay the  amount.  I believe it was under $100.   This is now on my credit report and stating it was "CO."    It drops off in April 2016.         I caved so they would stop the harassment.   Do I wait for April to drop off my report or do I open a pandora's box??    Suggestions ??

According to FCRA.. replies to T
the 7.5 year maximum reporting period, after which it must drop off, is measured from the date of first delinquency, when supposedly an amount was supposedly due to be paid but wasn't.  If you closed the account in 2009, then any alleged first date of delinquency would be presumably 30 days after you closed it, or even earlier, even if this "delinquency" is erroneous.

7.5 years after that.. replies to T
is somewhere in 2016, regardless of your later payment (whether it was even owed), and regardless of anything you do today.  If they stretch it out beyond that (or if you can show the original charge-off reported was erroneous), you might be able to sue them for damages under FCRA.

You referred to this as a company.. replies to T
Was it a bank credit card account, or some merchant account maybe actually financed through a bank?  Was your payment to the original creditor, or to some collection agency who collected on it, lying to you to get you to pay?
